Ok so I'll actually leave a helpful comment and I do hope you see it 1. Save your textures Why you lost some progress "randomly" is because you started texturing something else so blender just forgot what you did beforehand 2. There are many ways to start modeling or sculpting but here's 2 techniques I know that might be nice Start with a cube, add a subdivision modifier and DON'T apply it unless you HAVE to You can control a mesh so much easier when it has less vertices to worry about Or you could use the skin modifier, it kinda gives similar results to the cube thing but it's different how you manipulate the mesh 3. Make your textures bigger Like 2 or 3 times bigger so it's not blurry 4. Masking in the shader editor Instead of coloring with colors, color in black and white and maybe grey depending on what you're doing In the shader editor plug the image texture into the colorramp, the color of the colorramp into the factor of a mix and if you want you can plug that into the principled BSDF if you're using that Now you can change color A and color B to be whatever you want If you use that you're probably gonna end up with a lot of mix nodes You're basically using them as layers
i know nothing about blender but maybe you can save the project right after you finish a texture as a backup and then copy and paste the new model into the backup
