    I grew up herping in MD. Loved it when I'd come across E. Hognosed and get them playing dead. One of my favs after smooth green snakes.

    Hognose are my favorite snakes as well. Thanks for the video. My picture is a Mexican hognose, they look so similar to the western hognose I wonder if you know what the visual differences would be? I can't tell them apart.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! Mexican and Western Hognose are incredibly difficult to tell apart. In keys I've used, they differ in the number of scales right behind their upturned snouts, Mexican Hogs have 6 or fewer scales, Westerns usually have 9 or so.

      @@outsidewithsebastian I misspoke 😁 the picture wasn't included. Oops. Thanks for answering. I wonder if their attitude is the same if you had one of each as a pet. Would be fun to compare all of the hognoses.
