Andrew Jackson Jihad is a band that can make me feel better about myself regardless of how desolate and shitty I feel about life. I've spent months of pure searching for other music that can make me feel the same and things like Crywank have come close but... I think the thing about Crywank is that it gives me an emotional response because of how much I relate to the sadness in the music but AJJ makes me feel because I not only relate to it but I also look to it to improve. While it offers lots of depression and anger that Sean feels it also offers the feeling that I can make it better, I can improve. And I'm not sure any other band can do that.
what I try to do is when I'm happy I listen to a certain album that I like anyways (my best one is GI by the germs) over and over again, then when you are sad listen to the album and your mood improves immediately
Ali Majeed I'm not saying all their work is extremely relatable but the fact that not 100% of their songs means something on a deep emotional level doesn't discredit the songs that do. Works like "Big Bird" "Linda Ronstadt" and "Lady Liberty" are all immensely capable of transferring emotion and meaning.
+LostPr0phet95 ...c'mon, this game could go on forever... seems like you need to listen to 330,003 Cross dresser from beyond the Rig Veda by Sun City Girls. it has the complete mind blowing universe expanding properties of LSD without the hallucinations. also, it ruined any other type of music for me... everything else is bland now.

i've noticed that they reuse some chord progression throughout their songs. not hating or anything, just an observation. ALSO i grew up most of what i remember outside of the U.S. so i actually had cap guns that looked like revolvers, and real candy cigarettes. i fucking loved them all.

it finally dawned on me who they basically sound like. besides NMH. GUN CLUB... and kiddos, if you're not familiar with gun club, head on over to the album Fire of Love... pronto.
I think you're right, but I think the premise was more intended to be "look at the cute musical tone combined with amusingly dark lyrics", I doubt the intention was to genuinely trivialize murder of women (also, "femicide" and "banalizing" are two very cool words, thank you for convincing me to google them - very useful words to drop in the future!)
It seems to satire both sides of the issue, but I just think it is funny to have a song that is saying smoking is cool and that the grandpa died from smoking but was still cool!
bitterherbs94 it's def not satire on both sides of the issue if you've actually listened to the rest of their music you'd know this entire album is a joke about playing offensive music for shock value. They're making fun of a lot of other folk punk artists for being dumbasses here.

Yeah, for a band that is all about dealing with trauma they sure have been complicit with the people trying to traumatize an entire generation of children
I hate Sean for distancing himself from this album and changing lyrics and even the name of the band. So weak. This album isn’t even on Spotify. Why can’t we just have art for the sake of art anymore

He is high on music- you silly goose... don't be so harsh
No you won't. But hey thanks for the songs.
this was a very prothetic comment, you were right.
Why would you empower the mentality, Damien... I promise it's a long confusing road when you stop for all of these types of people.
you fucked up the description..
it's not the time the song starts, it's how long each song is (:
Rebecca Beverly great observation Cpt.Obvious............jk i didnt know that
sounds like isaac brock from modest mouse, but tbh i like AJJ's songs better

Maybe i dont get it but i think "Lady Killer" is a little bit femicide-banalizing.
