Real nice video For me the most important thing about learning Robert Johnson songs is---- to sing and play them at the same time. That's what it's all about. It's real important to follow his timing and rhythm and those beautiful counterpoint licks and embellishments. But I don't think you have to get hung up on learning the guitar and the vocals exactly like the way Robert played it, but rather to put something of yourself into it as well. This goes for his tunings as well, in my humble opinion.

Hey Joe, great lesson thanks nice and straightforward. One Question, I've watched over and over. After the high e in the riff coming out of A is the next note C# - 4th fret A string?

I know nothing about finger picking. But what have heard was to put your little finger as base and then the ring finger for the E string then middle for B and index for G. But that doesn’t look like what you’re doing. Can you please explain?
Haven't started learning this yet but can you play with a pick? I much prefer playing with one, and would love to play this kind of blues piece with a pick
Hey Tom, realistically if you are looking to play authentic blues you need to start using your fingers. Having said that I have done versions of some blues classics using a plectrum over at my patreon page, I also have some lessons on how to begin fingerpicking just in case you are interested here is a link. www.patreon.com/joesguitarlessons

Hi Luke thanks for taking the time to comment really do appreciate that I’m sorry that you found the lesson a little frustrating. I felt everything is pretty much there. Did you know that?
my first Robert Jonhson song learned. Thanks
what an awesome impact Robert Johnson had on musicians even though he was around for such a short period.
Very true

its a coincidence is it? what does it tell us?
@@rod9050
@@rod9050 I often wonder if Hendrix was just RJ reincarnated. Lot of similarities there.
Definitely, both sold their souls and were masters of music.

Is this song in the key of e? From what I hear In recording it starts on f sharp
a lot of robert johnson recordings are actually a little bit sped up, from around 5-10%
I have a question, Can I play same song with a Electroacoustic Guitar?? Or it gonna sound VERY different?
Sure you can play it but if it’s an electroacoustic why not play it on plugged it would sound more like this

Wait I don’t understand how to do the intro for this song
Isn't Chicago in the state of Illinois? ... his lyrics are saying back to California..sweet home Chicago
Guess it either was a mistake or a joke.

Just learn it then you can play it where you like. When RJ played in standard tuning he was never in concert pitch
