This actually works for people with thin hair as well, you just have to adjust it a tiny bit differently. My ponytails used to look super super thin from the side, but now it looks much better :)

Try using a thick hair tie instead of a thin plastic band, or try using 4 or 5 plastic bands together- this is what I do for clients with really thick hair. Works great! Thanks for watching! :)
If you pick up some clip-in hair extensions, that should help it look thicker. Apply extensions first, then do your ponytails. If you want to skip the extensions, try doing your ponytails lower so the 2nd pony isn't seen & when you're done don't forget to take a small section of hair & wrap it around BOTH ponytails so they are grouped together. Hope this helps! :)
I have tried extensions, but I find they are not practical for me as I am a very busy person, but I will definitely try the low ponytail trick, especially since I cut my hair to shoulder length recently, and lower ponytails are much more flattering on shorter hair I find, thank you so much for your helpful tip! ;)
