@@kurtmorales7644 Technically, Agatha never reappears, and Bruno was under mind control, but for Lance and Lorelei, yeah. And the same also applies to many other villain characters in Adventures. Hardly logical, if you ask me.
@@wikiuser92 I just chalked it to early Gen jank. It was still the formative years of the series. Most villains didn't get to be forgiven, sure the writers gave Archie and Maxie some redemption in ORAS but they weren't forgiven per se. Giovanni is still a wanted man, same with Cyrus. But the forgiveness that I find odd and disagree with was Pryce! The man kidnapped Children and indoctrinated them, caused havoc across Johto, when he was fished out of time and space void, and after the Arceus incident was pardoned and given his old job back?! I understand if Silver and Green(or Blue if you would prefer) forgave Pryce for what he did, but authorities just let him go and gave him his Gym leader position back!
Finally some recognition for an insaine series. I've read this a couple years back and only finished up to the end of kanto but no one talked about it. I definitely recommend it.
The Lance of Pokémon Adventures is a pretty compelling antagonist. He really echos what would be the character N many years later in Pokémon Black & White/2. Just like N, Lance makes the audience question the status que of capturing Pokémon and the blind between them and trainers. Glad to see more and more people discovering this wonderful manga. It was my childhood growing up as much as the games were.
The difference is Adventures Lance thinks humans don't deserve Poekmon's friendship, due to seeing man destroy Poekmon's natural habitats as a child. While N was tricked by Ghetsis.
Everyone pokemon fan has to admit that Pokemon adventures is quite spectacular! So far my favourite is the diamond, pearl and platinum run! Haven’t gotten to gen 5 or soul silver and heart gold yet as of writing but I’m looking forward for the next chapters!
One bizarre plot point in the manga is when it was revealed that Deoxys is Red in a way. In an incident, Red’s blood got on Deoxys and it absorbed that blood.
The anime had its clear audience. It did somewhat mature overtime, except BW, but that had its own heap of problems, most of which were outside of the staff’s control.
Same here! I was really lucky that my school library had the first few volumes, I read those everyday during elementary school and eventually my parents got me full boxsets of what series were available at the time. (Generations 1-4 I think)

The Pokemon Manga is basically a proof that Pokemon can have awesome and beatifull stories but for some reason they dont use thek on their mainline games
@@wikiuser92 That's a terrible take. Yes, Celebi being used was a deus ex machina, but it was handled about as well as is possible to handle that particular trope and was very obviously planned from the beginning. We knew, for most of the arc, that Ruby had some powerful pokemon whose identity was for some reason being kept secret, and there was plenty of foreshadowing that it was Celebi specifically: Ruby talks a lot about his pokemon never changing from "the effects of time" during contests(and Celebi is quite literally unaffected by time), indicating that Ruby has some connection with time, and it's stated that there was something f*cking with time on Mirage Island. It being a Johto pokemon also helps, since Ruby is from Johto.
It gets even wilder later. A running theme of part 3 is child abuse/corporal punishment, and certain major villains die in very violent fashion. Oh and Kyogre drowns an entire city.
We also have the best pokemon protag ever, Yellow, and their tendency to never evolve their pokemon. Somebody get them a Mudkip and call them one of us!

*Was.* He reforms later.
@@wikiuser92 Yeah... People just kinda forgive him and the rest of the E4 for the attempted genocide...
Just how I want my childhood manga to be like.
The crazy part is that there is SO much more this is literally just the original “Pokémon adventures” in kanto, but it continues through all the games
Haven’t gotten to gen 5 or soul silver and heart gold yet as of writing but I’m looking forward for the next chapters!
really hoping he covers more than just the kanto arcs because the later stuff keeps up the insanity and is even better
Recreating the entirety of Pokemon Manga in Real Life is gonna be a banger of a video
I'm glad the Pokemon manga is getting the recognition it deserves
One bizarre plot point in the manga is when it was revealed that Deoxys is Red in a way. In an incident, Red’s blood got on Deoxys and it absorbed that blood.
The manga is what the TV series could’ve been, that would’ve been amazing
The anime had its clear audience. It did somewhat mature overtime, except BW, but that had its own heap of problems, most of which were outside of the staff’s control.
As for myself, I am definitely interested in the pokemanga now, but I'm not gonna read it so a video by you would be awesome as hell
Love that you are talking about the manga! It's soooo good and its a shame no one seems to read it. Hope it catches on the public.
Unbelievably happy you may be covering this, I love this series
the thicc team galaxy member in the diamond and pearl manga is amazing.
OH GOD lmao I forgot about them. Honestly they were killing it.
You're talking abt a whole different manga lol 😭
@C True but Hareta is goated.
this was my introduction to pokemon and it practically made my childhood
Same here! I was really lucky that my school library had the first few volumes, I read those everyday during elementary school and eventually my parents got me full boxsets of what series were available at the time. (Generations 1-4 I think)
Pokémon adventures is definitely a gem, and its more than just the kanto adventures! The manga is still running and has been through every region except paldea. I highly recommend a read through the whole thing!
is it all worth reading? i had the first three volumes as a kid and remember loving it
They are worth reading in my opinion, each generation getting their manga counterparts. Pretty enjoyable at minimum but pretty wild at best. Gen 3 and 4 being by far my favorites.
@@acetamerragna2852fellow gen 4 chapter enjoyer
The Pokemon adventures manga was so fire. I read it years ago, and i still read it to this day! Im glad its getting more attention
I loved this manga. Please make a full video on it, Alpharad.
Omg, please do a video on this! I love this manga! I've been meaning to finish the while thing, past the Kanto arc. To my knowledge, it's still ongoing too
And that's only the first arc, hehe. Every Pokémon game has a corresponding arc in the Adventure Comics.
Also I really hope you also do a video on Diamond and Pearl Adventure! (no relation to Adventures, this manga here) too. It’s not as off the walls or JoJo-esque as Adventures but the fact that they turned Lucas into Kid Goku speaks volumes for what you getting with that series.
I really need this as a full video
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS TO LIGHT. I’ve been reading these for years and I have the full collection up to XY. Diamond Pearl Platinum is still my favorite, with emerald as a close second. This thing needs more popularity
Now this is my kind of Elite Four!
I really, really, really want to see a review of the Pokemon Adventures from you! I loved these books since I was a kid, and it always really bummed me out when I couldn't find many reviews about it
the manga needs an anime adaptation
No, as a massive fan of it, it does not, children don’t need to see Polywhirl getting impaled
@@usrnmntavlibl2666 it would very obviously be made for the mature part of the fanbase not for the children
@@MrHerbertbauer however it is related to Pokémon, and therefore children will watch it, and children reading it in the manga, as quite different then seeing it actively happen
I want a video on it sure, but don't stop with just the first set, cause it just never stops giving.
The mangas pretty nice remember reading through ruby and sapphire long while back good times
If you do make a video, please continue with the other arcs too! I'd love to see the other arcs get their own attention as well, and honestly? The Ruby/Sapphire arc still remains as my favorite where I wish would be addressed more on youtube. BW is also amazing as well my god.
Watching my friends commit the worst war crimes because I said no balls 💀
Just started reading the Mangas and can confirm so far they’re really good and I don’t even like to read but I want to read these. Jacob please make a video or shit even a series of videos on the mangas!
How has there never been a pokemon manga rom hack?
There have been several attempts, yes. You can probably find a few demos online if you search hard enough
there's pokemon adventure red
Anime: safety mode :D
Manga: I wanna recreate William aft on to Pokémon
The Pokemon Manga is basically a proof that Pokemon can have awesome and beatifull stories but for some reason they dont use thek on their mainline games
It is much easier to market a simple and non violent story to children and more importantly their parents.
It's too violent for the mainline games. I mean, just look at the end of the Hoenn arc, everyone died there.
@@Missingno_Miner Yeah. And then got revived by a Deus ex Machina, making the drama of their deaths completely worthless.
@@Missingno_Miner I know all that foreshadowing, but it doesn't change the fact that it cheapens those deaths.
Somebody get them a Mudkip and call them one of us!
so glad someone else loves the manga like i do, tbh this is in my top three pieces of pokemon media, ever, its just that freakin good
PLEASE make a video on this! I read the manga all the time as a kid and let me tell you, you are not READY for gold/silver/crystal. Like... my god. Please continue reading it!
100% agree Pokemon adventures was and still is my favorite pokemon series.
If you only read up to GSC then you should definotely read RSE because those go even crazier.
@Gamma Games dude I read those ages ago and you are so right. I don't think the library I went to had the finale because I never saw what happened to Norman. Also yes, holy crap it was CRAZY! I read all the way until halfway through B/W and it went PLACES
Pokémon Adventures is one of, if not the *best* way to experience Pokémon as a media form. It’s incredible! Glad to see it get some love.
I remember Giovanni being a great father in the manga to the point where he sacrifices for Silver
I heard the manga was dark, but dang! I wasn’t expecting this!!
We should campaign for a Pokemon Adventures anime adaptation
This manga series was my childhood, wonderfully done 👌👌
So, I know another crazy thing that happens in the manga.
Apparently, Zinnia gets stabbed through the stomach by Rayquaza, and then hit with a point blank hyper beam. Dont worry, she's fine.
And that's one of the less crazier things in the manga surprisingly
Zinnia's motivation was reduced to be more about vengeance than saving the world. Even the manga itself acknowledges this.
I've read up to the 2nd volume of xy and the oras chapters
I assure you this stuff is just the beginning, the ruby and sapphire arc is my favorite
I await the day we see Yellow show up as a character in honestly any game. Even Pokémon Masters
Yessssss full video!!!!! I'd love to see a Jaiden animation telling of the anime abridged too 😂
my favorite way to consume pokemon, honestly. it’s so fucking good i’m very excited to see the full video :3
the first few arcs draw you in so hard, and it only gets better imo kusaka is a genius i absolutely love his plots and the way he characterizes the dexholders in such distinct and unique ways from their game counterparts. if you’re a pokemon fan, please pick up the manga. it’s so damn good
YES ALPHA! Do a video on the manga! More people need to know about it!
