  • Today's video is all about Chase Rice's new country music album "I Hate Cowboys and All Dogs Go To Hell," which, I must admit, completely surprised me. With songs like "Bench Seat" or "Key West to Colorado" or "Oklahoma," and features from the Read Southall Band and Boy Named Banjo, it's just surprising all the way round. And it sounds... country!

Honestly, this was the best album I’ve heard in a very long time. Every song is just good, there’s not a single one I don’t skip which is rare for me. I loved Chase Rice in his bro-country days (Look At My Truck is one of my all time favorite songs), but I’m super excited for this career shift from him

Die-Hard Chase Rice fans know he's always had some legit country songs that just weren't made mainstream. Songs like "Jack Daniels and Jesus", "Shades of Green", "Carolina Can", "Look at my Truck", and "You Ain't Livin' Yet" are really good songs with some depth and good writing. The fact that Chase solo wrote 3 songs on this album and co-wrote the rest tells you he's a good song-writer.

Not saying this is the case with Chase, but have to wonder how many more singers will be "finding their sound" now that FGL isn't doing stadiums and Zach Bryan is the hottest thing in Country Music. I'm old enough to remember the late 90s when almost every country singer was trying to have hits on Adult Contemporary stations. For example, look at the album cover for Lonestar's "Crazy Nights" from 97 and then their Christmas album in 2000. Chameleon Country Music has been around forever and looks like it isn't going anywhere.

If I'm not mistaken when you were talking about his friend committing suicide. His friend didn't actually commit suicide. I believe he had the gun to his head finger on the trigger and he looked down and saw his dog tilt his head and said to himself he couldn't go through with it. I believe that is what chase said in an interview. Please someone correct if I'm wrong

I know you've mentioned believability issues in past videos when talking about the pre-releases from this album, but I see no issue with that. The songs are good, so people will believe it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We need to stop pretending FGLs best songs aren't absolute bangers. Cruise is incredible, makes me want to drink beers with some bikini babes

It definitely is from the perspective of the dog. Chase has said this in an interview.

Biggest career pivot? I believe you are forgetting the time that AJ McLean "disrupted" country music.
