- Welcome to Tassie and the beautiful Tasman National Park!
The Three Capes walking track is apparently 48km and is typically walked from Port Arthur to Fortescue Bay over 4 days. There are fantastic facilities on this walk with modern huts and incredibly well maintained trail and lookout points. The official trail is described as being the three capes track experience not simply a walk and I believe it really would be just that - a wonderful experience and highly accessible and achievable!
In this video I invite you to join me on the ‘Free Capes’ track alternate and explore the area in a different and more budget friendly way making the track possible even if you’ve missed out on a pass but where hoping to still get out on trail.
** Please note if you are walking the ‘free capes’ you will need your own transport and a Tasmania National Parks Pass. I’d highly encourage anyone thinking of walking the Three Capes to go for it and have no doubt the cost of the track passes go back into funding the incredible huts and maintenance of this experience. I decided to walk quite last minute and simply wasn’t able to get a track pass at the time but wanted to make the most of exploring the area (:

Wow thank you! ❤
Great hike and sights, but the permits are a little steep. $600 wow. But maybe it's worth it. Safe travels. 🤠
Thank you sooo much for this video. I am planning on pretty much replicating your journey :) I was just wondering, did you purchase a parks pass? Thank you!

Any plans for anymore car camping in the future? You've clocked up a few k's over the last few video's what walking shoes are you using any issues with discomfort or blisters.
What do you use as a pillow? My cheap one has a hole in it and need to replace to something much better

6 hundred dollars to explore the country we are born in.
DISCUSSING.
Who really receives the 6 hundred dollars? Government or the originals?
its to cover the cost of maintaining the huts, the trails and the national park. plus there is a boat ride and return bus.
