Nope. Yall are seeing it backwards.
Nissan swaps the next best motor into cars/trucks all the time. They get influencers/drivers to do it as well. This isn’t new.
No one tripped seeing the VR30 swapped Z.
No one tripped seeing the VK56 swapped Frontier…
    But they’re complaining about them putting a VR38 in a new Z?
Smfh. Look at how they operate before just wanting to yap for yapping sake.
Edit: Boost nailed it. It’s just content. Not forsaking a motor.

If this was 2016-19 I'd agree with you that they need to improve on the 3.0. But the 3.7 is a dinosaur Nissan needed to move on from. If you want a 3.7 go buy a Z, G, or early model Q.

The truth is, Infiniti/Nissan isn’t putting money into a high-end sports car because people aren’t willing to pay for an expensive Infiniti. They’ve been targeting budget-conscious buyers, which has hurt Infiniti’s image. So, people with money are always going to choose brands like BMW or Mercedes over a cheaper Infiniti. Because of that, Infiniti doesn’t attract the big spenders, and without their money, they can’t reinvest, creating a vicious cycle. Nissan has become known as a budget brand, and that has dragged down Infiniti’s reputation too. Turning things around would take cash that Nissan just doesn’t have.

One thing that I don't understand is that they do have capabilities of changing their image. Look at the 2025 qx80 or the new qx60. Also, nissan Z.
They can use the interior of the qx80, qx60 or nissan z. Shoot even grab the 9 speed and put it in q50 or q60?
the new vr35 in the q80 is going to be great too. So i don't get it at all!

    • @jayhawker931
      @jayhawker931 16 дней назад +7

@@windblower5 It’s not just about the engine; it’s the whole package. The Z is an okay car, but for a bit more, you can get a Supra, which has a better engine, regularly updated, and better transmission, steering, and stability. The Z just feels outdated. Nissan seems to be all about flashy concepts now, but they’re not really innovating or leading in the market anymore. It’s funny because Hyundai and Genesis have taken the spot Nissan and Infiniti could’ve had if their leadership wasn’t so clueless. Honestly, it’s kind of embarrassing to be seen driving an Infiniti these days which is sad because I owned a g37 and a q50 before moving to bmw and getting a 540i

the reason why infiniti is "cheap" is because the tried to sell one generation of their car, the q50, for a notoriously long period, they don't update their cars/tech and push out new generation fast enough, and the old model becomes more and more dated and loses any advantages to compete with the competitors on the market, and also depreciate tremendously. They should've come out with the next gen q50 in 2020 with new engine new trans and new design, but they wanted to sell this same model for almost 10 years. Of course they lose the market when other brands are updating their lineup so consistently. Nobody would spend 60k to buy a new Q50RS in 2024 which is literally from 2016 (or 2018 for facelift model)

Nissan races with the VR30 and VR38. I don't think Nissan would use the VR30 in their race cars if they didn't care. I think that's a bit of a reach, I do respect what you say because of your knowledge for sure. I come from a VQ and will always keep one around for sure, but even then, the VQ came nerfed, no turbos, open deck, and companies make so much fucking money off selling turbo kits and cont. to bend over customers for 10k+ to make good power and get close to the VR38 in terms of performance. What I don't like is that Nissan claims to be about "fun to drive" vehicles but only make 2 fun to drive cars in their line up. If I wanted a fuel eco car i'd buy a Nissan Versa or Sentra, whatever. But you mean to tell me you couldn't just make the VR30 more capable and have more potential from the factory? why? To take away from the GTR's legacy? Not a good look. The VQ became a tuner favorite because adding boost make's it close to the VR38, but by the time it's all said and done, you might as well just buy a used GTR....

Agreed, the GT-R is an AWD track monster, the Z is a RWD GT car with an hshift option, two completely different beasts. I really do think it came down to cost as to why they used the VR30 though, making those takumi built GT-R engines couldn't have been cheap, especially as order numbers went down.
That being said they should start using the takumi built VR38 in the NISMO Z (that was big miss on their part), especially with the GT-R ending production, and maybe a short stroke version in the Sport and Performance Z. I'm just glad the Sport model comes with a turbo unlike previous generations where the base model was NA.
All this to say Nissan has an image problem more than anything else and they will only fix that by downsizing and starting to go upscale like Mazda and Cadillac are doing.

Well said. Money is clearly an issue with Nissan, rnd costs and more. I believe the only reason they’re putting the GTR engine in the 400 Z is just for content. If most people wanted the 3.8 L they should just buy a GTR. It’s a better car all around. Both engines are great engines the 3 L and the 3.8 they just need to be maintained properly.
Every car has issues. Since my wife and I moved to Asia, I purchased my wife our first Toyota ever it is a GR. Just to say we’ve had it in for service eight times with problems less than two years. And we only have 7000 km on it. All cars have issues no matter what they are.

Let the lab rats buy new cars and you buy the ones that have been on the road for 4 years with little to no repairs being needed besides wear and tear. That's what a wise man does.

She built that early C8 to the point that at times throughout the build it was the most powerful C8 in the world, and was the fastest C8 in the world at multiple points of time. I’m not even a fan of hers but have watched many episodes because of the interesting builds and she actually drag races, can drift, and road races her cars. Nissan wanted as many eyeballs as possible on this car/build. And nobody mentioned the other reason it’s a vr38 swap. It’s gonna be awd! And it’s not gonna be stock power/parts. Yall VR30 owners are too butt hurt, putting a higher hp/better engine from the same manufacture in your car has always been a normal thing. de owners upgrading to a VHR, VH45 swaps, gtr turbo/manifolds on a VHR, etc

  • @toyor8888

Yeah they doing something that’s already been done and seen before. This isn’t the least bit interesting tbh. Same as everyone buying a 340 getting a built trans, slapping a single turbo, boom. The copy and paste build.
I’ll say imo, Nissan not the only ones putting vr30s on the back burner. Look at AMS, a funded company that only in 8 years accomplished a fastest of damn near mid 9s on a max effort long block built trans etc. A large role that plays into that is they have no comp, in the eu scene you got 034, apr, ie etc. There’s literally no other sponsored company for the vr30 that can contest them because they literally don’t exist. That in turns make them more lackluster on the $20k Q, and more focused on setting r35,v10,s58 bullsh*t intake manis ( that we should have alr ), slow subi products. I mean the proof in the pudding, they just dropped $1.3k catted ldps frankly a minority of people want let alone will actually buy.
Lastly, unfortunately it was B&C to bring the actual push the VR30 needed. Then the Z boosted it with cams amongst other things. That’s in no way to justify how they went about their business practices. Simply the work they developed, look at Z1 soho sonictuned all using what, A2A. 10.5 on stock turbos on prep, drag pack, A2A, fueling, dumped fdps. Before that happened. A A2W vr30 car needed wayyyyy more to achieve that. It’s simply a sad fact idk why people get hurt over it. Just look at vr30steve modlist

@toyor8888 Yeah I feel where you're coming from.. It sucks because the vr30 is still fairly new. Our German cars have had years to perfect certain things. More tuners, better support, etc. I could see why these larger companies could give a rats ass about the vr30 bro honestly. Nissan technically killed the z off with that sponsorship. Im not knocking her because i genuinely think she had no idea. When you have cheaper cars, that can make good power dropping into the 15k-23k range with low miles (in my area).. You often seeing TONS of people not willing to spend the extra cash to actually push certain products and other companies to overall give the community cheaper parts. They rather cut corners and make life for everyone miserable. So im glad i jumped ship. I was about to buy a q60 because my q50 is my daily, but I said f*** it. Then went with the 340.

@@day4061 yeah bro I’m so burnt out of having hope for this platform lmfao. It’s one thing if the motor is utter dogsh*t with HELLA support, it’s another thing when it’s shit whilst minimal support. It also doesn’t help people hop on the hate wave with no genuine real justification and simply say what was said to them as if it = truth. Granted, that’s a hate wave %50 Q owners have to take responsibility for creating, but the other half is genuine just haters hating because they think it’s cool.
I don’t want to get a b58 but it’s the only literal logical motor that makes sense to push P on amongst reliability. Simply because that’s the thing everybody is doing 😂. Like believe me I understand the hype. From the aftermarket support to the potential of it ong I do hell it’s irrefutable. Its just copy and paste builds there’s no uniqueness until you get into miscellaneous details like what size turbo, port or DI, stock/clutch pack/built trans etc. that’s when imo the build starts to get unique but on face value it’s all the same build.
You started to explain AMS partly too unintentionally 😂😂. Granted I will say they don’t have the same if not more amount of Q owners tryna go fast like their lambo r8 or r35 owners. So what do they do ? Cut corners and release half ass port inj solutions knowing likely no other company will produce such a product, overtaxing on not even fully closed deck motors. A gen1/2 b58 stroker kit is (+10k)over half LESS than a stg3 NON Stroked vr30….utterly foolish. Continuously leading on the alpha turbos when likely whole time they’ve BEEN done but yk marketing they gotta drag ts 10+ months. I can go on and on you see my point my man.
      Ted talk over, I’m sorry.😞
