  • This video shows the plants that I purchased from the awesome, 118 year old Matk cactus nursery that I visited in Berlin, Germany - see my previous video of last week:
    • Visiting spectacular 1...
There were 2 fantastic cacti and 6 very cool other succulent plants that I could not resist buying, in order to add to my own collection in the greenhouse at home.
For everyone who is interested in seeing truly awesome, unsual, weird succulent plant flowers from the genus Ceropegia, my video about Ceropegia stapeliiformis:
    • FLOWERING SERPENT CERO...
And finally, the Arizona saguaro cactus video:
    • Visiting SAGUARO GIANT...
    Enjoy!

Thank you so much Lyn, really super that you liked the new plants from the Matk cactus nursery too! Yep, the two Ferocacti were indeed ones that I immediately fell in love with when I saw them, but I was equally happy with the other plants too. Totally agree, there will always be a free space somewhere for another new plant(s), hahaha! Hope you are having a wonderful week, sending you both, Lyn and Hans, very best cactus greetings across to the beautiful Emerald Isle! 🙋‍♂️👍🙌☺️🌵🌵🪴🌿🌺🌼🌸💚😎☀️

You really picked some wonderful plants! And I had a good laugh about the commentary of your wife on the Ceropegia 😂 Indeed, the stems theirselves seem not so spectacular but their flowers look in fact amazing.
The short-spined Ferocactus definitely is a beautiful specimen, I have a cv. brevispinus of E. grusonii which I think is as beautiful as the long-spined version.
I was also happy to find out that I guessed the Ferocactus purchase right 😄😉 I would probably have also purchased one of them because their spines are just amazing, both regarding their length (at least if we're not talking about the cv. brevispinus😅) but also how the spines glow reddish in sunshine.
Have a great sunny Saturday! :)

Thanks very much Jacob, great to hear that you enjoyed the video and also particularly liked the Ferocactus too! And well done indeed for correctly guessing Ferocactus as being among my purchases, haha, you know me and my collection very well by now! Yes indeed, well that Ceopegia, I sure hope it shows it's flowers relatively soon so I can convince my wife, haha! And I agree totally, the Echinocactus grusonii cv. brevispinus is a very cool and beautiful plant too! As always, many thanks for watching and for your awesome feedback and comments! Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and can enjoy the sunny cactus weather too, that we currently are having, happy growing of course!👍🙌😉🙏🌵🪴🌿🌵🌸🌼🌺💚😎☀️🙋‍♂️

Hello, thank you so much, very happy that you liked the new plants too! Yes I will definitely keep you all updated if / when it blooms ...and I am 100% with you, it's fascinating to grow these super unusual, weird & wonderful ones! Regarding the popular name, I haven't heard it being called that...it's a name used mainly for some extremely poisonous plants, e.g. from the Solanum family. But, haha, i think my wife will probably tell you it is in fact a perfectly fitting name for these dead sticks, lol!! Take care and happy growing! 👍🙏😉🙌☺️🌵🌵🪴🪴🌺🌼🌸💚😎☀️🙋‍♂️

    Hallo cactus Joe.
And another interesting video. When I am on holiday in Spain and parts of plants are broken off on the ground, I ask if I can take them with me.Most of the time it is not a problem. At the moment I have sown hardy opuntias. They've been growing for two months now. Then I have a few other cacti that were in bloom and I'm trying to grow them from seeds as well.was very annoyed this year in Mallorca when I saw a beautiful, large aloe vera plant on the side of the road. It had simply been thrown away. I tried to save what I could from the plant and gave it a new life. This plant was certainly 15 to 20 years old.Keep up the great videos.

Hallo Holger, super that you are enjoying the videos, thank you for always watching and also for all your interesting and awesome feedback! Enjoy your plants and happy growing of course! 🙌👍🙏😉🌵🪴🌿🌵🌺🌸🌼💚😎☀️🙋‍♂️

Thanks Daz, awesome that you liked the new additions too! Yeah, that Euphorbia remains a bit of an enigma, as the E. symmetrica pictures and descriptions that I have seen are all lacking these distinct sharp ribs, instead all have rounded ones, like the classical E. obesa. But thanks for that suggestion, my friend, I had not considered it before. Sending you and Edith very best regards, hope you are both doing very well ...and wishing you both happy growing of course! 🙌👍☺️🙏🌵🌵🪴🪴🌺🌼🌸💚😎☀️🙋‍♂️

Hi Joe! I had to go back and watch your Matk nursery tour video a third time because I was not “in” on the idea that you might be buying something there! I feel like I was robbed of the anticipation of wondering what you might have gotten! Now I know why after watching the other video a third time. Matk really did only look like a botanical garden and not a place where plants were for sale. Even after going into that part of the nursery where plants were for sale, the plants looked gigantic and they were still arranged like a garden setting. And you never stopped to pick up any plants while considering buying one. Now that I see your purchases, I am impressed! I have an aloe collection too and I have a lot of my own hybrids I made. After three years, I’m still deciding which ones to keep. I have fewer species aloe, but you might want to consider the mustache aloe in the future if you don’t already have one. Your aloe choices are very nice, but they grow more sideways than up! I love your new Ferocactus! I don’t know which one I like more! I’m jealous! I recently got a Ferocactus fordii that I am looking forward to getting bigger. I love the brown and gray spines that it has. I hope it gets really gnarly. I think I have six Ferocactus now. Oh, and I’m not sure how I feel about taking my wife cactus shopping. On our last outing, she was very supportive and seemed genuinely concerned that I got everything I wanted, but a lot of times I hear similar things like, “who would want to buy a bunch of dried up sticks?” or “ Don’t you already have a cactus just like that?” Thanks for sharing your trip and purchases. I love watching your collection grow and enjoy your enthusiasm for your plants. It rubs off on me! Take care of yourself and your plants!

Yeah, totally agree with you, Ferocacti are simply AWESOME! Has your Ferocactus fordii flowered yet? Perhaps you saw my recent Shorts video about my fordii and it's first ever bloom? Really interesting also to read about your Aloe collection! Thanks so much for watching and for all the interesting updates in your comments! Wishing you an awesome end of the week and weekend ahead! I want to thank you for your videos because of you I you made it a mission for me to find a monkey tail cactus it took me a couple of years but I finally found two at green touch nursery Bellflower California I spotted two of them in a video from cactus quest when he was visiting there. One was more golden color and one that was kinda brown with silver tips is there a name for that different color variation? Maybe you can take a look at them in the video and help me on this. You can see them in the background when they are talking to each other. When I saw them I drove over the next day to see if he would sale them to me. I payed 700.00 for the gold one and 600.00 U.S dollars for the two tone silver one. I never see them in the cactus competition at the cactus shows

Hi Joe. What is the name of the Parodia behind you with an orange flower? I have the same one but can’t find the accurate name for it.

👍🙌😉🙏🪴🌵🪴🌵🌸🌼🌺💚😎☀️🙋‍♂️

Hey Joe, when is the dormant period for Portulacaria Afra?

Hi! I have read that some people suggest the summer months for dormancy (depending on whether you are on the N' or S' hemisphere?)...but I keep mine dormant, so cool and relatively dry, throughout the winter months... together with my cacti... here on the N' hemisphere. 🙌🙏👍☺️🪴🌿🌵🌺🌼🌸💚☀️😎🙋‍♂️
