Today I made an (over)load test of the dodgy power extension from the last video. Most power strips may cause a fire when overloaded, but some are risky even when loaded within their rating.

Its safe:
Self disolder function built in
XD
Anything can be a fuse if you drive enough current through it.
Krisztian5HUN
: yeah, it's the one and only point of safety it has :D no fuse, no current limiter, nothing...
yes, even a really heavy wrench could be a fuse :D you'll need hundreds of amperes but hey - it's a fuse :D
Over current protection 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Watching crappy chinese electronics burn is actually kind of satisfying
LVB1B i from china
Preston Lo china numba 6
Dodgy' and BLOODY HELL, it really is!
*EVEN MORE SALT*
haha, that was very funny ;D

Now Age Restricted thanks to Poo-Toobe.
My favourite too. It was so unexpected
Oh yes I remember!
The floor is shaking
Electroboom europe version ? 😀
Satriya Handha I haven't found asian version yet
XD
Alex Tarasov yes 😂
and guys do you know this channel? :D ruclips.net/channel/UCl9OJE9OpXui-gRsnWjSrlA
Satriya Handha seems that way
Everyone: "It's melting!"
DiodeGoneWild: "That's nice"
Yes I new my pateron support was worth it.
Thanks for supporting DGW.
No warning fire people 5.00 min
Smoky the bear power supply in truth. Considering that the amount of copper in that cable was probably under 20c as scrap metal, it is amazing it actually held up under 40A for so long. Normally that kind of cable will blow open nearly instantly at around 10A.
It stood up better than I expected.
:D Not realistic, you bypassed the first security step, the desoldering ac socket connector :) :D Nice job!
N3szt0r Yes, really cool "fuse" feature there! Kicks in around 200°C I should think, so perhaps a bit hot for touching, but hey it wroks fr me so...! 👌
Correct, though primitive, it was surely designed that way :P.
Even when it caught on fire, you cannot deny it had a romantic scenario, at least it didn't burn the house down... I hope.
The link doesn’t work so here it is again:

So that's how electrical fires start
Good and important video. You should send this to a European safety control organisation or someting. I buy lots of Chineze things, some or very good, others are dangerous.
please check remote controlled light switch with dimmer that y can buy on aliexpress. I want buy it but i'm a bit sceared :) thanks !
Thanks for saving our lives 😍 love from India
Anthony : Same here :D
photonicinduction V2.0
Low Voltage mod. :)
WARNING:
Risk of electric shock, death, fire, serious injury & burns.
Bloody hell, that's a lot of risks!
Thanks diodegonewild
*Lets log him out so he doesn't catch fire* IMAO Made my day :=D
What kind of power supply do you have that can generate 50 amps?????? Great video. Cute pup.
Plenty of older linear supplies can do that, and server blade supplies can do 12V at 100A each, with 2 in any blade server chassis, though they are not too adjustable voltage or current wise.
I use this:

A welder should be a good choice ;)
@@DiodeGoneWild, Maybe oneday u can make us a nice video of that power supply, I plan to build that circuit this year. I need a nice fat Supply for charging big car batteries and so on.
Not smoke, fire alarm activating safety mechanism. Not flame, emergency escape lighting system. Good thing you disabled the meltable over current fuse which you mistook for solder or you couldn’t have shown us these safety features.
I want one of these in my grandkids bedroom. For sure. Thanks for the demo of this super safe device.
This is my personal favorite video of DiodeGoneWild!😍😍

How my laptop power brick feels after 2 hours of it charging
Somehow i can smell the smoke wtf
Citroen Games me too lol
Citroen Games maybe u farted
Robin Tips&Tricks i do have a extention cable and the cable was some how molten but never figured it out so thanks
Is your power strip next to you by any chance
Mind is powerfull thing 😈😈😈😈😈
I love your videos, you do a good job going through the theory and making the experiments fun.
I really hope you are doing these in a well ventilated area however. The carcinogens in burning plastic are very abundant, even touching it with bare hands after is a really bad idea. It won't kill you now, but it will long term.
It went very crispy in the end its kind of scary what can happen but good job with the demonstration!
"Crazy amount of smoke" is not enough for DiodeGoneWild lol like with the salt, he pushes it to the maximum limit
I admire your persistence.
Smoking smoking smoking
smoke chines electronics everyday
Sorry to disappoint you but most of houses breakers are designed to handle 15A continuously except for kitchen oven breaker and clothes driers. I don't think some will used extension cables to withdraw more than 15A in normal room in the house with a breaker destined to trigger at 15A load.
It is just my critical thinking of the subject, however that doesn't mean that you can use any kind of extension cable with thin core in it.
And finally some fireeeee that's amazinnnngggg...
You are a LEGEND!!!!!
Inductive resistance truly is a often overlooked safety hazard.
What I was waiting for!!
*S H O C K I N G* 😱😱😱
*SMOKIN SMOKING SM0K33NG!! 😂👌*
For this reason a caravan extension lead should be fully unwound when in use to stop it overheating ............... you are after all running the whole caravan on a single extension lead
8:00
Romantic fireplace with magic smoke.
Awesome demo, thanks!
Did you run this on DC or AC? I suppose in the latter case there would be a considerable PF effect as well? 😱
I love your channel
Dogs=fire hazard
Lil bit Said like he could burst into flames at any moment.. unrelated to the test :)
Fire is not good for dog, great sense of smell will be damaged by the hydrocholorous acid released by the burning PVC plastic. Dog removed for the dog's safety.
IncandescentWithRage yep it can
But Wouldn’t the circuit breaker trip
5:33
I think when the wire got desoldered(the solder holding wire to terminal melted) out of heat, it stopped everything.
100v is japan only while us is typically 115-125 normal but that is each line coming into the like we have L1 L2 and i think neutral while businesses have a 3 phase system A B C but i dont exactly know wiring for 3 phase
North America has 3*240V, but four to six taps. Three extreme taps create each 240V, and one to three middle taps create 2*120V from 240V.
There's also 208V if you connect extreme to middle taps.
toasty ..ahaha i was doing the dishes while talking the the ipad mini screen saying "oh my god" "that sucker is going to burn" ahahah.. my wife came to the kitchen saying what's up ?? my reaction DiodeGoneWild ..just went all wild on his cheap Chinese power extension..
btw funny the warning don't use beer as a fire extinguisher...even as a 40yr it nurd with 0.01 % of electrical experience..know that's not a good idea.. i mean i bought my first multi-meter last month hahah..ahh well we can't all be electrical geniuses like you and big Clive.. you should consider doing online classes.. true youtube.. love your accent..
greetings from The Netherlands..
im glad the dog didn't catch fire !!!
I have old, shitty, aluminium wiring in my apartment and I'm always worried about it, but your video gave me hope...
This made my day
EVEN MORE SALT!!!!!!!!!!
I'm dead
ruclips.net/video/SB62AfXLEHY/видео.htmlm5s ;D
And more!!!!!!!
I love it!
EEVEN MOORE SAAAALLTT
Nice, no clickbait
when its dead yet you revive it and kill it again. this is 'amayzeeeng'! lols. loved your content. please stay safe but not for the crappy devices =)
" It's melting, that's nice "
This was kind of a silly video. Every power extension that I own would go up in flames with 50 Amps and some with much less, especially if I was dumb enough to use it with the cable wrapped around it. But I liked it and gave it a thumbs up anyway just because I always get a chuckle listening to you singing the audio...
I love your crazy experiments :P
EDIT: btf: what happend with a cat? Is it ok?
3:15 😉👍
:)
Obviously dog-sitting for someone else, and decided to burn up the electronics in their house, instead of his own.
He shoots his videos either in the "cat location" or in the "dog location", now it's the dog location
Got fried in a previous experiment ?
Thank you. This is a scary video to show how these react.
Crazy amount of smoooooke😁 nice video
OK so my house has two types of currents 220v and 380v (because I'm European) and our 220v (which is for the house) has issues with the fuse box, as soon as you plug in a fridge or a computer to a outlet the fuse box turns every thing off, so we have to get it fixed, but like I said we have two currents and 2 fuse boxes completely separate from each other, (the 380v current is for our electric gate and wood furnace) the 380v has a working plug when the 220v turns off the 380v stays on because its separate, so my idea was to daisy chain power supplies from the basement (where the 380v fuse box and plug is) to upstairs to be able to charge our phones and dewalt batteries (the dewalt batteries we use for their torches) so my question is is it safe to daisychain powers extendors?
7:34 CRAZY AMOUNT OF SMOKE!!
This is an interesting and educational video.
That dog tho...
@8:16 that sums it all up 😂
genial dany sigue así
saludos amigo
*sees* kid : are you smoking
Him : thats nice
This was so awesome
You are seriously messing with mains 👍 Can I ask you what do you use for load to draw this amount of current?
Thanks, for sharing, that was great.
Great video ! What do you use as a load for that much power/current ??
It looks to me like he is using a big ass DC constant current power supply and maybe just a shorted plug on the extension outlet.
The only reason this would happen if there were tiny people living in the extension cable, and someone left the oven on.
Love these videos 😂 even more saaaalt/smoooke 😂
My confidence in Chinese extension cords has actually gone up after this, it really took quite a lot of current to get this thing to fail short. 8 amps at the intended voltage of 220V (China's voltage) is 1760 VA, which, assuming they meant 800VA at 220V, is more than double the rating.
Though it is better to use safer and more compliant extension cords, not cheap rubbish from China :).
EVEN MORE S....... SMOKE :D
When cords are on fire (him) WOW 🤩 ITS MELTING DATS NOICE
Can you make a video about your old clock
*A flame summons*
DGW: thats amazing
Always fully unroll an extenser cord when you use it at its full rating Amps !
Great video !!!
funny experiment. i like it
This is why you buy high quality extension cables with safety features
It said 800w thinking on the Max voltage rated! You did it just the opossite
SPEAKER WIRE ?!
wow.. WOW.. WOW!.
creative
Nice video
TL;DR
- Hot? Smo-oke? It bu-urns? No-oo? BUT WHY-YY-E?
Love it.
7:29 SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY!!
probably using a low voltage high amps power supply to simulate what would happen
The more I see videos from you, the less I trust in Chinese gadgets. Worst if they are to be plugged on the Mains...Not without a quick tear down first....
thanks for dooing that for us.
cheers
You are using welding inverter to get 50 amps without triping the breaker?
A teraz záhada, odkiaľ si bral 40A? Skrat previnutého sekundára MOT trafa a primár regulovaný autotrafom?
Very cool Engleeeeeeeeeeesh ! I like so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch!
such a nice video thanks a ton
the next generation of electricity safety feature ( cable melted )
I
Live in Russia and I shorted 220 volts to the apartment and the funy part is that it cuted of power to the whole city for 1 second
Urob nejaké videá kde visvetlíš ako fungujú teslove cievky SGTC ,VTTC ... A urob na tomto chanli nejaké videá o nich . Bude to veľmi zaujímavé. ☺️( Alebo kúp nejakú z Číny a urob na ne anboxing stoja cca 6 dolárov) A dobre video☺️
What was making that whirring noise?
also, Like the demonstration here.
7:31 EVEN MORE...
I dont know what is worse.. this cable or the 5V Hand warmer i build... It got to over 150C btw...
Great video
Hey, nice quality, will this be sold on ebay for parts or not working? Maybe it could be repaired ;-)
All extension boards should be completely unwound before use..
Don't think that would have made any difference in this case though. There was a company making extension leads that had a claim that you could run them at 8A when fully wound, as they had made a special cable that had an external plastic spiral spring that allowed air flow around to keep the sheath cool. Don't see them new any more, but they were good but rather expensive.
What happened with the charger circuit?
I removed it before the test :).
And what do you want to do with it?
throw it on you
Could you test a couple Sonoff wifi switches. I'm using six of them in my house. They work well but I'm curious how safe they actually are.
Nice test. I was secretly hoping to see the equipment that is capable of drawing 50A though. :)
Should be covered under warrantee you could send it back and get another
Please do video about your power supply and the load circuits on this video.
Huh. I wonder how many fires has this extender cable caused. But please, BE CAREFUL with the mains voltage.
