I love that shade of blue
Me too makes it look more unique.
Bright colors for liveries will always be a favorite of mine, and I like seeing engines with pre-grouping liveries, mainly because it brings back a time that feels forgotten. This engine is a rare and wonderful gem, I thank the kind farmer who saved her. Great video as always Chris, you never disappoint.
The shade of blue makes the tank butiful, even more so in an evening background!
Personally, I LIKE pre-grouping paint schemes
Boxcarwillie S160 WE ALL DO
Until you have to clean it!
@@mattwalden4020 Dedication, Matt.
I agree BR was a bit sameish
I don't have a problem with liveries, but I do prefer seeing pre-grouping and pre-BR locos in liveries of their respective railways.
That is why I love steam engines of this age. They combine power and real cool design and colour.
Knew this was coming soon, being as I did meet Chris at the winter gala, (yes if you read this chris I'm George from thr Gala) I do agree that this tank will be one of the most popular steam locos, for me it comes in the top 5!
Well done Chris! I really like this engine. Especially because it's blue.
The Pre-Grouping Lines, are Jolly Good Lines. This little tank, as a "Show Stealing" star, is fun to fathom!
A gorgeous engine on a gorgeous railway!
Damn right she’s a showstopper
I had a feeling this one would be coming up. Another brilliant Sole Slip of another beautiful engine
I like this locomotive by not only of it design, but the beautiful blue livery.
Imagine seeing no. 812, no. 419 and the single all steaming in one place. Another great video Chris
123 is the single and 828 is the class 812
I saw this in person, it was visiting at the churnet valley railway (where it is seen here) for there winter gala, very pretty and powerful locomotive, but sadly broke down twice 🙁
And now we’ve lost the beautiful livery. Hopefully it’ll get repainted blue again in the near future.
That's awsome this Tank Engine
It's a pity we don't have more pre-1923 liveries. They were eye candy.
WHOOHOO! when Bepis on gmod said it was out, I went straight to my phone.
I caught a glimpse of this engine's wheels in the shed today when I was on a DMU train at the Battlefield Line
I take it 419 was visiting the line
I really wish more Caledonian locomotives where preserved... I am hoping somebody will rebuild a 956 class... they where my favorite
The CR has engines that shine out their darker green and black BR preserved engines
@1:16 @1:26 Beautiful Engine! I’ve always liked the Westinghouse air brake pumps that sound off when an engine is at a standstill. Sounds like it’s catching its breath.
@0:01
Once again, your work is of excellent standard Chris! Very nicely covered video of a beautiful locomotive! I really do love this class and the Livery is also great (not because of Thomas 😂). Keep it up!
Finally, a upload!! This is perfection!
Caledonian Blue is definitely my favorite livery
Beautiful engine! I especially love the paint job!
What’s wrong with the colour? It looks very nice and beautiful with that light blue colour scheme!
Having seen 419 a lot at Bo'ness as a kid, she has a rather soft spot in my heart personally. My favourite locomotive of all. Again, great video :)
Neat I got to ride on a train with this locomotive while on tour in Scotland. But I never got the back story on it. Thank you.
My great grandparents worked on one of at Glasgow
I like the blue
It's a wonderful engine, I will say. That engine should visit Wales.
Not to start a war, but what's wrong about the colour choice?
he dislikes a similar looking tank engine that has a matching colour scheme. a lot of hardcore rail fans see said tank engine as an embarrassment and he is one of them. so don't mention the name of said tank engine.
@@dmkoz1665 ok, I thought it was because the Caledonian blue didn't match the same shade a as the 828 Tender engine.
It's too light to be correct. Nothing to do with Thomas
Two reasons why the rivit counters get upset:
1) These locomotives didn't wear the Caley's blue livery whilst in service and wore a black livery instead.
2) Compare this locomotive's blue livery with the other surviving Caley locomotive, No. 828 which has already been covered in a previous Sole Slip. They are painted in different shades of blue (I preferred 828's darker blue livery). It's a bit like the GER blue.
@@stevebarnes2 What a load of rubbish! The shade of blue is correct. Unless you know more than the SRPS and the Caledonian Railway association?
One things for sure: as she demonstrated today on the East Lancs, she's a sparky little lass! Still picking the ashes out of my hair now! XD
Yay! A new video
Its style makes it look like you should see Sir Topham Hatt walking around in the background as it was filmed.
Exactly Chris this engine could visit other heritage lines when she does visit ones down here I'll be there
Have you considered patron
I love the C&R livery
Beautiful 💙💙💙💙😍🚂👍👋

interesting on a personal level for me as some of my ancestors worked at St Rollox during the time of manufacture. Huge employer the, sadly no more.
It's GOURGOUS even more in white
The scottish locomotives are most My favorites
CR blue👌
Three preserved Caledonian engines? Does the Andrew Barclay at the Caledonian Railway in Brechin not count? I'm not too clued up on the subject of preservation.
Mac in tosh, as in the way you pronounce the Macintosh coat…
The problem with the engine having air operated brakes on the loco is, it’s a single pipe air brake system where, if the driver is not careful and makes too many applications will, have no means to stop the loco (apart from the hand brake) having used up all the air in the reserve… if vacuum is lost the brakes come on: the reverse for single pipe air 😱
It also makes it a little tricky on wet rails to not have the engine slide as if it were on ice… not good if your heading towards the coaches you’re about ‘couple’ up too… so care is needed on applying the air brake and for the driver to think ahead as he/she wants to stop… just a wee touch too much air and you lock the wheels up… eek.
Been there…
The colour, yes I wasn’t much of a fan of it as I was very much used to the darker blue she wore in preservation but I’ve gotten used to it now. It’s the blue of the St Andrews flag.
As it happens, it's pronounced both ways often enough depending on who you speak to. So it seems both sides are as correct as they are incorrect
I love this engine, but my only gripe with it is a cosmetic one. The cab not being flush with the side tanks just annoys me something fierce 😅
mmmm the chonky lad
Regarding the class' duties, weren't they used as bankers over Beattock? Now that would make for a great railtour!
Pre-grouping Loco are great.
Years built:1895-1925
Beautiful, but no film of her at Bo'ness??
Can u please come to Ireland again?
She’s coming to Swanage soon 😁
How fast can they go?
Do they wear kilts still in Scotland?
Only for ceilidhs or weddings, any kind of big social event.
BTW there's actually 6 Caledonian Locomotive in in presivation
ED ACTUALLY, there are 3.
I don't mind the blue.
Thomas????
Hunter Willoughby That's London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Class E2.
samanli2014 Thomas.
Don't want tp start a firestorm but... what is the deal with the different shades of Caledonia Blue?
I prefer the 828 shade but a great loco
I swear I thought that the 419 number plate said ROBLOX and not Rollox
Were these the precursors to the M7 class?
as someone related to a fair few McIntoshs, I have never heard it pronounced "Mc-Inn-Tosh"
There's not much 0-4-4 Tanks preserved in Britain. There's this, the Adams O2, the Drummond M7s, the Wainwright H and the Metropolitan E.
I mean... Aren't most Big Four colours a shade of green anyway? Whatever the shade of blue, this engine would be an elegant machine anyway.
Kinda looks like a LSWR M7
Oh fuck, not Ryan Hagen.
I'm not annoyed because it resembles a certain other blue engine, I'm annoyed because it should be black, or at the very least the official dark blue. It turns out the men at St. Rollox figured out (the geniuses) dark blue + white = light blue.
what’s the livery called
Perth blue
Jeez the wheels are taller than my mother
It certainly stole the show yesterday at the East Lancashire Railway.
Do sole slip: NSB kong Haakon type 21c 377
There's five of those if you count the three other Type 21s preserved in Norway. But, all in good time
Chris Eden-Green no there is a type 21c In norfolk
@@mcbenman1793 there is, but there's another (No 376) at the Kent & East Sussex. Then there's two 21b's and a 21e in Norway, so that's atleast five on record
Chris Eden-Green Yes but the one In norfolk is the former royal train
@@mcbenman1793 that doesn't make it a sole survivor as the one at the K&ESR is also a 21c
*haha like Caledonian Railway coaches*
What are your thoughts on the LNER L1 Tanks

That looks like Thomas the tank engine
No
was that a USA dock tank in the background at 0:11
close enough - that's a Polish-built tank engine that was imported to England - it's name is Hotspur i think.
It's all good until a random kid calls it Thomas
FIRST TO SAY FIRST
Thomas
No
Mate that locomotive does not look like Thomas at all, there is a difference between a 0-4-4T locomotive and a 0-6-0T locomotive and both the locomotives are different so there!
Forget the blue does the engine still not look familiar to anyone
I really don't mind that it looks like Thomas (in colour scheme.) I just like the engine because of it's looks.
(not trying to start a war.)
Too late
