I just learned today that since UCLA is a "state supported school ( like Cal ) they DO NOT HAVE UNLIMITED FUNDS and are limited by their state legislature concerning budgets for coaching pay and recruiting costs. Just a thought

UCLA is a hard place to coach. It’s a basketball school. Nobody shows up to the games and their boosters were making life hard on Kelly. It really just sucks that the rich are getting richer. Ohio state already soaked up a lot of Alabama portal and commit flips now they are getting a better OC that could bring his best players. I am one of the biggest Ohio state haters and love seeing them lose. If they lose one game next year it’s sad but it’s sad to watch them over an off season become the best team in the nation next year.
It would burn even more if Ohio state got better and then the move also makes us lose out our DC. I would be happy for Tony but man I would dislike Ohio State more than I already do.
I don't see many players leaving till the portal opens on April 15. Most rosters are filled at this point till they lose players in the portal. That may give players a chance to evaluate other situations other than following Kelly.
@@HeyThatWeirdGuy All I’m saying is the surprises that come through the draft and spring practice can be filled because the best players on UCLA’s team will be able to fit the offense right away. It doesn’t seem fair.

Also I just want to say that Dante is a higher rated QBthan the 5 star that just left Ohio state Kyle McCord.

And if UCLA didn't want to give Chip the nine million to walk away do you think that buying out Tony's contract AND giving him a big salary might be too big and ask for them too?

I see UCLA going with an interim HC this season. This way they can take their time to wine & dine who they really want to run their program & sign them to a big $ multi-year contract. Tony White fits that timeline $ will be a great HC. ( hint, hint Nebraska so be expecting it & be ready for it)

NIL and the Transfer Portal have changed college football. Not sure it’s for the better but it’s what we have. Some HC’s have figured it out, others not so much. Chip Kelly might be one who doesn’t like the new landscape as HC. Either way we should see an improvement in the offense at OSU. UCLA has to figure out their football program on their own. Hope coach White stays at Nebraska for the 2024 season.

If that scenario played out multiple players would leave immediately. Yes they would have to finish the semester but a large number would be gone !!!! That’s a doomsday situation.

I’m just sharing why White would be interested and why he deserves it, I’m not an advocate for him taking it. But I will 100% acknowledge when a Nebraska coach fits perfectly and would be a home run for a job they earned. Hope Rhule convinces him that it’s the wrong job or they just don’t offer him

You're a young man, and you didn't live in a time when loyalty meant something from the heart. Just when we're getting all the pieces together to possibly become what we have been in the past, the chemistry gets broken up (again). Do you think that Tom Osbourne would believe in all this selfishness that goes on today ? How do you think he built such a fiery legacy to begin with ? Loyalty. Something greater than oneself. It's called a TEAM for a reason, and that goes for the entire chemistry of the team itself.

From a timing perspective White doesn't make sense. Why would White take all that time recruiting Wilhite for Nebraska if he's just going to head to UCLA? Imo UCLA is now a bottom tier big ten job still strange saying that. Rhule told White don't go anywhere with no resources... Aka UCLA.

The administration at UCLA is not going to hire a coordinator as a head coach, they'll want a proven HC because of all the scrutiny they're under for what's happened with coach Kelly. They can't afford to hire someone who's unproven as the head man, they will already lose some players to the portal, but if they get a higher profile HC it might lessen the disaster? I guess we'll 👀?

I think my swing for the fences HC picks would be either Paul Chryst or Tom Allen. More likely scenario Scott Frost or Herm Edwards. Scrape the barrel pick Pat Fitzgerald or Mel Tucker.

We wouldn’t have gotten a player considering UCLA to come to Nebraska if Tony White was leaving. That would mean that Rhule and his approach was not credible, especially with White recruiting Wilhite. Think about it!

2012-2015 when they had Hundley they were a T25 team, 2005 they had a 10 win season and during 80’s + late 90’s, they were winning.

Tony White, while HC material, is not a good fit at UCLA. No opportunity for making it successful. UCLA was the worst school losing money of any Public school in the pac12. It's got no NIL and lost 8 figures the last 5 years. If there is any poverty team, it's UCLA. I also think he is smart. It's too late for recruiting. Now 80% of the roster bolts. It's not going to be successful for any bit the most desperate coach. UCLA is broke. They need a bargain basement coach. Tom Herman..😂😂😂

The next HC at UCLA will be a bridge hire while the AD gets the schools finances in order. $36m in debt…can’t afford to pay a HC (or NIL). Once the B1G money comes in, then it could be different. That’s if UCLA finally makes a modern commitment to its football team. Amazing academic school that excels in almost every other sport though.

The UCLA administration is to blame for all of this. I am not gonna knock on Chip for this. He needed so much more from the university. Lack of promotion and excitement to get fans in the stadium resulted in a loss at every lvl of the program. You cant recruit, you cant make money until someone there decides to lead the charge and make stuff happen. Kelley was not the problem, and yes he is probably looking forward to just coaching the game now, cant blame him.

Are you wanting Nebraska to take a step back from last year. Our Defense is what kept us competitive. What happened to the Coaching staff of old? No one jumped around. There was loyalty and cohesiveness in the structure of the Huskers. The school has plenty of money to keep him. Open the purse...

If I was nebraska that's the one opening I'd be worried about. I do think Tony White should stay at least another year. 1 year at a team is not a lot of time. But this seems like the right opportunity if White wants to be a HC.
In coaching when the right job opens up you have to jump on it. If not it, might be 3 years before ucla is looking for a coach again.
My prediction is Tony White leaves nebraska. If that happens who is nebraska DC? Does Cooper get bumped up to DC or do they hire someone else? Either way it would probably be a big hit to nebraska and the blackshirts.
