    Actually, corsets fell out of favor originally because of world war I, at the time everyone was rationing EVERYTHING to help the war efforts, and women were told to stop wearing corsets because they took up too much steel and fabric that could have been used to help their country. and women were okay with this change for the most part because it made working the factory jobs the men left behind much easier todo when they could actually bend their waists. and women found that the liked corset free lives so after the war was over they just kept corset free, there were no "free the waist!' movements like there were with bras and boobs in the 60's and now. no back in those days feminism was more about being able to have a political voice and better work opportunities, not telling corset makers and fashion houses to shove them where the sun don't shine.

    • @AnnekeOosterink
      @AnnekeOosterink 7 лет назад +7

      Exactly. Add to that, corsets weren't actually dangerous or uncomfortable. As an aside, everyone wore corsets, poor and rich, working women and the women rich enough to be 'idle'. If corsets were so impossible or uncomfortable to wear women wouldn't be able to work in them. But they did.

    The ancient Egyptians also wore it as a sign of status. The pharaohs, queens and nobles got incredibly heavy and complex eyeliner while commoners got mild and more simple eyeliner. They believed that lining their eyes was a sign of faith to the gods and would bring them luck. Hence, why eyeliner was so commonly used in ancient Egypt

    Before Kylie Jenner wore wigs, women of colour were wearing wigs throughout the 20th and 21st century. People also wore them all through history. Most of the time women of colour didn't wear them for a fashion trend or accessory they felt like they had to wear them because they were shamed by Society for having naturally curly hair and all of a sudden in the early 21st century white clebrities like Kylie Jenner are making wearing wigs a cool fashion statement for some reason when a white woman wears something like a bindi or a wig it becomes a new fashion trend but when a person of colour for any other ethnicity where's something that is religious or part of a culture their shamed for it

    That's very cool about the Egyptian eyeliner. They have also found another reason for wearing it though. They found writings indicating the pyramid workers had government issued make-up kits and it acted like primitive sunglasses as well. Like football players today use it to cut the glare on the field, the Egyptians realized it helped eye strain in the blinding sun. They also found that workers would strike and refuse to work if they didn't have it. I don't blame them a bit, lol! Good video!

    Africans also wore/wear jewellery on their faces, especially West African and central African tribes. Wigs have never come out of style!! Some of the hair styles have changes over time, but never wig-wearing. It's mostly people of African descent who wear wigs and other hair extensions, because many have short, curly hair, which may at times be hard to manage. So, you need to do more research and not mislead people!

    In the 90s, the Kardashian's inspired Madonna to start wearing corsets!

    `Brooke Shields's eyebrows were making headlines in the 80s even. That's way, way, way before Cara Delevigne. And the Kardashians are being given credit for trends that they did not popularise. Maybe the Kardashians secretly own TheTalko.

    I think it's nuts that Kylie is credited with making wigs popular with young people as if sex workers and ravers never existed before her.

    I can't believe Kyle's wigs dominated the comments lol, I LOVE bindi's. I think anyone who wears them is beautiful! I don't think it's anything but a compliment to the Hindu women who originated it.

    We Indians have been putting kohl around our eyes for centuries. We, in fact, still do. 'Kajal' is what we call it.

    BREAKING NEWS! Although people have been eating food for years it is thought that Kylie has put it back on the map!
    What would we do without her! Kylie for President!
    (I hope you read this with sarcasm and a eye roll at the end.)

    Kylie and Katrastians have never invented anything and shouldn't be mentioned. My grandmother is the queen of wigs...she's almost 80's and been wearing wigs since in her 20's....I don't know why she wears them.

    Kylie Jenner didn't reinvent wigs...Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Nicki Minaj were all really well known for wigs before her time, and before that there have been cosplayers, and other stars in the 2000's / 90's, along with people who wear weaves/wigs everyday. She really didn't do anything except adopt a trend.
