Wow! Murdoch with the utmost calm goes through so many subjects without being out of her depth or being ridiculous. A quality of goodness, egolessness and serenity.
I always feel sad when I see her speaking because I have such a strong regret that I wasn't a friend of hers! I think she was a very highly evolved human being
We are in the Age she mentioned. . ie. Majority of population barely know what a book is . And can hardly string a complex sentence together in their native tongue. An incomprehensible jabber has replaced normal conversation.!
Great interview...but why did she not mention her devoted husband? Ironically, Iris when commenting on the mind...did not know she was fated to lose her mind to Alzheimer's....and he was so devoted and patient with her then.
Thank you Iris for protesting in 1969 against Novus Ordo Innovation just introduced in that Fatal Year by Maelstrom Montini It has reached Crescendo proportion today and causing unending trauma to current priests who continue to Fight for Eternal Unchanging Tradition that Tuscan Tito Cassini in 1967 protested about in The Torn Tunic Together with other non Catholics like Agatha Christie and even surprisingly Yehudi Menuhin you practised by this action what you speak of here O/29 Courage to destroy what you think is no good and reject it May I add here as Traditional Catholic what God Perfectly Declares to be no good and to reject it

Thank you for sharing this interview. A most interesting and uncharacteristically talkative Murdoch.
2:23: Ah, those compact, orange-spined Penguins! The best paperbacks ever printed. Never will we see their like again!
Great interview.❤
Murdoch went under my radar for dar too long. I dont find her work profound, but I do find it intriguing.
She never meant her literature to be profound. It was her published work as a Philosopher that was profound.
She is wildly underrated and deserves a wider audience.
Surely irresistible to fellow and aspiring writers! 😉

The interview was about her work as a novelist, not about her huband or anyone else in her family...

@@-.-. Just a placeholder for a quote I wanted to remember.
Thank you Iris for protesting in 1969 against Novus Ordo Innovation just introduced in that Fatal Year by Maelstrom Montini
It has reached Crescendo proportion today and causing unending trauma to current priests who continue to Fight for
Eternal Unchanging Tradition that Tuscan Tito Cassini in 1967 protested about in The Torn Tunic
Together with other non Catholics like Agatha Christie and even surprisingly Yehudi Menuhin
you practised by this action what you speak of here O/29
Courage to destroy what you think is no good and reject it

Apparently Iris was a bit of a nympho ? Hard to believe .
Don't suppose she got many offers looking as she did ?
what are you talking about? She's a fox! I went as her for halloween last year
Creepy you. What a sexist term. Good sex is not what you imagine obviously.
You have no idea what you're talking about @2msvalkyrie529, and in addition your comment was crass and disrespectful.
