      If he was as sharp at the pre-judging as he was at the night show. 100% agree. Should have been at least 3rd even at the prejudging IMO. Phil wasn't as polished either day for 3rd IMO. Brandon's upper body ascetics carried him to 2nd not his noticeably softer conditioning and lack of legs.

In the top 4, everyone except him had killer legs, so he stood out more. Dexter Jackson, Dorian Yates and Kevin Levrone did not have the best legs out there either. • @monsoon1174
    @monsoon1174 3 года назад +8

    Fun video as always, and I'll share my own analysis.
    Front Double Bi - Something worth noting, Rammy's biceps look twice as large as Brandon's right bicep, which is much smaller than his left. To me, that assymetry is further compounded by Brandon's triceps. His right tricep is notably larger than his left as well, creating a wonkyness to his pose. Rammy's bigger with better legs as well, so to me, this is a dominant victory for the Egyptian Phenom. Also, just because a competitor is going to get smoked from there on out, that doesn't mean they should get poses they don't deserve man. Hadi is definitely a better comparison.
    Front Lat Spread - I think you're correct here.
    Side Chest - Hadi looked better at the finals in this pose while Phil looked washed out. Muscle for muscle, Brandon outsizes Phil considerably, and without Phil's trademark separation, he loses imo. I put Phil in last with Hadi in third because his Obliques looked insane in that shot, and his conditioning was the best. He does get outmuscled by the behemoths in the middle.
    Back Double - I give this to Hadi in this comparison. He's dense everywhere, and he's dailed in through the lower body. Phil's second, with Rammy third and Brandon last. Brandon's arm's don't overpower everyone's from this angle, and without that, his legs completely throw his pose off.
    Back Lat Spread - I agree. I think you're on the money.
    Side Tricep - Once again, you're right. Damn, Phil needed this win.
    Ab and Thigh - I agree.
    Most Muscular - I think you're underselling Hadi's hands clasped variation. Hadi's arms, while narrow when viewed from some angles, are very wide when facing forwards like this. At 16:23 you can see Hadi has a tremendous amount of detail across his entire body, with his abs just looking incredible. To me, they take up a lot of visual space here, and it's very impressive. Something else worth mentioning, Phil's right shoulder is about half the size of his left during the crab.
    Either way, I think Hadi was a solid challenge for Ramy at the finals, and though the egyptian was simply too large and had better strengths than Hadi. EG, normally Rammy's calves are worthy of getting dinged. They are larger than Hadi's, and Hadi's quads, normally an overwhelmingly strong bodypart, are eclipsed entirely by Ramys.
    Great video man, and keep up the great work.

    • @Tomn8er
      @Tomn8er  3 года назад +2

      Awesome arguments all around! Just to be clear, I wasn't commenting on Hadi's hands clasped; he's definitely deadly there. I was more unimpressed by his one hand on hip. Don't think he should bother with that in the future.

      @@bigcamel I don't think that had anything to do with it. Otherwise, why did Big Ramy win at all? Bodybuilding judging has been very controversial for decades even when it was a far more international sport. The Olympia was often held outside of the U.S.
      Any "political" motivations in judging had more to do with who was under contract with the mags and supplement companies.
      And bodybuilding fans have always been more concerned with great physiques than with nationality.

    If Ramy gets more feathering and detail in his quads, and more detail in his back he will be extremely difficult to beat. Was honestly expecting Phil to come in super peeled, it would have been a good battle if he came in 100%. Glad Ramy won tho, he deserved it.

    I agree with the placing, as Rami came in with the best conditioning and unmatched lower body size. But...I find myself favoring Hati in a majority of the poses. He has the best shape and taper to his muscle insertions that, while they don't compete with Rami's size, result in a more aesthetic look. His midsection looked fantastic and his shoulders pop out more than any of the others.

      Excuses. Akim was very dark as well but we could totally see the conditioning he brought in the same background. Guys like Terrence, George had totally black background and yet showed all the details. Admit it, Curry wasn't conditioned enough and gradually faded while doing call outs. Hadi was much sharper and reserved to place ahead.

    • @nero9506
      @nero9506 3 года назад +3

      @@christmg4682 Hadi was indeed better, but that doesn't change the fact that the background was totally unnecessary and washed out Curry's much darker skin (come on, Hadi is dark yes but Brandon is literally black). Also, the lighting was simply disappointing in general, and didn't do justice to any of the competitors. Should have sticked with the 212 lighting and background.

Honestly, i dont think i recall ever seeing 4 back doubles, rear lat spreads, or front lat spreads for that matter, ever looking so good in any top 4 olympia in the past. I still prefer Phil over Brandon for many reasons. Brandon's legs were the weakest and practically non-existent as he stood there next to the other three competitors. His lats from the front look as though they attach too high, and because of the thin legs it makes his mid-section appear to be too big. From the back his legs were still the smallest, and his lower back development did not beat Phil's lower back.
    We talk about how Phil should be penalised because of his mid-section, but shouldn't Brandon also be penalised for missing half a body?
    Ramy's mid-section is bigger than Brandon's, but because of the bigger legs there is a better transition from the upper body to the lower body.
