@@TheArtGearGuideI really do appreciate you and these reviews. So many just "love" everything because the companies send them free stuff. You know the difference between 'unboxing' and 'reviewing' and you are always honest - good or bad. I am sure others feel the same as me. You save us a lot of heartache (and money!) :D
Hullo Harry, I have almost stopped using graphite wood pencils! I did buy some of the Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black mat pencils but I was rather disappointed with the glare I still got with heavy layers. I know Faber Castell has some mat pencils but just not willing to try them out as I was disappointed so with the carbon black ones. If I want true black with minimal shine, I will just use charcoal. I know most people just do not like the mess. I do use a fixative with many charcoal drawings even graphite can benefit from a fixative too! I do enjoy your informative videos and just want to say thanks! Excellent portrait as well, I feel you do not give yourself credit for art executed so very well! Wonderful Job Harry!
Hey Harry! Ive seen the Kalor pastel (chalk) pencil set on amazon and i have waterd to tey them but now i think ill pass. Their pastel "macaron" colored pencils are exaxtly like the brutfuner macaronand i quite like them. I have so many graphite sets so im all set there. Your portrait is stunning! Awesome job!
Love your channel! Okay coming from just a dude that colors I have the kalour soft pastel set and they are not the same pencils as the 4 in this set, wildly different and even look a better quality. They are fun and id like to see you do a review on them. I have pitts and some other good pastel sets so i know the feel and pigmentation of good stuff. And tbh i think the kalour are fun. I use them for backgrounds and the such. Not trying to sell you on kalour but the 50 pc soft pastels are wildly different
Hi Lindsay I can't tell you how nice it is to see a comment from you. I only purchased the 50 set of Valour Pastels because to me, they looked very much like the Koh-I-Noor Pastel pencils and I wanted to see and review them. I haven't got round just yet to testing them because I don't want to upload two Kalour reviews back to back, but I have a good selection of pastel pencils to compare them to. Cretacolor, Koh-I-Noor Gioconda, Faber Castell, Derwent, Caran d'Ache, Conte, Carbothello and Bruynzeel Pastel Pencils. I have a funny feeling they are going to be very similar to the Koh-I-Noor, everything about them screams Koh-I-Noor to me. However I will defiantly let you know what I find. Again thank you so much for your comment about the art and for commenting on the channel in general it means so much to me.
Thank you so much for you generous comment and support I really appreciate it. I am definitely looking forward to testing and reviewing them and I am sure you are right with regards to their quality not being the same as the four pastel pencils in the sketching and drawing set. Again, thank you so much for your support, for watching the video and for commenting, just watching and leaving a comment on my videos means the world to me and I always do my best to make sure I reply to comments.
I never considered that the quality of graphite varies. The sanded surface demonstration really shows the difference in this product versus others. Good review. 🙂
Interesting. I thought all graphite and charcoal pencils were the same. I didn't know there was a difference between a student grade and artist, expert grade like other coloured pencils. I really like the kalour oily coloured pencils, they are very creamy and smooth.
(I pushed enter by mistake.) I received the zippered package of 50 pc sketching and drawing pencils from Castle Arts for Christmas. It has almost the same supplies as this Kalour package. I really like the case as it's a folding stand up case to make it easier to access the pencils. I figured that as I used up the charcoal and graphite I could get the replacement pencils from Faber Castel, Derwent, or Caran D'Ache. Could you do a review of the Castle Arts sketching and drawing set in the near future? Thank you in advance.
Superb drawing of Post Malone and it shows what can be done with mediocre products ,but only if you have your talent.A really good and informative video which will save money in these hard times, thanks Harry 😎
Thank you for the detailed review. It is helpful for many and we all appreciate your honesty and your thoughts on things. Have a great week!
Thank you so much Sheila, you are too kind, I sincerely appreciate your support and comment, thank you.
