It is so good that when it was over, I just sat here staring at the screen. I had no words. I have loved this song since it was first introduced to me in elementary school, about 52 years ago. This Rocked my socks off! I've seen Eluveitie three times now, and I will see them every time they are in town.
I always thought that Savatage was the best metal version, but the vocals make this the best. Loved the 'making of' video, I pissed myself laughing, half hour well spent!
THIS is how Edvard Grieg would have wanted this song played. Hell yeah, guys! On a side note, I'm loving the Norwegian with a German accent. Very cute.
Grieg never sounded so good. Crazy as I heard this in its orchestral form in the 1960s as a child. Now I'm in my 60s and it's mountainly good metallic folk.
Okay, I just watched the "Rock the Classic" episode that corresponds with this. Do you mean to tell me that the dude in pink never attended a single rehearsal then just shows up and wings it? I can't even...
You can tell we Metal Heads are not what the society calls us. In the beginning one of the head banger falls to the ground . As gentleman we are the other one lifts him up before he gets trampled....
And that is NOT an isolated thing. Every metal concert I go to is like that! The bigger people protect the little ones who want to watch peacefully up front. I like moshing, but I'm a tiny woman. So they always make sure to not hurt me. Metalheads are such wonderful people!
Hab das damals auf 3sat gesehen. Absolut genial, der ganze Beitrag. Und was Eluveitie letztendlich aus dem Bergkönig gemacht haben, ist unglaublich. "SLAKT HAM!!"
WOW!! I've never heard this piece of music played like this. This is just totally awesome!! What a crazy mishmash of instruments and it totally works !!
Wohne in Norwegen.
this song not on any album. the man with pink jacket just wanted eluveitie to play this classic music and mix with eluveitie music genre. *search on youtube with key : eluveitie rock the classic. hope can help: )
If Eluveite play "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" in the Hall of the Mountain King, maybe they can summon Mythological Creatures and make them do the moshpit 🤟😎🤘
Great rendering of this Classical piece. Great musicians on stage! Love how Anna almost can't hold laughter at 1:45, haha, she fought hard, back to normal at 1:47 then. Fortunately she did not explode and thereby maybe ruin it all, but could play on. Funny and great video altogether.
Hurdy Gurdy..ok....Basoon? ..ok... flute...? ummm ok... Bagpipes? wtf. and then I lost it at the headbangers and laughed and laughed and laughed. Thanks!!! :) not sure if Grieg is applauding or slowly rotating in his grave but I am clapping like a small child at a wiggles concert. Well done.
Not exactly what I was expecting, either. If you want to hear a metal interpretation that Grieg might be proud, Epica's version is pretty... well... epic. :)
So Greig wrote the first piece of heavy metal music and it's been covered ever since. Do like the Hurdy Gurdy, but it needs to be electric, that way it comes through.
Slagt ham! Slagt ham! Kristenmands søn har dåret Dovregubbens veneste mø! Slagt ham! Slagt ham! Isvand i blodet! Slay him! Slay him! The Christian man's son has seduced the fairest maid of the Mountain King! Slay him! Slay him! Ice water in the blood!
I speak Norwegian. The last line is wrong. They don't say friends haha. They just say "Ice water in the blood" so, whilst the rest is good the last line is poorly translated. Rock on!
When you love culture, art, tradition and music
To the hell with the traditions
Traditions are just peer pressure from asshole dead people.
@@YasWitch7that’s a loss. Traditions are traditions because they are useful or beautiful
The guy in pink feels the metal..
BassHead62 ikr lol dude needs to calm his excited ass down. Good song though
He totally came up with this project because he had a secret desire to be a metalhead. Dude knows what he wants!
Holy F. The pink guy is humping with more excitement than my dog JizzLeg
The guy in pink is the big Wigald Bohning . One of the best comedian´s in germany and yes he feels the metal ^^
But they could have upped his micro a bit....
As a metal and classical music lover it’s awesome !
Agree🤟
Anna is such a versatile singer and hurdy gurdy player. She's amazing.
Eluveitie und Wigald Bohning auf einer Bühne? Ok, jetzt hab ich alles gesehen!
imagine...if orchestra concert audience headbanging like that

Check out Cellar Darling. They're somewhat similar and just as good.
love m
Durch Zufall bei 3sat drauf gestoßen! Absolut geil!
Most of classic music compositors were metalists, they just didn't have distortion to use =)
I always thought that Savatage was the best metal version, but the vocals make this the best. Loved the 'making of' video, I pissed myself laughing, half hour well spent!
Eluveitie should make more classic metal!! Sounds awesome!!
THIS is how Edvard Grieg would have wanted this song played. Hell yeah, guys!
On a side note, I'm loving the Norwegian with a German accent. Very cute.
This is by far the coolest thing I've heard all year. Thank you for uploading!!!!! ♥♥♥

That's not terribly unusual, especially with classical music. That's not to say he's not incredibly skilled :)
2 Words = Fucking Awesome
0:11 that's what we need more of: people looking out for one another in the pit. kudos to the guy helping dude who fell down!

Oh dear jebus, that's awesome

Anna
Is that the Batman logo on Anna's Hurdy Gurdy?
+MetalDrow17 Oh yes, yes it is ;)
+xBenjiSx no, this is not Batman. This is Läderlappen.
:D
+MetalDrow17 I noticed that too. I wonder what she would tell us???

Very Well Done!
3:40 It's a madhouse!!!! A madhouse!!!!
Impressing experiment. Danke Herr Boning (the guy in pink).

Anyone know which (if any) album they recorded this on? I need to pay for and own this.

When folk metal takes a folk song and gives it a doom metal ring to it.
Fuck. Yes.
Best cover EVER!!
Maravillosa melodía

Almost as good as the Svatage version, its awesome nonetheless.
Das muss ins nächste Album :D

Why isn't this on iTunes?
OMG. Yes. I can't find this anywhere.
I just wonder how amazing this song will sound when it does not get compressed by RUclips
The beginning is goofy, but damn does it build... This was great.
Bassoon was fucking made for this song. Like I know that's a weird thing to point, but without that bassoon part, this song would of lacked by a lot
already have theatre of tragedy
title from savatage ??
ok thank you
I weep over this beer in 00:11
Are they saying "Lockdown" or " Long Jump"? 🙄
It looked like they were going to do the "wall of death" inz the beginning...
The classical version. Not the song by Sabatage of the same name.
👍
Celtic metal chicks rule!

I was kind of hoping for a Savatage cover but you can't go wrong with Edvard Grieg.

Am I the only one who thought of savatage all the time?
someone to write the lyrics to this song please
