This unit works very well ruclips.net/user/postUgkxl2o1MQU4aMgmFk_cMqer4nH2ptpDEM6h Considering the price I paid for this, I didn't have high expectations, but now after using it, I consider this is a well designed heater. Do be aware that doing the dry burn on the wick as recommended (or at least every two tanks) is absolutely necessary to avoid an unclean burn, fortunately it's easy enough to do. I'm burning dyed K1 kerosene and do a dry burn every two tanks and this is working great. This unit will heat a little over the 500 square feet that it is rated for depending on the temperature. On days it isn't bitter cold this heater will do a fair amount more. This makes an excellent emergency heat source, and also in my situation, it is a little more efficient than the electric heat in the teen temps and below.
Thank you so much. My wick would not go back down with the switch. That tip to keep it from bunching up when lowering the mechanism back in place worked like a charm.
Thank you so much for this. I have watched so many videos but was doing something wrong until I saw this one. You said to raise the wick BEFORE removing the wick assembly. I haven't done that yet and at 5:20 on your. video you said how to line up the pin heads to the holes in the center piece that raises the wick. No other video has mentioned that before. I hope that is my problem. I am quite a handyman but I'm just missing something while trying to replace a simple;e wick in a kerosene heater....... I hope your extra pointers help me get this thing in. Thanks Again.
Thanks for this video. My knob was binding after reinstalling but I didn't have my wick in the up position. Owners manual and other videos never indicated this. Fixed my problem and now will be nice and warm. Thank you again! 😊
Was having problems till I heard you say you have to adjust the wick all the way out before installing, after I did that it went in and back together quick, thanks
Thank you so much for the detailed instructions. I have one of those heaters, but after watching this video.. I'm thinking .. what a waste!!! just because the wick was burnt a little on the top we're supposed to throw it away?? is there a way to push it up a little ?? I meant it looks like it only burned one percent or less of the length.. any ideas anyone ??

I love RUclips. Should have watched this yesterday before doing the exact same thing. lol. Looks like I need to reinstall mine at that highest adjustment. Mine new wick is just level with the housing at full height adjustment. It works, but doesn't produce as high of a flame as it should.
I know you has experience in kerosene heater's, can you tell me what is the best kerosene that you will recommend, I'm planning to buy one por agencies .I thank you for sharing your knowledge
Question, I have a kero world kw-12 heater. I used your video as a guide to change out my wick. I thought I did a good job until I went to light it. For some reason the flame is staying below the ring instead of going threw the center piece. What in the heck?
It is usually where the model number is on the heater on one of those labels beside the caution label. That's where I found mine at. I hope that helps.
I have 2 karosen heaters the first one I got a few weeks ago it done good on the first tank of fuel than the second tank of fuel it started acting up smoking and didn’t wanna burn right than I bought a new wick and started burning good the first time than started acting up again than yesterday I got me another heater that a neighbor gave me and it’s doing the same thing the karosene from last year some one gave me could it be bad both heaters are a year old any ideas ❤
What’s the knob that pulls out on the back left side across from the wick adjuster? I picked one of these up from the dump and it works somewhat. Wick is good it is smoking on low. I’m trying to get it shop ready for winter.
How do I shut off A Kero Heat Heaters that does not shut off ? I tried shutting it off to the Shut off Manual and it is still running ? I tried the Adjusting Range But it is still going .
My ring must be stuck it doesn't come out easy like yours I have same model I think mine is old call corona can't figure out how to get ring out or can't see pin holes to line up please help
got a question for you, my wick adjuster knob, it doesn't mater how much i turned it, the wick does not come up. it stays right where it was inserted. I made sure the wick was put right but still it does not come up. Any help on how to get it to come up?
It's easier to start with an empty tank. Either burn it off or siphon it out. I did this for the first time last winter, and by the third wick replacement, it got easier. Now I needed a refresher course but this looked a lot harder than I remember.
I follow your video but the knob to turn the wick up and down will not turn. I pull out the assembly and check the wick to make sure it is still in place and turn the knob and it is fine. But once I install it- the knob us stuck. What is happening?
Julie Gilmo make sure the rubber seal is in place when you put the assembly back together. Also be careful the wick isn’t binding or bunched up anywhere as you put it back into position. And the metal collar at 6:02 actually twists and locks into position instead of just being pushed into place over the wick. Another thing to watch out for is to make sure the pins don’t pop out of the holes of the sleeve as you slide the assembly back together. If even one of them pops out a bit the wick assembly won’t raise properly. You should wear gloves as you’re doing this because of the metal spikes, make sure as you pop the wick rivets into the holes you also push the wick material snugly into theses spikes on the inner sleeve as it will keep the wick in position.(and it’s much better to work on if you siphon all the kerosene out of the tank that way if you have to reposition the wick a few times you won’t get fuel all over the place).
@@fridaythe13thpartx Quick question: Do I have to have the thin metal collar on when I put it back together? I assembled the wick just fine without it and I got the pins in place perfectly.. It's just that the collar was not letting me be great while assembling the wick, so I put it back without... I turned the knob up and down and it is working fine....just haven't lit it yet but wanted to know if this is going to be a major problem for me to where I have to reassemble again and add the collar? I hope I'm not confusing with my question. 🙏🏿
I had same issue twice. took it apart and did it again and still wouldn't turn. I was about to give up then I saw a video mention to have the wick all the way up when putting back together and it works now.
The most popular answer seems to be “at least an hour”. The package on my new wick says to fill the tank and let the wick soak for 1-2 hours before initial lighting. Hope this helps.
Perhaps these things don't need to be well made... cheap construction is probably good enough, but I have looked around and haven't been able to find any kerosene heaters that feel well constructed.
So plod through the obvious stuff and after all the wasted time say "Oh, you need 2 people." Not a total waste of time, I guess. Maybe start with that.
That tip about pulling the bottom off 'the friction fit base' saved me a lot of curse words. My pastor and I thank you.

It could be bad kerosene, or if someone put fuel oil or diesel in it. It will smoke.
Kerosene is refined further and should not smoke.

At least 1 hour as the replacement wick packaging should state.
