I'm not certain why anyone would criticize this swing. Literally the only thing that Jim does is take the 2nd quarter of the swing away, (I break up the swing into four parts when watching others swing) the rest of the swing is just like a traditional swing and this way produces good consistent golf shots. Pre-setting a portion of the swing just takes away things that can go wrong and cause issues in the swing. This is awesome, keep teaching Jim, eff those who refuse to have an open mind. Thanks for the videos!
Jim - I’ve been playing championship golf for 50 years. I adopted your method (with slightly less preset pivot) last summer and had great results. I shaved a shot off my handicap to +2. and won a couple tournaments against the young guys. Great stuff, thank you!
This guy has changed my golf game forever after years of playing and $1000s on golf instruction ...THIS JUST WORKS ! I have never hit the ball straighter or better in my life . Thanks Jim . Jim has totally changed my swing, from an over the top player with a bad back to a confident ball striking player. I signed up for his academy about 4 months ago, i did whatever he suggested and watched all the videos and sent videos of my swing to him. He replies quickly and is very good with his critiques. I am now at the stage where i am going to send him a video of me hitting the driver with my new swing. I really think i have it down and cant wait to show him and hear his critique to help me get even better. I went from a 12 hdc down to a 7 right now, yes i know...kinda slow but im doing things slowly here because i want to get it right and be able to repeat my swing over and over, so far so good. Like i always say " whats the sense of going to the doctor if you dont do what he says ? ). It feels weird to start with but eveything Jim said to me was 100% correct as to what will happen if you do his method. The guy is good!!!
I use this swing. Keep lower body still but turn shoulders on backswing a little. Clear left hip at impact with little push back. Best golf of my life. I'm 74, thanks Jim.
I’ve been following you for quite a while, decided to take the plunge. It took me couple days to really keep the weight on my lead leg. The yardage I’m getting on my clubs is unbelievable. The only problem is I’m hitting my shots left of the target, I’ve being trying to keep my shoulders closed through impact. I’m a believer. Thanks one happy golfer
The proof is in Jim's Pudding. I'm trying like heck to mirror it. Why? With all the great teachers out there, like Shawn Clements (of Canada), no less, who arguably teach an easier swing. Jim's swing is logical and makes common sense because it accomplishes everything "golf's leading ambassadors" seek to communicate to the throng of would-be single-digits. Wide, long swing path = power. Easy power, in other words without overswinging, which is the #1 example of coming over-the-top, producing the dreaded fade, slice and loss of power that ails golfers worldwide. Stillness. Jim's keyword. One swing thought Jim firmly speaks about: Stay still with weight (70% or so) on the front side, with hips angled to the inside (25% or so). This creates the length (power) swing path (inside-to-out) which produces easy power (no over-swinging). And from there: let every other part of the anatomy, like closed shoulders happen naturally. Watch Jim's Swing, especially the shoulders. It's his arms that set the club not the position of his shoulders. I used to feel giddy when I'd see the ball behind my lead shoulder, meaning I'd crossed the rubicon, a full shoulder turn, and occasionally I'd bomb one out there, underlining all the bad habits. Set the club with your arms. Keep the shoulders closed. Stay still weight forward. And hit the draws all day.
I was once a 7 hdcp before divorce and turmoil in my life resulting in not playing for years. I'm now a high handicapper and have given this methodology a try. I haven't hit a golf ball this solidly and consistently in years. HIGHLY recommended!
Been doing this for about a week now and my game has improved drastically. I struggled with consistency and would often top the ball, but now that I’ve changed to your set up and swing, Jim, I’m hitting much more consistently and actually create divots after the ball! My shots haven’t produced a draw yet, they fly dead straight, but it’s better than what I was doing.. I’m definitely going to become a member and continue learning from you! Thanks Jim!
Just like Jim's closed golf stance does a terrific job stopping "coming over the top", Lee Trevino advocates varying the ball location relative to right and left feet to suit the golfer. Trevino tells how he had a hard job contacting the ball until he shifted the ball location to suit his swing. I think this is also true with Jim Venetos' golf posture and body stance. Move the ball forward or back to get a better contact. It worked for me after I had serious problems with contact using Jim's stance.
Jim, I have probably watched all of your videos; this one has already been watched and listened to 5-7 times. And, although you may have referenced "pre-set" in a prior video - I know you have referenced a free-throw shooter and someone throwing a dart - but that language really resonated with me in this video. More than "stillness", "pre-set" (the words) truly spoke to me. It made me wonder, "How much of golf can we 'pre-set'?" Can we "pre-set" the entire backswing? Your words have certainly provoked some thought. Thank you!!
Sir Jim Venetos, Hi, you are absolutely right. I did my longest shot with the same position as you do for three days then, I tried to swing irons such as iron 4 then returned to swing the wood driver but, I could not make it for two days, finally, my subconscious mind helped me and I did it again with the same position as yours and I was thinking why I am different from everyone else in the whole world so I thought to watch your videos again and as always, yes this is it, I found out yes, I am right and this is the way my body works. God bless you, hope to meet you in person one day. Shawn from London.
I tried this on Monday as the driving ranges opened here in Ontario after the winter. It flat out works! Not only was it going further, but straight on a rope with a 3-5 yard draw as Jim mentions everytime. It does feel weird as when you are in the swing your mind is thinking that this is not going to go very far. But, it was covering more distance than the traditional teaching of loading your weight to one side and back to the lead side. Thanks Jim!
This does make sense. I have a question though. When you set up as Jim recommends - do you place the club face square to your intended target, or do you face it square to your body orientation and let the "Draw" do the work to getting the ball to land where you want it to land? It's so hard to tell from his videos and no tracer to see the ball flight. Thanks in advance.
I am recently retired and am 67 years old. With retirement, I have devoted considerable time on the driving range to address my swing and improving my scoring. Being 6’2” tall, I have had the tendency of “coming over the top” and NOT having that smooth, effortless swing that I have desired. “Taking the leap of faith”, I now have an effortless swing that has added consistency and yardage to my game. I am a member of a course that is reputed to be the last course that Sam Sneed designed. It is a course that requires active thought on where to place the ball for your next shot. With the changes I have made to my swing by watching your videos, I can now concentrate on playing the shot as opposed to reacting to the shot I just made. Thank you!!! James
I love this swing. I'm 57 and just retired and now I have time to play a lot more golf. I'm hitting my short irons, long irons and hybrids good with a little draw. I'm having a little problem with my driver. I'll hit 1 or 2 great but then I'll hit a pull draw. I think I'm trying to hit it hard or my old swing is creeping in.
I've been fighting fat shots and topped shots forever because shifting my weight is difficult. I tried graves golf instruction and a few others but nothing has helped as much as this instruction. This instruction has changed everything for me. I can now hit it straight shots every time. Always a nice draw. Fat and topped shots are no longer a part of the game !! Jim thank you so much this has saved my game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just tried this for the driver 2 days ago. Was at 7,000ft in flagstaff went 390. Didn’t even feel like I went at it hard. In the Phx valley usually carry 280. Thx for the help!!
It would be great to see a driver shot shaping short or lesson. I’m a member! I get fades are less desirable after seeing the crazy result from a draw with this effortless swing and spin it creates. But sometimes more fun to fade around a dog leg right versus going over the pine trees!
I just stumbled upon your videos, and you make sense. I've been struggling with old school teachings, and now have been doing stack and tilt with some success. I think its worth a few swings to try your method out...heck, it sure can't hurt my swing..lol
I'm with you. I can't excessively close at setup. I'm more neutral but still pivot onto lesd leg and my chest stays facing ball thru impact and it is very powerful and very efficient swing
I like the scenery. It reminds me of the West Australian outback. What I like more is you have never changed the setup position. Watched tons of golf instruction videos and no one has explained the feeling and the theory of the swing as well as Jim Venetos. It has helped me as a chronic out to in hitter to become an inside to out swinger. Cannot believe the difference it has made after 35 years of on/ off golf to take me from fader/slicer to getting a straight trajectory with some balls having a draw. The only thing I noticed was keeping my head in the same level position throughout the swing being crucial for me to get consistent ball contact. Many thanks Jim.
I've watched your swing Vid' and I understand the concept, so much so that I had today's round totally with your swing, even though I never practice it first. I'm a right side dominate player, it was a battle to keep still and loaded on the left.. at times my brain jumped in on the down swing and said,, Ye now use your right shoulder, clear your hips and hit it like a hammer. swing failed there. But!! I can tell you.. the left load, quiet , 45deg, in to out swing, no power push gave me the sweetest baby draws,, from my 3 wood to my 8 iron.. I've always been a long hitter but that's using my my whole body 4-5 dynamic motions, When I told my friend today, I'm only going to use my new swing,, he said,, Why, you already draw the ball and hit long.. I do I said, but i want to have less movement, simplify my swing and get similar distance with more accuracy , that alone is worth trying, for me.. I would say it was a 65% success rate with this new swing.. Very happy.. but the only thing I stumbled over was where the ball should be at address, If it was more forward, it would draw to much, if it was back, it would push to the right You say to look over my left shoulder and see where my swing path is going,, but I'm still not sure were the ball should be. because as I move to a 45 deg by moving my right leg back and open,, should the ball be in the middle of that stance or in the middle of the stance I have before I open up to 45 deg.. ?? can you show me a front on view, at first address and then show the open 45 deg stance , Please? thanks It's still a breath of fresh air for me.
Hey Jim just wanted to let you know that you're set up is almost like the backhand as it is taught in racquetball which I used to play competitively. Your set up feels very comfortable when I put the right foot back left shoulder forward shoulders closed. This setup is nearly identical to it so I'm excited about using your setup. I had left hip replacement and I've strengthened it enough now I can put my weight completely on it so I'm excited to see what happens with my game. thanks again
The set up really throws my alignment off and my game has suffered significantly as a result. However, I made a few tweaks (lead leg still planted into the ground, but trail foot slightly back with shoulders less closed), and my striking has never been more consistent. Just goes to show that each person responds differently to different styles. However, within each style, there may be some nuggets that individuals can utilize to catapult their game.
I too have been using this drill with my driver and I hit it WAY better than when I take my normal stance. Tomorrow I am going to do it on the course. 12:15 tee time!!!
Love it. I'm a new convert, having tried all the 'well proven' teaching systems over many years! Simples in theory, but it does take practice to stay still. Please would you give more face-on shots of your swing too, please? I know you anchor your weight on the left side but, down the line does not show ball position at address as clearly. Also with driver, I have tended to lean back to assist launch loft. I've always had too much spin and a climbing flight with little or no run out. Guess what, soft draw reasonable flight but with 30 yards roll now. Many thanks!
There is no one golf swing technique fits all people, as you see among all those PGA players. For the rest of us weekend players, JVGA is reputable institute of this difficult golf sport, this is the one that suits all age groups. Jim's swing technique is so warranted as many JV students got thrilled with their first 9 iron baby draw shot. I did.
I've been using jims teachings for 7 months now and I gotta tell ya all I can hit are draws the system he teaches literally changes your instints if you practice it enough I don't even have to really think about my swing path anymore its automatically how I swing now into out I just have to focus on staying more still and not swing hard and when I do I feel like a pro golfer its very powerful I can hit 7 iron almost 200 yards and the harder I try to swing the shorter the shot goes its crazy but its true 100% i can hit driver 260 plus yards with a 2 3 yard draw right down target line without trying to And before all I could do was slice big time I recommend everyone to swing this way its something that takes time to get used too and i too still have alot to learn but man once you do get it down its a game changer just take the time to really learn it and stick with it awhile and do what jim ask you thats all it takes
I really want to believe this swing will work. It would be a god send if true…I have gone to the range and tried a few times to get an idea of this and my distance was poor compared to my traditional swing. I obviously don’t expect to hit it perfectly but wanted something to give some confidence…how long did it take to start hitting it well?
@@MartialGolf well the biggest hurdle is thinking your doing it and that not being the case it takes some time and really having jim watching your swing and guiding you is key there is no lost of distance when done correctly I gained distance I hit 9 iron 150 7 iron 170 carry distance they don't roll out much maybe 3 4 yards its not easy to keep so much weight on the front foot while in motion but once you start doing it there's nothing better
@@gibsonjk4 Thank you….it would be a big leap of faith to commit to this as I’m sure it’s not something you can just dabble with and expect to hit well so I appreciate hearing from an actual student
@@wyo7215 because you turn your shoulders when you pivot closed and can't turn them anymore in the back swing think of the pivot as your back swing the deeper you pivot the more width you get in the back swing then let the arms drop and let momentum open your shoulders after contact with the ball not before if your opening your shoulders early your not getting closed enough and your swinging to hard
Jim, I had a problem with a bad slice I’m talking 50-100 yards. I would setup to play that to get me back into the fairway. That’s when I’d usually hit the ball straight but I’d hit it straight in the direction I was pointed to it would be a massive shot too, about 300 yards, so I started to preset the weight in the front leg, foot towards the target and ball and I’d set the trail foot back and at a 45 degree angle. I’ve cut my handicap from 25 to 10. It will go down further only starting on my 3rd year of playing golf. I was playing like 120 on a round of 18 now I’m in the 80s
@@patrickwheeler1979 hit my furthest drive of my life other day it was a 22 mph wind with me 386 yards when I measured. It's been awhile since that first initial comment I'm now down to a 3.1 hdcp
I cannot tell you how wonderful this fresh instruction has changed my game. Golfing is so much more fun! And I have a chance now to make a few winning bets. Thanks Jim!!!!
The stillness is what really resonates with me. All those dancing back and forth moves provides 0 value. Love staying on the left side and crashing irons. Sooo much fun!
I’m definitely going to try your method. The simplicity makes sense. 2 questions. First, where is the ball position in relation to your setup (driver still forward and irons more center), and second, is the club face still square to the target at setup or a little open?
Jim will you please consider getting a track man or similar device with shot tracing capabilities so we can see your ball flight other than watching it fly into a sunny sky? You emphasize a tight draw but I can’t see it. Please consider. Keep up with the great content man.
Jim, I have 1 question for you if you don't mind. When you've pivted onto your left, at address where is your club face pointing? Is it square to the intednded target or slightly to teh right of the intended target.
I learned this on more of the “stack and tilt” side of it but your idea of the weight planted on your lead side has elevated my game to almost scratch. At our level I believe this should be taught more than it is. It’s also much easier to perform under pressure when your brain goes mush and you need to hit a shot.
Just discovered this guy by some divine accident 😇. Fantastic explanations!! No one better. Will be passing him on to my golf mates,renamed...The Guru in the Sand!!🙏England .UK
I see why this works! You don't need to turn the shoulders because they are already in the correct position from the "Right Amount" of a closed stance.
0:08: Holy shit...what a long back swing... I`m not able to swing as far back as you do when I use your system. Is this long back swing needed? Doug Sanders as an example had a short back swing... Jim Dent was a long ball striker with a relatively short backswing. 5:27: Not sacrificing the closed set up position is an important point of this system. Sorry for the bad english. I´m from Germany, but I use your system since two years. Most of the fellows on the driving range laugh down when I accomplish your system. In order to persist, I compare your system with the invention of the V-Style in Skijumping. In spite of it all, I still belivieve in your methode and working to conduct it properly.
Where do you have thr ball positioned when this closed? Thanks I've gone from 5 to 9 due to minus 11 left issues come from nowhere this year so going to try this !!
I like your concepts in the golf swing. How can a golfer gain distance without generating club head speed? Also, ball placement for different clubs and lies?
Just out of curiosity, do you think Knudson, and even Hogan were (perhaps unknowingly) also trying to produce setup positions (ie; right foot back and flared) that produced this more “anatomically-friendly” swing? Just wondering.
so you emphasize the shoulders and the feet both being closed to the target but no mention of the club face. Should it be facing the same or more towards the target which normally would be the middle of the fairway which would have the club face closed to the alignment .
It would be good if we could see the ball flight and direction in the video. The video looks like the ball was launched about 30 degrees right of the line of your tee box. Obviously it’s not, but it just looks that way.
Copy that. I’m always hitting shots off the right center of my mat. Generally drawing to the telephone pole in the distance. When I hit off grass, I do the same.
Clubface is square to the swing path. The ball draws from the swing path. Those who need to close the face to hit a draw have a less efficient swing path.
@@jimvenetosgolf just curious. Why would the ball draw if the face was square to the swing path, which is to the right of the intended target. There is no side spin to the ball to make it draw if we don't close the face. Clearly you need to spin it at contact.
@@Ktc99999-b I understand your confusion because you can’t know what you don’t know. I have a large bank of experience and expertise with hitting a draw and teaching golfers like you how to hit a draw. As I said, the ball draws from the swing path with a clubface that is square to the swing path. To help your, think about it like this…when you kick a soccer ball and it hooks, are you closing your foot or are your kicking the inside corner of the ball with an inside out swing path?
@@jimvenetosgolf well if I want the soccer ball to spin, I would kick it at he outside corner if I want it to hook, not inside corner, with my feet square at the ball with an inside in kick.
@@Ktc99999-b You are thinking about the physics in a unconventional way. Think about applying spin to a tennis ball; by hitting low and inside and finishing high with the forehand you impart hook spin/top spin. It works the same with the golf ball or soccer ball, the swing path dictates the spin; now if you want an aggressive hook you could close the face, but we are not getting to that level of aggressive spin; additionally, you could aggressively turn the club over through the strike.
You’re not hitting the ground before the ball because you’re not rotating your body. You’re hitting the ground before the ball because your weight is hanging back on your trail foot. The correction is to improve your set up position and keep your weight anchored on the lead foot. The swing I teach works. It works for you. It works for your friends. it works for your children. It simply works if you apply the system properly.
From baseball as a youngster to golf as an adult, I can't seem to overcome the urge to hit the ball to shortstop instead of second base. I don't know what it is or how to overcome it. I've hit enough good shots to second base to fully understand that it is a more powerful and effortless path but my body wants to pull the ball to shortstop for some reason.
Your shoulders are opening in the downswing. You can fix that by closing your body in the set up and learning how to keep your shoulders closed through impact. Sign up, I’ll show you how to do that.
@@jimvenetosgolf Again, on #1 I’m assuming the club head is set square to the target. I’m a newbie to your channel and like what I see but less is always more when it comes to talking. Visuals over audio!👍
Thanks for sharing, Jim. You say that this set-up creates a shallow, circular and descending swing with an Iron in hand. Does this apply to Driver also? Don't we need to tee it high and or move the ball to forward?
Love the technique. A question: for the driver, do you still set up w say 70% of your weight on the lead side, or do you balance it out a bit? thank you.
Jim the only thing I struggle with is the beginning of swing ie a hitch to get swing in motion. Yes I disregard movements of hands and arms but having tough time starting from a static start
I used to a one legged drill where 99% of my weight was on the left side and could FLUSH it from there. When I went back to normal inconsistency crept back in. Could never figure it out. Why the hell could I strike it this well on just 1 leg. Well.. now I see what Jim is doing. Bingo!
Hey Jim it’s me JB, last year when I took a couple months of lessons. I really like your technique and then later realized it’s a form of stack and tilt as a comment previously mentioned. Your style is really working for me and appreciate you shoving me in the right direction. 😎
I can see where the draw comes from. But, what if the hole happens to have a dog-leg right, and a fade or straight shot is required? Still have a closed stance? Thanks.
You have to adjust the stance to promote a out to in swing; which produces the fade to slice ball flight. So, its about understanding your swing, and how to accomplish the shot in front of you. You can produce a slice from a closed stance, but it is easier; at least, for me to moderate the stance. So, the stock shot is from the closed stance, but when faced with a particular situation, you might need to adjust your position.
Love the swing, and any high handicapper can benefit. Curious how you determine how much draw is coming, and how you aim? When I hit a more conventional, straight shot, there's a window and dispersion pattern. When I hit a draw, the contact is even more solid, but the pattern gets wider. Thoughts Jim?
That draw can be very dependent on your ball and equipment; some game improvement irons are very difficult to draw, even with the pronounced setup. Consequently, practice and feel become your guiding light. The clubs can make a HUGE difference.
I've always thought this would kind of make sense because most people have trouble clearing their hips and early extension with their right side always coming out towards the ball AKA humping the goat.
Reminds me of the story of Wilt Chamberlain who shot over 80 percent free throws under handed and 40 percent over handed. Because it was so different he stopped doing under hand free throws. All my buddies laugh at my set up. I will eventually get this and the laughs will turn into dollars lost to me!
I have been trying this and it seems to work but I do see you are not so still in the downswing. There seems to be a slight bump or weight shift. Am I wrong? Really trying to convince my wife your lessons would be worth it!
Copy that. I don’t state that you should keep your hips still in the downswing but I do state that I hold my shoulders closed through impact. My lessons are definitely worth it if you enjoy hitting solid tight draws and understanding why you miss.
@Jim Venetos Golf Academy thanks I know, you do make that clear, and I know it works , I just nead to know does it feil like only your arms are moving, free of your chest

Hi Jim, I circled back to your channel after a couple years. Helped me so much. You taught me how to be a left armed golfer with right handed clubs.
@@MMcG25 I set the face of the club to the intended target first.
Mate I have been trying your iron shots for the last couple of rounds… amazing, hitting further and straighter than I ever have!!
Great stuff Jim, you're the Dos Equis man of golf instruction!
James
You are welcome James...tip of the iceberg
Poplar Grove,Jim??
Wow watched this video this morning went to the range and tried it Big Time difference Thanks Coach 👍👍👍
Many thanks Jim.
under appreciated - I imagine Jim living in one of the trailers...
Looks like the high desert at the California / Nevada border.
I've always been a long hitter but that's using my my whole body 4-5 dynamic motions,
When I told my friend today, I'm only going to use my new swing,, he said,, Why, you already draw the ball and hit long..
I do I said, but i want to have less movement, simplify my swing and get similar distance with more accuracy , that alone is worth trying, for me..
I would say it was a 65% success rate with this new swing..
Very happy.. but the only thing I stumbled over was where the ball should be at address, If it was more forward, it would draw to much, if it was back, it would push to the right
You say to look over my left shoulder and see where my swing path is going,, but I'm still not sure were the ball should be. because as I move to a 45 deg by moving my right leg back and open,, should the ball be in the middle of that stance or in the middle of the stance I have before I open up to 45 deg.. ?? can you show me a front on view, at first address and then show the open 45 deg stance , Please? thanks It's still a breath of fresh air for me.
I’ve struggled with this change but it’s getting better. Really helps chipping. Thanks Jim.
Yep I just found this video and went out to the short game area and have never chipped that well in my life!
Is the club face aligned with the shoulders or closed facing the target?
I too have been using this drill with my driver and I hit it WAY better than when I take my normal stance. Tomorrow I am going to do it on the course. 12:15 tee time!!!
I have wasted 10 months trying to play golf until I stumbled across your golf lessons. Two weeks in and I’m hooked.
Incredible Lessons Jim thank you for all you do!

I did.
There is definitely something to stillness. Jim is able to describe it well.
How did you work on not turning your shoulders in the backswing!!! This has been hard for me.
Jim's swing has changed my game! It's the only way I can hit a solid shot, now. I can get rid of my 10 different swing thoughts I used to have!
That's called a power fade just aim for the next fairway over and pull it around.
@@patrickwheeler1979 hit my furthest drive of my life other day it was a 22 mph wind with me 386 yards when I measured. It's been awhile since that first initial comment I'm now down to a 3.1 hdcp

Keep up the great work!! I hope to rejoin the academy and finish my training. In the meanwhile, stay still!
Trying it tomorrow. Have practiced this but keep drifting out of it again.
I’ve just started using this method .

Thanks for simplifying ⛳️
for Driver, where do you keep the ball and how high?
I cannot tell you how wonderful this fresh instruction has changed my game. Golfing is so much more fun! And I have a chance now to make a few winning bets.
Thanks Jim!!!!
Thank you for your videos Jim! You kept me from walking away from the game!
Me too!
Two main points I see.
1.Stillness.
2.Keep space at right side.
Thanks Jim.
Spot on
The stillness is what really resonates with me. All those dancing back and forth moves provides 0 value. Love staying on the left side and crashing irons. Sooo much fun!
Get ahead of the ball and stay ahead of the ball! As easy as that. And it works through the bag... this swing is a godsend!
Hi Jim
A big thank you from the UK.
You have transformed my game and I am finally enjoying my game like never before.
Thanks mate.
Mike
This makes so much sense. How come if it’s simple it always works. Thanks
I’m definitely going to try your method. The simplicity makes sense. 2 questions. First, where is the ball position in relation to your setup (driver still forward and irons more center), and second, is the club face still square to the target at setup or a little open?
Hey Jim,
When you address the ball, do you square the club face to the target line or your swing path???
Target. Forgive me, but I think that is the answer, even though my name is not Jim lol
Square to the swing path which is slightly inside out….
That’s definitely a question that should be answered. With a totally closed stance, it appears that the ball will go right. Very confusing.
Jim, when are you coming out to Dallas?
Went through San Antonio this year. Will probably be taking the northern route next year, but you can sign up for the school today!
Excellent method of playing the game.
I like this swing I am more consistent now I do not have as many swing thoughts, weight shift, etc.
I learned this on more of the “stack and tilt” side of it but your idea of the weight planted on your lead side has elevated my game to almost scratch. At our level I believe this should be taught more than it is. It’s also much easier to perform under pressure when your brain goes mush and you need to hit a shot.
I hear ya Zack. I’m there too
Just discovered this guy by some divine accident 😇. Fantastic explanations!! No one better. Will be passing him on to my golf mates,renamed...The Guru in the Sand!!🙏England .UK
Only one question- is the club face pointed right or is it square to target?
I generate a high club head speed. I just don’t do it by swinging hard. I do it with good swing path. All explained in my school.
I see that you roll your wrist at impact alot. Do you think this could cause some timing issues?
unbelievable.... remarkable.... accuarate........... intelligent...... incredible THANK YOU
It would be good if we could see the ball flight and direction in the video.
Really like this train of thought 🏌️♂️⛳️
Is that clubface square to the line of flight at takeoff? Some teach that to draw one aims the clubface at the intended target. Does it matter?
Hi Jim I’m 80 tried your swing keeping my shoulders 45degree with body not turning but tendency is to hit ground before ball as not rotating the body?
You’re not hitting the ground before the ball because you’re not rotating your body. You’re hitting the ground before the ball because your weight is hanging back on your trail foot. The correction is to improve your set up position and keep your weight anchored on the lead foot.
The swing I teach works. It works for you. It works for your friends. it works for your children. It simply works if you apply the system properly.
Great instruction.
Made my third hole in one in the last 18 months with this set up.
Right on! Congrats! 👊
Do I need a strong grip and or release right hand over left forcefully?
Mr.Venetos, are your foot positions the same as Hogan's?
1: with your closed stance, do you square the club head?
2: how do you find your range balls?😊

Thanks for sharing, Jim. You say that this set-up creates a shallow, circular and descending swing with an Iron in hand. Does this apply to Driver also? Don't we need to tee it high and or move the ball to forward?

looks like the Stack and Tilt. swing...(which I like)
Hey Jim it’s me JB, last year when I took a couple months of lessons. I really like your technique and then later realized it’s a form of stack and tilt as a comment previously mentioned. Your style is really working for me and appreciate you shoving me in the right direction. 😎
Copy that JB but it’s not a form of s&t. If your familiar with s&t the differences are significant.
I can see where the draw comes from. But, what if the hole happens to have a dog-leg right, and a fade or straight shot is required? Still have a closed stance? Thanks.
Just hit it from the other side 👍🏻
You have to adjust the stance to promote a out to in swing; which produces the fade to slice ball flight. So, its about understanding your swing, and how to accomplish the shot in front of you. You can produce a slice from a closed stance, but it is easier; at least, for me to moderate the stance. So, the stock shot is from the closed stance, but when faced with a particular situation, you might need to adjust your position.
@@teddyzamba1396 I understand that. I'm just saying that Jim's whole swing set up is based primarily on a draw flight path.
@@bengolfs1 You indicated you did not understand compatibility of the stance with a left to right shot; hence the reply.
@@bengolfs1 Jim can hit any shape or trajectory. He will show you how.
I have many videos in my school that will answer that question thoroughly
That draw can be very dependent on your ball and equipment; some game improvement irons are very difficult to draw, even with the pronounced setup. Consequently, practice and feel become your guiding light. The clubs can make a HUGE difference.
How many times have you hit the rusty post to your right? (shanked)

Can you hit a fade with the swing that you type?
Yes, it’s easy, all explained in my school

Is this very similar to Stack and Tilt?
Nothing like it
I've always thought this would kind of make sense because most people have trouble clearing their hips and early extension with their right side always coming out towards the ball AKA humping the goat.

Can you comfirm that the setup is also close ( to the right of the target?)
Maintaining weight on the lead foot and shoulder 45°and swing the arm.
Where is the club head pointed at setup in relation to your body?
The club face is square to my swing path
What if you have to
fad the ball on certain holes that's a requirement
Hi Jim what's the feeling in your right shoulder as you swing back, does it rock upwards or move backwards, hope that makes it clear what I mean.
My trail shoulder definitely doesn’t rock upward. What moves in my swing is a product of the set up and keeping your weight anchored.
@Jim Venetos Golf Academy thanks I know, you do make that clear, and I know it works , I just nead to know does it feil like only your arms are moving, free of your chest
