I disagree with both Siskel & Ebert about The Mighty Ducks. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I still enjoy watching it from time to time as an adult.
I always thought Mr. Baseball was an underrated sports move. Tom selleck looked the part of an old major leaguer and he did look like a real athlete. The music was great and the heart of the movie made it so down to earth.
@@JoeBuck207 there is enough good moments in the second half of the movie for it to be a good movie. It's not bull duram but it's still a solid movie. It's a B or B minus movie in my book.
John Malkovich & Gary Sinise were Steppenwolf Theater actors. They did a smoking version of Sam Shepard's True West.I need to take another look at Mice&Men:)
Thanks, I was referring to the 2019 version where some modern sensibilities were infused in the script. They were praising Mice of Men for not doing things like that.
Listening to Gene talk about laserdiscs was amusing. It's like somebody talking about Sony MiniDiscs. They were supposed to be the Next Big Thing in consumer electronics. I knew a few people who had a laserdisc player and a collection of discs. But....well, I think one of the Video Pirates in Amazon Women on the Moon says it best: "What good are they? You can't record on 'em!" Plus, your collection took up a lot of space, and you had to flip the disc over halfway through the feature, which interrupted your viewing experience. Videocassettes were smaller, cheaper, and you could set your VCR to record a TV show or movie when you weren't home and then watch it later. All of that added up to make laserdisc movies and players simply not worth the expense for most people.

He looks like Keith Hernandez
They were right about the accuracy of the movie. I’ve heard that they show this movie to American ballplayers who plan to play ball in Japan.
The first half of the movie is hilarious then the movie starts to sink.

I thought they did as well
Man , I remember my date getting a bit weepy at the end. Well I guess my eyes were not too dry either. Great movie!
I agree with them I was disappointed with Hero all the potential of something really good...But Prime Geena Davis 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Completely agree with you. Geena Davies is always a plus for a movie.
Mr Baseball was one of those movies I appreciated more as I got older.
The thought of Siskel looking disapproving while some ten year olds enjoy the film makes me smile.
I like an American in Paris & Of Mice & Men 👍🌟🌟🌟
Sure, mighty ducks is formulaic. And it nails that formula
"Jive talking Black kid" lol
It's what's missing in modern movies, maybe Shane Black will right it:)
Mo like the Mighty Turkeys

Their praise of Mice and Men makes me wonder what their criticism would have been for the updated version of Little Women
The program where they reviewed Little Women is over on siskelandebert.org under Disney Years - 1994.

Thanks for posting.
Eh they got it wrong with The Mighty Ducks. It's awesome. But, to each their own.
They were right that it was a very predictable story and characters. I liked it when I saw it as a kid.
So Gary Sinise has to deal with Lennie.. And 2 years later, he has to deal with Forrest Gump. :)
Oh Gene, comedies really are different than mine. I also enjoyed Mr. Baseball Roger.
Mighty Ducks, meh.
