sounds great 👍 maybe some ideas on what woods are best for certain types of project, which woods lend themselves to more decorative applications (stains etc.) - when is it a good idea to use an open grain wood as opposed to one with a tighter grain and vice versa - nothing too exotic, just the woods that are commonly available in the UK
Awsome Mike. Always good to revisit even if attempted before, and you explain so well that I would really appreciate rack project you chose to deliver. Highly recommend you to any new turner.
Hello Mike, I think this is a wonderful idea. Will you be covering "green" wood and the process of preserving it for future use? I will definitely be watching thank you.
I like this a lot. It would be helpful to also indicate when you stop to sharpen a tool. Not the actual sharpening, just that you need to sharpen. I still am never quite sure when I should take a moment to sharpen a tool.
Even with all that has gone before,Mike, this should prove most welcome. Sanding and finishing are two of my weaknesses, BTW. I'm sure a lot of turners will benefit from such a series. Looking forward to the style of presentation you propose. You have made a good start with this introduction. Bernard.
Good idea Mike. I would like to see in this series of videos some hints and tips for those of us who haven’t got the top of the range lathe, chuck, tools, sanders etc and just use what we can get our hands on for our turnings. A ‘turning for the common man’ series!
I look forward to this very much. You have taught me so much thus far and I thank you for that. Excited to see what you have in the future. Again thank you for all you have shared with us in the past.
What a great idea Mike! I am looking forward to these videos. I hope you are planning on doing real time turning (as opposed to speeded up 4x or 8x)… I know that, at least for me, I get frustrated with speeded up videos because it doesn’t let me know how long a project will actually take. That having been said, your videos have always been informative and instructive! 😊
Very good idea Mike. Sometimes another point of view or approach to the same problem can make sense where as another explanation doesn't. Plus there's always something to learn. Geoff
Good idea! I always enjoy your videos, and I always get a bit of wisdom and a trick or two. I am 80 and a lot of the tips I find that I knew years ago and have forgotten. It helps to refresh my memory. Keep them coming! THANKS!!
Mike- I've learned so much from you in the past, but do still have my weak spots. I'm ready for you to do this for us newer turners. Thanx for sharing!
Great idea Mike! So many times, as we watch a video an explanation as to what's being done, thought process, product used, etc. would be a good thing to have. I think it will be a good way for many to have their questions answered. Take care, Dave
I reckon this is a great idea. I love watching turning videos. Just a pity most are sped up and no communication with the viewer as regards problems the Turner might face etc etc. I especially enjoy yours because you go into detail as to what you are doing for example some don't say what the use you just see sandpaper you explain that you start with say 180 and go to 320 etc
Good idea to make short videos covering the basics. But please no speeded up video. There is really no need for it. Whatever you show, please do it in real time.🙂🙂
Belting idea Mike, could even have a look at altering grind angles and approach angles for different aspects. I know modding tools to suit myself has helped my turning work improve a fair bit,but experience is hard won👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😎😎😎😎😎
Hello mate , I shall look forward to the series especially as I have done very little turning for over a year as I haven't been at all well ,So the series will be a much needed refresher for me . Take care mate, Bram
That sounds great m8 and u can call it turn with Mike. It be interesting to see ur though proses of what to make from that wood . U got my thumbs up m8
A brilliant plan! I’m often discouraged by videos that skip over the “simple” steps. Sanding is a crucial step and I’m flummoxed over how some turners seem to breeze through it with not a single trouble spot (that we know of). I can’t wait for this series as I’m just retired and am diving deeply into the craft (I have far more paint colors that I can ever hope to use). Cheers, Mike! You’ve been a great help to me.
Looking forward to this series of videos. I’m sure I’ll enjoy them as much as I did your videos on individual turning tools. The information in those videos was quite helpful.
Hi Mike, that would be very helpful to us new turners. I am on week 5. I am not new to woodworking, but have a lot to learn. I look forward to your helpful videos.
I love the idea! Could you make sure to cover how you finish the bottom of the bowl and remove the tennon? Almost all videos do not show this step. Please keep up the videos, you are a gifted turner and teacher.
I'll be looking forward to them... I watched you in the early days ( 8 years ago), when I was learning and picked up sooo much. Now I watch for the artistic content, but direct my students( yes I now teach at a local club), to your videos and techniques. This will be most welcome addition to gain valuable knowledge.
I'm so looking forward to seeing these videos. I find that sanding is a very important step that so many turners miss.

I first started turning using your videos as guides, along with other folk such as Colwin Way and Jason Breach…all good tuition and in valuable
Hi Mike. Your proposal would certainly interest me, and short videos match my attention span 🌞
I like this a lot. It would be helpful to also indicate when you stop to sharpen a tool. Not the actual sharpening, just that you need to sharpen. I still am never quite sure when I should take a moment to sharpen a tool.
Some comments about lathe speed, depending on diameter, weight, shaping and sanding etc? Great idea for a video series
Can't wait

That all sounds very useful Mike.
I like the idea of the 20 minute bite size chunks, easily digested over a coffee and biscuit break!
What a great idea Mike! I am looking forward to these videos. I hope you are planning on doing real time turning (as opposed to speeded up 4x or 8x)… I know that, at least for me, I get frustrated with speeded up videos because it doesn’t let me know how long a project will actually take. Great idea Mike and I for one will be watching them.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw

Great news on your new series, Mike….I’m looking forward to watching and seeing what you have to say……All the best with it

Sounds like a great idea Mike. I think the experienced turners would also benefit from seeing perhaps a different option to their normal practice.
As a complete novice, I would appreciate any help or guidance you can offer and look forward to viewing.
Thanks Mike, I think this is a great idea. It will be excellent for turners like me who have been turning for less than 4 years.
Great idea Young Mike
I think it is a great idea. I have most technics down but my approach and problem solving can be much better

That is a great idea Mike. I always recommend your how to use each tool to anyone new to turning as they are great. So I will add these to the list.
