Be careful on the cliff trail! I biked here from Sturbridge, MA. Wonderful 130 mile trip. Newport is beautiful and the bridge to Jamestown is a civil engineering masterpiece! Stay safe Prof. Lewin 😀
My grandmother who was born in 1887 frequently used the adjective spry. Not heard much anymore but you sir are very spry! God bless you for sharing your joie de vivre.
Awesome video Professor. This is my hometown. I was born in Newport Hospital. I live about a 6 mile drive from the beginning of the walk (117 Memorial Blvd), and grew up living a lot closer. It was a favorite spot of ours as kids to go, and have fun. We would go flying by all the poor scared tourists on our bikes, and have a blast! Those signs are no joke either. Many a person has died in that area. Not just the Cliff Walk itself either. There’s all sorts of areas where people go fishing, swimming, surfing etc. And quite a few never made it back home that day unfortunately. It’s fairly easy to slip, or get swept into the water by a wave around those rocks. And getting back in shore isn’t necessarily as easy it seems it would be, especially if there’s an undertow, or something like that in the water. Usually caused by inclement weather of some sort. That being said. If you stay on the trail. There’s very little, if any risk at all. And I highly recommend that anyone who’s able to. Takes this walk. It’s actually a long walk if you do the whole thing. But if you’re too tired to go all the way back. There’s taxis, Uber’s, and even buses that will get you back to where you left your vehicle. And this is just the beginning, or the end, depending on how you look at it. Of The Ocean Drive. Which is a must see, if you’re ever in the area also. I think us about 10 miles, or so. And that’s just the main route. You can venture off into neighborhoods, like the one where Salve Regina University is in. And see all sorts of beautiful homes. Thank you for featuring my wonderful hometown Professor. God Bless.
Sir! We are very fortunate at this time that we can see you alive with our own eyes at this time. And being a devotee of Physics, I would like to say this today that you are the only person who teaches to live with physics not just read it. I am a boy who used to be very scared of physics earlier but as time passed, physics just started to become my life. To you, I count among those people who did not come here just to live a normal life, you have come to improve the lives of people with this knowledge and soft heart. Keep teaching us like this from your great ideas With this I pray for your long and happy life......Love from India 🇮🇳
Theres a mountain here called Long's Peak, a 'fourteener' with a trail that goes all the way to the summit and I thought "neat, I might do that". Turns out theres a section of the trail right near the top called the"keyhole" and past that it becomes somewhat dangerous (the author of the quotation below used the word 'frightening'). Here's a description "Beyond the Keyhole the trail becomes a bit more technical with "moderate" (frightening from my standpoint) exposure. The 1.3-mile Keyhole Route is considered to be a climb - a classic mountaineering route that should not be underestimated. It crosses enormous vertical rock faces, has narrow ledges, is exposed to falling rock, and requires scrambling on all fours in some places. Climbers can encounter snow and ice at any time of the year. The terrain requires route finding skills and the ability to assess and adjust to unexpected or changing weather conditions. As the Rocky Mountain National Park website warns, "a slip, trip or fall could be fatal" along this route". Needless to say that I've decided against it!
Beautiful! May I suggest a camera with automatic stabilization? Many cameras have that feature nowadays. They do a nice job of eliminating shakes and jitters.

Hi professor i hope u are doing well i got to say you are an inspiration for me i wish i could understand physics as much as u do im really having a hard time learning physics concepts and i love physics with all my heart and i kind of get frustrated when i can’t understand them , what would be the best way to understand physics and also I have a request for u sir can u talk about drift forces and the law of preservation on energy when there’s presence of friction a coefficient of friccion I really would appreciate it
Dear Sir, I just had one question if in case you remember me! In some of the videos, I have seen a INFINITE model, like Newton's Cradles..with 3 metal balls, what's it called?
Its my dream to personally met you in my life .you are amazing by the way I am indian from madhya pradesh. I appreciate your contribution in the branch of physics.
Walter sir 🌟, If we spin an magnet in space ( no air resistance) will the magnet slowly stop spinning due to production of em waves....what kind of force stops it? Even in the case of accerating charge, what is the opposing force that reduces the energy of accerating charge....so that energy is carried by em wave? Thank you sir 🌟
Sir,i like physics, i can understand theory,i can imagine the pictures, graphs but i don't like solving problems ...is it my excuse to skip difficulty or is it a sign of a potential inside me about physics ?? I know that it is totally another topic from your video..but i choosed to comment on this video as it is the latest video...so that this question reaches you....please help me as i am in my high school ...and before my college i have to take very strong decisions about my subject for graduation....that's why i ask you about that....
Hello professor please tell me what is the life of physicst after retirement. Because a great different creat before & after retirement. Is it really joyful?
Hello, Mister Lewin! Please consider the deepest meaning of this question - What if we do not take into consideration the plank's length/constant, what part of math breaks down (and when) and at what point of calculating the size and the age of the universe we are forced to stop and we are not able to advance/make further predictions? I know that for you, when it comes to math and physics, quantum theory is equivalent to breathing air. Can you ignore my lack of dexterity and make a video in which you explain, intuitively, where the math would fail to explain the universe if the plank's constant would not exist? if you decide to make a video, please take enough time to find some intuitive examples. Thanks!
The Atlantic coast is very impressive. Especially in autumn, winter and springtime. Because of the stormy weather. Are there lighthouses at Rhode Island? If not, it is less romantic as in Brittany.
Respected Walter Lewin sir , I am stuck in a problem related to magnetism and capacitor . Only you can answer my queries . I request you to tell me that how can i ask you that question and where to ask ..
Sir i have a thought about time dilation and i want your opinion on this so please read it once and let me know your opinion From the beginning of the Era, we measure time by clocks but if we increase the speed of the clock's hand, time will seem to be fast comparative to usual, and time will be slow down if we decrease the speed of clock's hand, In general, all the clocks work at the same speed still, speed is also relative, So if we take the clock to another corner of space, the speed of the clock's hand may vary. Time could either slow down or speed up, but in my opinion it's not the time that is kept on changing due to speed, it's just a result of error in method of measuring time becouse, at some point we are measuring time dependent of speed which is relative. One second is also equal to the time duration of 9,192,631,770 peroids of the radiation corresponding to the transition between hyperfine levels of the fundamental unperturbed ground state of caesium - 133 atom (from 1976 January 1,system of units). If it takes same time to radiate 9,192,631,770 times at any corner of the universe, it can be concluded that time is not changing. The above conclusion is against Einstein's theory of time dilation, i.e 'if we move at a speed of light, the clock's hand seems to be freeze and time will slow down" So, is it time that goes delayed, or is it just because of wrong method of measuring time?
Hlo sir , I have been struggling in a magnetism question for about a week . I need your help sir . Kindly tell me where and how can i ask you that problem 🙏🙏
Sir I think " A particle does not exist if it does not move " And here is my explanation please take a look on this and tell me what you think about it. Understanding the quote said by Mr. Albert Einstein "The faster you move through space, The slower you move through time, So, what if a particle does not move? Although in present not even a single particle is totally stationary because all the universal bodies are rotating towards the body having higher mass than them for example if we are stationary in earth it doesn't means universally we are at rest because earth is rotating towards sun and sun would be rotating towards other star even galaxies and universe rotating towards those universe who have higher masses than them because of force of attraction. So coming back to converse of Einstein's statement "the slower you move through space the faster you move through time " So considering a partical which does not move then, time will be at it's fastest speed and nothing is for last longer every particle is going to destroy (accept that quasipaticle) So that particle at rest will immediately die, in micro seconds and even less than that because time is at it's fastest speed which concluded that a particle cannot be exist if it's not moving or at rest.
Its fine to declare you don't have Parkinson's; however, there are quite a few post-production ways to stabilize shaky video's so we don't get nauseous.
