    Very nice collection! I'm the same way i like the classic ones. I'm 30 years old and got my first one from my father when i was 6 and still use it! My first generation Rescue. I also have a first gen fully serrated Endura, first gen fully serrated Delica, second gen fully serrated dragonfly, and currently got my fingers crossed bidding on a first gen ladybug. Next I'm going for the Endura 4 and Delica 4. Spyderco is all i will ever carry i love them and collecting them is very addictive!

    I have a much smaller collection...but I have a dragonfly with stainless scales--absolute BEAST for the size, that exact Sage 3 that you have--and that's my favorite knife out of my whole collection, and a delica...the beauty of the delica really comes from size and weight.

    I appreciate your apparent love of blue knives. I have the Ambitious, Persistence and Tenacious in the blue G10 also. In that theme I added the blue G10 Domino, you might want to check it out at Bento Box before they are gone. Its a really nice addition.

    4:03 I totally agree. My EDC is a racing green Delica 4 in ZDP-189 and I also carry in my keyring a racing green Manbug with the same steel although this last one doesn't see much work, of course. Using Gatco diamond rods I have not any problem sharpening that steel but I hardly need to do it because its wonderful edge retention.

    Nice collection! Haven't been able to 'love' too many Spyderco knives. They just kinda look too much the same. Nonetheless I've had a Dragonfly in the bottom of my pocket for several years. G10's with the liners. Wish it was in ZDP-189 so I'm looking to get a used one of them to swap blades with. Also just got a Gayle Bradley 1 on eBay recently (not in hand yet).
    They make a lot of great knives for the price but too many of them lack 'personality' in my opinion.
    Thanks for posting! Always enjoyable.

    Nice collection! Handsomely blue, too. I was wary of S110V while shopping for a Manix 2, as I view this model as a "harder use", or a best lightweight backpacking/camping option within my own Spyderco collection; and I hesitated to risk chipping on such a difficult or time consuming to repair or re-sharpen blade alloy ("they" say) as S110V. Some have also complained mildly about S90V and S110V losing the keenest edge fairly quickly (?), for a very long lasting "working edge" thereafter.
    For the Manix 2, I also felt I wanted to be able to reliably restore biting sharpness quicky, as wished, even in the field while packing light. Hence, I simply bought the standard BD-1 version as the available compromise. If I had had the option, I'd have preferred N690co, or maybe S35VN, optimized for more toughness and easier re-sharpening (over S30V) -- leaving aside several interesting, hypothetical high carbon, non-stainless options. But especially, the idea of an LC200 Manix 2 'Salt' appeals to cover the most bases for me well in a practical form... in principle, and hypothetically. My best guesses, then, at this point in time...
    √ I'd really like to get your take on N690co vs. Spyderco's (or others') VG-10, likota123. My sense is that the N690co would offer somewhat enhanced corrosion resistance -- usefully so -- and be a bit more chipping resistant, being more likely to roll an edge under enough stress (recoverable by stropping), rather than taking some show stopping damage quite as easily, under those same conditions. .....? Again, seeing the hearsay and guessing. Thanks!
    BTW, I still have the most fondness for my very handsomely green ZDP-189 Stretch and the K390 Urban among my Spydercos, I think (with maybe the original Chaparral 1 next, for a different sort of application). Regarding the Spydiehole flick thing, I find that the former has the best balance of characteristics here to facilitate my successfully (and fairly reliably) flickin' from either side. I've surprised myself, between the handicaps of aging and a shortfall in fast twitch muscles generally. Not surprisingly, perhaps, the Stretch is also smoothest and has the best geometry for a fast and graceful 'walk open' with the thumb, I find. That's my experience, anyway.
    The Slip-it joint Urban similarly just handles great -- a cut above -- for one handed operation, opening *and* closing. A very fast to deploy and re-pocket knife. A back lock would just compromise this one to no real advantage. Note that mine is the sprint run version Urban, and both its back lock feel, but especially, the 90° stop detent is different and improved over the standard N690co reissue... a key factor in that evaluation. I feel lucky to have snatched one in time. Cheers.

    Now you need the endura4,and the resilience..very nice collection I have about the same as you but I skipped the slip joints and started at the delica witch is about as small as I like and went for the bigger blades but I'm definitely a Spyderco fan..nice video

    I sold most of my Spydercos beside of the Roadie and a Squeak, modified by a friend of mine. I like the Chaparral most. I used to own it for quite a while. It's a pity we are not allowed to carry it it public... :-/

    Are you planning on getting the new PM 3 ? I hear a lot of PM 2 fans are liking the new version even more! I'd be interested to hear your take on it. Nice collection sir, I didn't know that about Spyderco's VG-10 I'll have to look out for that sense I'm not the best knife sharpener and I dont have any fancy sharpeners like a WorkSharp or Wicked Edge. Good vid!

    • @likota123
      @likota123  7 лет назад +2

      Maybe I am a bit biased because I like the PM2 so much. To be honest I was a bit disappointed when I first saw the Para3. I wish that they just shortened the handles of the PM2 and left the blade alone. Unfortunately they also shortened the blade to 3". I get the idea behind it (legal restrictions in many places) but in this size category there are already so many good offerings (Sage series, Native 5 etc).

    • @survivalofthefittest409
      @survivalofthefittest409 7 лет назад

      I definitely see your point with there being better options for the size class the pm3 is. And yes I too have often thought about the handle size on the pm2 being a little too big. I think one reason they might have made it that big is cause they knew it would be a really popular knife and wanted all hand sizes to be able to fit it. Maybe not. Im lucky in the state I live in the just lifted pretty much all restrictions on any and all knives you want to carry in public, folder & fixed. So auto's are fine now and I can walk around town with even something like an ESEE 6 on my belt legally. It must really suck where you live to have all the amazing knives you do, but not be able to carry most of them unless you are out in the wilderness.
