The reason you get in a bathtub during a tornado is because the pipes go down into the ground and serve as an anchor. Houses destroyed by tornadoes usually still have the bathtub in place so it's safer (usually put a mattress over yourself in the tub to protect from debris).
Is this true? I don’t have any experience with tornados so I could be easily be wrong but every house I’ve lived in has the bathtub(s) on the second floor. Wouldn’t the basement or a lower level be safer? I’m just imagining a bathtub being suspended in the air by only pipes with a house missing around it (which in my mind is a very funny cartoonish image as I’m sitting in the tub with a shower cap on and a bar of soap looking very confused).
@@jrdwildcat6895 this was my thought. I have a townhouse, in a state that has constant tornado warnings and watches, and my bathroom is upstairs. To be fair, my townhouse is horrifically built and I'm DOA if a tornado gets within 10 miles of it. It's like the story of the big bad wolf, my apt is the home made of straw.
@ You definitely want to remain on the lowest level (basement if you have it, ground floor otherwise). In Oklahoma, most homes do not have basements due to the difficulty (cost) in excavating. If no basement and no ground floor bathroom, find the most interior room on the first floor - put the most walls you can between you and the exterior of the house. Closets are often good and you can pile clothes on top of yourself to protect from debris. I lived in Oklahoma for 2 years and tornado alley my whole life.
James just gives off this chill and positive energy. It'd be a shame if they never got him to appear as Scott Summers in the MCU wearing the iconic 90s Jim Lee suit.
Marsden's Cyclops was my favorite X-Men during my childhood, really hoping he revisits the role in a prominent way one day! Loved him in Westworld so I'll definitely check out this new show
I still remember director Bryan Singer saying James was one of the best actors and mimics he had ever seen or worked with! And my gosh is he aging well! I'm not sure I have seen an actor age so very well since Roger Moore! James should play Felix Leiter in the next round of James Bond films he would be excellent as the CIA counterpart to MI6's 007! 🔫😎🍸⭐
I was really hoping we were gonna see Cyclops showing up in the void. Make sure to bring James back with the comic accurate suit when we get to the Mutant Saga!
funny, the first time I remember seeying him was on The Nanny and even back then I thought he would go places, and I was right :) not many TV actors get to have a great and solid movie career .
Hugh Jackman is aging very well and can still play wolverine. He has aged though. James Marsden could also step right in to Cyclops and look the same as he did 20 something years ago.
It’s Cyclops, Donut 🍩 Lord! Was expecting to see cyclops in the original blue suit with the shoulder chest strap and the X-Men belt, when I first saw the X-Men movies, and enjoy watching his acting in Sonic the hedgehog movies, Tom !
Plus the ‘walls’ of the tub would keep debris off of you unless the tip came straight down so we don’t think about that…and yes in regards to a mattress on top.
I remember driving up from Southern Indiana to Indianapolis with my Dad and sister with a tornado to the west of us. Not horrible close but believe me - Dad kept his foot on the gas petal! He was more worried because we were there I believe but he was tense.
Remember so long ago putting my oldest son who is now 27 in the bathtub with me when there was a tornado watch or warning which ever one is the worst one and I got on top of him put a blanket over us and he said why are you attacking me and I said well, because if something happens, I’m gonna save you, and he said well who’s gonna save you!? That was so sweet and we were both fine by the way nothing happened.

FYI: Although tornadoes come up very quickly, their path is somewhat knowable - they almost always move from SW to NE. Since he saw them in his rearview mirror, at least those two were behind him & not coming his way at all. (Although, driving TOWARD OKC during tornado warnings is pretty scary.) Depending on where you are at when the tornado comes up, you could drive South to get South of its path. This is one of the main reasons why tornado chasers can get close to a tornado (staying to the South of it) & not be struck. But because of so many other factors, mainly because if the conditions are right for one tornado, they're right for numerous others to pop up, tornado chasing is very dangerous. Another pretty predictable thing is when tornadoes occur in OK - during the Spring mostly & beginning of Summer. And the most damaging tornadoes occur starting at 4pm at the earliest into sundown. The heat of the day starting to cool is clashing with the upper atmospheric cool of the storm. Depending on how hot the day was will determine whether the heat will linger into the night to form night tornadoes. Also, depending on the EF strength, you can get on the bottom floor inner room & not have to be in a tornado shelter to be safe. It's only the EF4s & EF5s that level structures to the ground. And OK's weather guys, the BEST in the country, are good at informing us whether tornado outbreaks could be strong or not. It's the flying debris that is the most dangerous in any strength tornado - hence an inner room with a mattress or something thick on top of you. YES! Tornadoes are FASCINATING to watch & learn about! David Payne with News 9 in OKC is best to watch to learn all about tornadoes & tune in when tornado weather comes up. I also enjoy Pecos Hank on YT.
I forgot to say that tornadoes love rivers & bodies of water & hate hills. They will follow the path of a river or move towards a body of water & will lose strength, drop their debris & skip back into the sky when they hit big hills. My town is in a valley of sorts with the highest hills to our SW, so we rarely see tornadoes, unless they're coming from the West. Even then, storms & tornadoes will either fizzle out or break off to the North & South of our town. I've literally been outside (no shelter to go to, so might as well be outside to watch it) & watched as a strong tornado approached from the SW & skipped back up into the sky as it hit the top of the hill - just a few yards away. The COOLEST & EERIEST thing was to walk up onto the hill the next day & see ALL THE DEBRIS the tornado dropped - tons of pink insulation, wood beams, broken pieces of ceramic counter, all things twisted in a spiral like soda cans & my favorite - a boat receipt with the owner's name & address from the town where the tornado started almost 100 miles to the SW!
missed opportunity that he didn’t highlight the countless times James plays the “nice other guy,” acting as the main character’s foil to further his relationship with the heroine.
good to see someone who supported a sexual abuser is still getting to go on talk shows and live on like he didnt defend someone who sexually abused drake bell
I think 95% of men just have no idea of a celebrities possibly dodgy past and just watch/consume things they are in and like the show/thing and don't care much to think about the actor, unless it's someone of very high stature like Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon etc. This guy.... I personally only know him from Westworld :)
I truly think he would’ve been a better choice to play Tommy in Landman than Billy Bob Thornton. Billy is great but I feel like he would’ve made more sense in my opinion
To Kimmel: How can you see a point but not see the point? The entire film was an homage to the Fox Marvel movies. So the montage at the end was Disneys goodbye to that series, of which the X-Men films were integral. It’s not hinting at future or past or blah blah blah. It’s a blatant send-off to 24 years of Fox Marvel films.
The reason you get in a bathtub during a tornado is because the pipes go down into the ground and serve as an anchor. Houses destroyed by tornadoes usually still have the bathtub in place so it's safer (usually put a mattress over yourself in the tub to protect from debris).
Exactly... plus, there is typically less glass (windows, mirrors) to shatter and cut you where the bathtub is.

Such an underrated legend James.

Sonic 3 was awesome & I’m glad James Marsden is getting his time in the sun. He is The Doughnut Lord after all
It’s time for James get his new suit blue/yellow, Cyclops MCU from Jim Lee vibes comics💙💛
One of my favorite actors. He is so talented. Plus, he is handsome, funny and kind. Love him.
He doesn't seem to age either. He's in his 50s.
Indeed ❤ always my favorite actor.
wow he's still looking so handsome. his eyes, his smile. perfection.
He looks like from ,60' movies
We just saw him as Jimmy Marsden on The Nanny 😊

The man doesnt age and still as swoony as ever! Looking forward to the new show hes in 🤗

We need Marsden in a live action X-Men ‘97 costume in Secret Wars.
He's such a sweetheart!!❤❤❤
I hope they bring him back as cyclops in the classic X-Men costume
Still one of the most underappreciated actors in Hollywood...
Should have mentioned Cyclops dying in X-Men: The Last Stand 😂
OR (in my head canon anyways) maybe Jean sent him to the Void and he is waiting to be rescued...
Yeah I was thinking the same
He was brought back in Days of future past and killed in offscreen Logan

Corny Collins mentioned 🔥🔥🔥

Hay cyclops. You really did do a good job.
James referencing X-men in his interviews will always be hilarious

This!
Hoping James Marsden comes back to MCU. So much cyclops comic book storylines out there.
James was adorable in Enchanted. Such a handsome man 😉
Loved 27 dresses. And he doesn't die 😍
Doesn't die AND gets the girl! Woot Woot!
