To everyone!
We lift sandbags because tossing a sandbag is like tossing a person
Haha yes 😁
@@thestonecircle I showed my teen sons why I lifts sandbag and stones by throwing them on my shoulder and run around with them 😆. Know they do it to
@@dannynmelissa57 haha heck yeah, I can only imagine how much some sandbag lifting has put them ahead!
Wife is not expect this one
@@raos2030 nope. Suplex onto the bed 😆
What do you guys think, still feeling excited about sandbags?! I realize I've probably said some of the same things many times at this point, but I just find this stuff so fun.
What would you like to see in the future, more sandbag stuff? Calisthenics? Bodybuilding? Let me know!
Seeing how far you could advance a 5rm gobletsquat would be pretty epic.
@StraitjacketFitness that does sound pretty epic haha, I'd have to think about how to load that once things got heavy, maybe some plates on a loading pin
Do you mace train?
@@Cole205 I haven't but I'm very interested! Need to get my hands on one
Not enough videos on these types of sandbags. I know there is a bunch on the sandbags with handles.
Keep these videos going with the strongman sandbags
There is too much on barbell, kb, mace, calisthenics, bodybuilding, powerlifting, power building, etc.
You and alshrue are the two biggest names that promote the sandbag, but I know alshrue promotes other types of training styles.
You got something good going on here. Give it time, and the channel will keep growing.
I have got my first sandbag im excited
That's so awesome good luck!!
id add forwards and backwards sandbag dragging would be good. great leg volume and cardio. i went to failure on forward drags and it felt like my teeth were full of bees. that movement where you row a sandbag towards you with a rope are also great imo
Those are great additions thank you!
Great video as usual Cody! Ive said it before and I'll say it again, you are THE voice for sandbag training, there's no one else on RUclips putting this effort into explaining proper awkward object training, it's appreciated!
Thank you I seriously appreciate it so much! I'll do my best to keep putting out cool vids on this stuff!
Sandbag, KB and steelmace combined with animal crawling is pretty much all i do. And i love it. EMOM over the shoulder is one of my favorites at the moment. Never tried the sandbag press. Looks pretty cool. Will give it a go and work on it. 👍🏻
That sounds perfect!!
I used to have a sandbag (2 bags of gravel duct taped together (about 100 ppounds)) where i used to live. I had only ever watched 1 youtube video on it and i just wanted something to do at home that wasnt bands. It always felt great, it was rediculously hard and I loved that. I managed to overhead press it at one point. I remember doing carries and floor to shoulder all the time wondering if i was even doing anything worthwhile. I didnt have the confidence to decide it was good for me. I just liked doing something that was hard.
That's awesome! I like that about sandbags too, sometimes it's just fun doing something difficult
As an old gym rat since 13, I’m just rollin’ sandbags, mace/club, and straight bodyweight play…never felt better
Barbells gave me so many bad habits that didn’t translate to life
Hard to beat that combo!
@@thestonecirclecheers man, your channel is a solid fount of inspiration. Crush on 🤙
@braedenmoses thank you good luck with your training!! 😎🤘🤘
Nice! Being new to sandbag training I was quite suprised how much my upper back and biceps get sore from these movements. Seeing these guys move 350 lbs, woah
I felt the same way, upper back and biceps get fried! Finally got me to take arm training seriously haha. Right? These guys are on another level 😮
very well done video!! sandbags/stones work very well for their intended purposes, but do not and can not replace barbells! However, working sandbags in along with your barbell training can really help you create a more diverse strength base! appreciate the inclusion!
Hey thank you! Glad to have you in the vid, that shoulder is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen!!
Great video, I don't have experience with sand bags but I have experience with fire n Stone training.
Thank you! Stone lifting is the best, sandbags have been an awesome assistance exercise for stones so far!
@@thestonecircle yeah I need to get me sum sand bags
Awesome video! Thank you very much for including me! 😊
Thank you! And thanks for being a part of it 🙂
Nice man! Your videos are great and you explain everything well. Keep them coming 👊
Thank you!!
Great video! I've been trying to get the hang of pressing my 135lb bag and managed a few reps, and a few sandbags to the face!
Thank you! Haha that sounds about right 😁 very impressive though a 135 sandbag overhead is no joke!
Excellent video man, super comprehensive and good demonstration of all the fundamentals. You’re strong as an ox. I’ve found that when I’m in the position at 3:30, my quads AND hams and glutes are on fire 🔥 trying to incorporate more floor pressing, s-grip lifts (hits the obliques a lot) and high pulls to hit the upper back and traps to fill in the gaps.
Hey thank you I'm glad you liked it!! I think you're right in with those exercises too, from what I've seen at least. I was doing a lot of snatch grip high pulls when I was getting into sandbags and I really think they helped a lot with power off the lap, and built some nice muscle too!
Thank you for the great video and sharing my lifts. I appreciate it a bunch brother and let’s build this thing!
Thanks for letting me use your lifts! Glad to have someone else chasing the 300 to shoulder, Stones of Joshua is on his way too, we got this!
Thank you for making these videos, im new to sandbags and made one with two 50lb play sand bags from home Depot and put it into a canvas type bag from an old wave master kicking bag, so im definitely looking forward to finding beginner workouts which this video definitely covers the different moves
Hey that's so great, perfect place to start! Good luck :)
Really cool video again, Cody. Thanks for the feature. 🎒🙏👌
Thank you! Always glad to show off your lifting as much as I can, thanks for letting me!
I find sandbag training highly interesting and very functional for real life applications, making these easier.
I do like many other training methods as well and like to combine them or switch between them, challenging the body in different ways.
Like calisthenics, gymnastic training, sprinting, animal walk, indian club, steelmace training, isometrics, running in general, especially in wild nature.
All of them, including sandbag training, are also fun and at the end, relaxing to me. Good times.
Such a great list of modalities! There's definitely something to be said for using a bit of everything
Really inspiring to see your journey! Started using a DIY 100lb sand bag today. I’m 43 with a history of low back stuff so a modified carry stating from putting the sandbag on a chair and picking up from there really helped! Awesome material man. Keep it up!
Hey thank you!! That's so awesome, I really hope it helps. Carries were where I started too and they made a huge difference in the strength of my spinal erectors pretty quick. Good luck!!
The other day I was thinking how many types of exercises you cound do with a sandbag or a stone. Well, you kind of answered me here. When I get a sandbad + more stone lifting I'm going to get better, I swear!
You're killin it with the stone lifting!!
So many reasons to train sandbags!!
Id also maybe add sandbag zercher lunges... those can be brutal!! Thank you for your content, inspires me to keep training sandbags!!
Definitely!! That's a great addition thank you! Thanks for being here, glad to know I'm on the right track with these vids!
Definately!!!
i personally do another exercices which is deadlift to put the sandbag on one shoulder and then push than sandbag up with one hand and the other stabilize the arm
works really well on the side delts
keep in mind i started sandbag only 3 month ago and so my sandbag is only 25 kilo for now i don't know if that's possible with the heavy ass one we saw in that video 😂
That sounds tough!! I've always felt my side delts a lot when shouldering things too
0:18 I see that Ultimate Warrior shirt. Nice!!!!!!!
Andy is the man!!
My friend!
Hope you're doing well!
Been sick for 1,5 week now.... can't wait to get back to lifting heavy stuff again😤
Ahhhh that's annoying, hope you're better soon!
Watch Greco-Roman wrestlers and you will see why sandbags are so great for training
Yes definitely!
This video was informative and also showed how insane people are. The folks featured in the video are crazy strong
Thank you! And I agree some of the things these guys are doing are just insane! I realize more and more how impressive shouldering a 350lb sandbag is as time goes by, even 20lbs added to the bag makes things so much more difficult, and they just keep going!
Love your vids, very informative and genuine! So just wondering, I'm 51yrs old and also love training with sandbags. Currently I shoulder my 200 Lbs bag 6 reps on left and 6 reps on right shoulder. It takes a while because I need some rest between lifts as well, its a brutal session for me. Is this a decent amount of reps?
Hey thanks so much! That's actually perfect imo! 5-15 single reps per shoulder seems to be the perfect spot, I usually land somewhere in the 5-10 singles per shoulder range myself
Its obviously unique as you say but i find that zercher deadlifts are a good replacement and complement to the loft from the ground
Yeah zerchers will get you most of the way there!
I also do sandbag squats from the bear carry position. Nothing kills my entire lower body quite like it.
That's a great one!
Day 1 sandbag...feel good
Heck yeah!!
Nice video! Have you ever tried broad jumps/triple broad jumps for explosive hip power?
Honestly haven't done too much jumping but I really like the idea of using it for building power 🙂
And thank you btw! I have done a lot of jumping stuff for cardio i just remembered, but I haven't used it too much as a power builder I mean, I can see how it works though!
Love from India ❤ any Methods for DIY sandbags tutorial.
I plan on making one!
@@thestonecircle appreciated 👍
What kind of sandbag material should I get ? Can you make a video. Thank you in advance.
Anything made out of canvas is best! I think filling it with sand is best too but rocks or anything else can work
Thank you for replying back
This is really inspiring! Do you have the IronMind Sandbag?
Hey thank you!! Yeah the ironmind bag was the first one I got. It's insanely durable! Currently have 250 in it, my goal for 2024 is to shoulder it with 300
@@thestonecircle I hear the comment about the durability of the bag a lot. I can't wait to start throwing mine around!
I'm just curious: Are sandbags' workouts good for weight loss.
About as good as any other type of heavy lifting I'd say. They do build a lot of muscle which can make it easier to drop fat though!
Where do you get those Santa sacks from?
Haha 😄 ironmind and cerberus are great places to get them!
☺
😎😎

Hi can I ask what mic do you use?
This is the one! Not quite on par with some more expensive things but it does great for a 40$ mic. I record/mix in audacity. Also have a cheap pop filter I use too
Razer Seiren Mini USB Condenser Microphone: a.co/d/ioNIQYA
Thankd
What about sandbag get up. Do you ever do those?
I've done those a few times with stones and it was really brutal! I'm not sure I'm strong enough to do a get up with the sandbags I have now, but I'd like to work up to it!
hi, i'm interested in training specifically towards improving my performance in the bedroom, and sandbag exercises seem like they would be more applicable compared to barbell/machine training. can you speak to this? if this is an inappropriate topic then no worries
Hey that's actually a great question. In terms of pure athleticism I think sandbags are much more effective than barbells or machines. The main thing I would say is to make sure you're getting stronger on a heavy squat, and a heavy hinge. Barbell squats and deadlifts, or sandbag stuff should both work well for that. I think at the base level they would both (sandbags or barbells) probably work in a similar way for that, but I can think of 2 ways sandbags might be better.
1. Sandbags seem to gas you out a lot quicker, and cardio is probably more important than pure strength at a certain point
2. Sandbags don't take it out of you in the same way barbells do. You can push to your limits and feel recovered in a day or 2 with sandbags once you adapt. Whereas with barbells it can cut a lot further into recovery and you might not be recovered for longer. Part of this is because you lift so much more weight with barbells. I think this would matter because it doesn't matter how much better you get, if you're always feeling drained from the Barbell training it won't matter anyway.
Just a few things I could think of, I hope that helps!
Ideal weight for sandbags ??
Hopefully this helps!

@@thestonecircle thanks it was helpful ..
@Sebastianqm401 awesome good luck with the sandbag stuff, it's a lot of fun!!
In the army aptitute test they made us carry a ~80lbs sandbag on our shoulders and walk 40m 3 times
No easy task!
How much weight should be good?
It depends on where you're at and if you lift weights already, but somewhere between 75-100lbs is usually a good starting place!
Film and post yourself attempting (and completing?) The Bring Sally Up challenge!! It just might break RUclips!!

P.S.
Maybe try it with bodyweight squats?
Haha I'm gonna have to look that one up
i dont have money to buy a heavy duty bag so i just use my girlfriend
That works too 😄
