S&W's website (today anyway) says the width is .88 inch. I presume that's at its widest point, not necessarily the main part of the slide which would be slightly less. The current BG .380 is listed as .75" wide, again not sure where that's measured.
I'm no longer interested in the LCP MAX for various reasons. I prefer the size, the texture enhancements, the beaver tail, and ergonomics on this Bodyguard 2.0. Those sights are very similar to the excellent sights on the Hellcat, and to me look even better. I'd have that type of sights on all my pistols eventually, if it's possible. I'm assuming that this pistol will have very solid reliability like the Shields. The only thing I would change on this would be to have a built in green laser.
I owned the original Bodyguard version for 5 years. It was primarily for summer EDC. I never liked it much. I had issues getting the proper grip and the slide would bite the webbing of my hand unless I altered my grip constantly. The trigger was not good, and it had feeding issues frequently no matter what type of ammo I used. I sent it back to S&W for repair and it performed better but I sold it a few weeks later. I just couldn't trust it when it came to a self-defense situation. My fault for not trying other .380 models, which may have suited me better. Hope the 2.0 is a winner.
I shot mine yesterday at my LGR and I was extremely impressed! I shot the PMC Bronze Ammo and I had no failures at all, right out of the box! This is now my new EDC carry in a front pocket holster! For Me, the slide was extremely hard to rack but doable and I needed the Uplula loading tool for loading these magazines and I was able to load both mags easily to their limit. The sights worked great for me and I was able to acquire a quick site picture with very accurate results at a self defense distance! I will shoot another box of 50 round ammo next week but this will not be a range toy, considering the price of $20 per box of ammo! My final review of this gun is Excellent for my needs!
You found the perfect micro carry Smith and Wesson bodyguard 2.0 Mary that with the magpul Daka utility organizer. Absolutely a perfect fit in a Ziploc rubberized case Slim secure and as neat as you’d ever want. It’ll fit your gun your magazine but unfortunately not yet almost 50 page manual which is also out of this world
I have been carrying the Bodyguard guard for many many years . The main reason I chose the Bodyguard was the hammer fired second strike capability of the Bodyguard. It's a little semi-automatic pistol that works like a revolver. I have been waiting for years for this high capacity version to come out . I love the look . I'm 100% Disappointed in the fact that S&W has chosen to take away the Best features of The Bodyguard pistol. HAMMER FIRED SECOND STRIKE CAPABILITY !
Issues with mine thus far. Racking 12 round into chamber, it doesn't feed into chamber. Gets stuck. Lock slide back. Pull out magazine. Bullet flies out of ejection port across the room. Racking into chamber manually doesn't work with 12 round mag. Have to rack fast and hard with 10 round to avoid this problem. Also dry firing, sometimes trigger pull hits sticky point. Going to copy paste this in other 2.0 videos
First review of this problem! I never try to load more than 12 rounds in mine and I always have one in the chamber and 11 in the magazine which gives me 12 rounds in gun! After about 500 rounds I will try to carry with a 12 + one load but not until a good break in time! It's a New Gun, so give it a chance & trigger will get better in time!
@stevekatz4372 The channel "She Equips Herself" points this issue out with certain ammo. It makes sense to me. 2 parts to feed the ramp. Where the bullet meets the casing gets hung up. Try a variety of ammo.
@@Aaron-ro4kvI saw the video, and never seen a two stage feed ramp till now. My LCP max runs great I think I’ll keep it, but did have the chance to check out the BG2.0 at my local gun store it does feel good but didn’t purchase it at least for now.
Thank you for the review. One of the best I've seen, super informative without the needless filler talk. I plan on acquiring this gun once the initial hype wears off. It and the LPC Max really are worthy upgrades to the originals of both, as well as the Sig P238.
Very nice improvements over the original. First thing I noticed was the improved sight radius which will help with accuracy. Wish you would have mentioned that. I still like my original Bodyguard. It has its place in my EDC line up. It's a summertime get off me gun. Would not use it past seven yards. My regular EDC is and will continue to be my P365XL.
LCP Max had some design flaws and was not reliable/trustworthy enough for me. Had to send it back to Ruger to get the extractor replaced. Magazine fitment is sloppy too. I had to settle for a P365 (great gun) but being someone who deep carries to work, this new Bodyguard looks enticing, being the smaller gun with a lotta firepower.
Is something wrong with your P238? That's one of if not the best pocket guns out? Is it just a capacity issue? I have 4 P238s...two of which are P238HDs. ..all stellar
Without watching sootch’s video, I would guess S&W measured the weight without a mag. Julie Golob weighed it at 15.4 oz with 11rds of 99gr Federal HST. Not bad at all.
Now if ammo manufacturers can come up with a hollow point load designed to expand from a short 380 barrel, we'd be in business!!! Speer makes a Gold Dot short barrel load for a 9MM. Maybe they can make one for a 380.
The only thing I wish S&W had done differently with this gun is make the extractor removal easier. I don't like having to hammer out roll pins when I want to clean behind the extractor every 1000 rounds. I know most people don't shoot that many rounds in guns like this, but I do because I handload my own ammo and I like doing a thorough cleaning after every 1000 approximate rounds fired. Glock makes it very easy to do a detailed strip removing every single part. I just wish other companies would take that into consideration a little more when designing a gun.
I want to buy one as my pocket carry with gym shorts, but I'm worried it won't fit as nicely as my Ruger LCP Max. I'll have to stop by a gun store to check it out.
Wow, Just saw this . Its improved the way I wanted the lcp max to do..slightly longer slide / sight radius and better angled grip & palm swell.. Scaled down styled shield 9mm so it looks great too..Time to upgrade .Great job! How about one in makarov..lol

All the videos on this gun completely fail to mention the most significant feature compared to the LCP MAX: The Bodyguard does NOT have the supremely annoying plastic cap pistol TWANG of the LCP MAX. Every time I shoot the LCP, I expect to see a red plastic bullet arch across the room in slow motion.
