honestly what makes naughty dog like no other every since uncharted 1 dropped way back in 2007 i knew they were the best to do it at young age and they only impress me me more . Games like these are why i will never enjoy tv like others

It’s a matter of preference. I don’t have the time or the patience to commit to games like that, altho I enjoy the narrative a lot, so it works for me. It was pretty fun watching radbrad play a fast paced game like doom eternal as well, altho that’s such a fast paced game I wouldn’t even mind playing it. Really depends more so on if the game plays like a movie or is intense.
The fact that you could totally miss this scene hurts me for everyone that missed it

Yeah I missed it the first time through but not the 2nd or 3rd time 😆 Def my fav quiet part of the game along with the Ellie Joel flashback at the Dinosaur museum. Playing through the first 2 games its hard to realise these charachters dont actually exist and thats credit to ND.

"worse" must be meant as "not too clean, sterile and technical, but with all the bunch of emotions and feelings ellie carries with her. she did it in a masterly way, listening with closed eyes lets you feel everythin, and when you open your eyes you can see that the facial expressions are so well captured that it supports it totally - no uncanny valley at all. so well done, naughty dog, so weill done, ashley johnson!
Ellie was on her way for a massacre, so you know it won't be fitting for her to have a perfect singing moment lol

The show in season 2 isnt going to be able to perform as well as Pt2 story (which already is pretty bad.. lol) but without Ellie “being Ellie” its gonna be tough for the season to have any realism, which is what carried the game.
This moment is what let me power through the game, just hoping for more moments of absolute contrast and grief expressed without exposition.
the moment she goes into thought about losing joel and the way she starts sounding sadder and sadder, is more empowered by the moment she looks at dina and cheers back up as she starts the next verse... man so awesomely animated

This is one of the many rewards you get in this game just for exploring and not going straight to the objective. Beautiful game when I found this scene in the music shop I couldn’t get the smile off my face

I took my time to explore every single bit in the game from every house to every room the attention to details are amazing you can feel how ppl have lived by looking at their room and reading the notes

Crusard Modding exactly. Despite how you may feel about certain characters, story beats, etc, you can’t argue that scenes like these are some of the best video game moments ever put to screen, along with the Joel flashbacks.

I went into this game with an open mind, despite the hate it’s been getting, and halfway through the game I was angry and devastated at the direction it took. But after completing it and experiencing it for myself I can say that it did a phenomenal job in getting me to feel the emotions that it wanted me to, and I actually ended up loving it. I have to give it to ND, they took a huge risk in setting up the structure of the story, you don’t spend years crafting a narrative without having an idea of what the player reactions are going to be, pretty sure they knew that opinions were going to be this intense-and downright vitriolic from certain circles.
This. This game is a storytelling marvel and a milestone for videogaming. The only game I have EVER seen to actually make the player pay attention to what's happening, what they are doing as the player, what they are doing as the character they are controlling. What they DID as the character they controlled. The only game I have ever seen to actually make the player feel guilt. Its the only game I have ever seen to have connection to the player on this level. In saying this, I count The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II as a single game.

This is what actually i want to say. Everything happened with a reason. Whatever Ellie, Joel or Abby, they just only a normal human in the end day world. Life have bad things and good things happen, thats what TLOU2 let us to know. Although we may lost, but the love we feel is still here. Everything is only a choice.
People dont understand what this game did for me. It actually prevented me from CONTINUING my revenge on somebody. I literally cried. POWERFUL.
Its an emotional game that makes players feel pain. Its brutal and it feels realistic.
This and the first game: Greatest emotional gaming experiences of my life so far. I love them. Both endings had me crying uncontrollably.

To me, this is one of the best cutscenes in all of video games. It's a perfect example of "show, don't tell". If you know how the story plays out, and you take the background of these characters into account, this scene transports so much more than just one girl playing the guitar and another girl listening. All of those subtle gestures and facial expressions are meaningful. For Dina, this is an important scene for her emotional relationship to Ellie. And you can see it in her face. You can see it in her careful distance, she is faced with something wonderful and fragile here.
And some lines of the song text ... Again, if you know the whole story, there is a lot you can read into this. Also the fact that Ellie projects all of her feelings only into the music and doesn't notice Dinas facial expression, and Dinas attempts to make eye contact.
There is so much in there. This scene is a microcosm of the Ellie-Dina story arc.

This is the only “singing a song to significant other” scene that doesn’t start being cringey after ten seconds! Beautiful.
Also, hits way different after playing the whole game. There’s a sad look in Dinas eyes, like she’s hoping Ellie can stay this way and not be consumed by revenge and grief. And “I’ll be gone in a day or two” - the 3 day structure! Wonderful acted and written, god what a good game.

It was pretty easy to find this segment lol. Like it the music shop was very easy to stumble into in the downtown Seattle segment

H2 everything , it’s not a perfect game because I think it has some pacing issues and structure , but the overall message was delivered in such a way that you either get it , or you don’t , you either love it or hate it

Mekshis ok but then if she killed abby then lev would kill ellie to avenge abby then jj would kill lev for revenge it’s an endless cycle that ellie ended by sparing abby.
I'm about 18 hours in the game and loving every second of it. There're people bashing this game based on the prologue, leaked cutscenes and "forced diversity." Then there's people who skim through a rushed playthrough and claim they understand the story. Sad, really. If you say this game has shit writing you have completely missed every point the writers were trying to make or can't get over the fact that your self-insert character dies in the beginning. Joel's story arc had ended, it's not bad writing to kill off the previous protagonist to kick off Ellie's story.
There's a reason this game is so critically acclaimed, getting numerous 10/10s. And no, it's not because the reviewers were paid.

I am unsatisfied how they finished the story. I didn't like how much time we had to play as Abby; instead, we should have been able to play Ellie more, as she is the main protagonist in this game. And what pisses me off is the fact you had to play Abby on Seattle Day 3 evening (not going to go further into spoilers).

i could not agree more. i sat through and played the game for 30 hours straight. explored every section and chapter and i feel like this game is criminally underrated.

I can see how people could dislike the game's narrative and some decisions the developers made, however I haven't had any problems with them so far and find the storytelling clever and intriguing.

I cried 23 times in total. These 2 games probably have the best storytelling in anygame. I never felt emotional in a game but this specific one hit me hard. Espicially the very last cutscene with Joel And Ellie

They just hate because they are too attached to their loveable characters. They should consider it's a apocolapyse theme/world where people will die at any moment. Haters are dissapointed about their fates, but hey it's not for them to decide what will happen in the world of the last of us. Neil only shows his vision about the cruel world the characters are living.

Or at least with Tommy, since when she left to "kill" Abby even though Dina said not too, she (Ellie) made her decision to make peace with her past instead of being happy with what they have in the present. By getting peace on her past, she sacrifices her present, thus ending her marriage.
Maybe not. Here's my take: The hatred that Ellie harbors for Abby is an externalized reflection of the hatred Ellie feels towards herself. Why? Well Ellie hates Abby for torturing Joel to death, especially because she didn't get a chance to restore her relationship with Joel. This is a mirror because Ellie also tortured Joel, she did it for years but in a different way, and I'd say in a way that was more painful for Joel, and that was by distancing herself from him and ending her relationship with him. She hates herself for torturing him like that and not restoring their relationship when there was time. That's the real pain she has been avoiding facing during this entire revenge quest. When she has the flashback to the scene on the porch with Joel and spares Abby, she's not just forgiving Abby, she's really forgiving herself and finally coming to terms with what happened between her and Joel, so she leaves his guitar in the house to rest and allows herself to start a new life. I hated the ending at first, but I've sat with it for a while and I'm starting to come around.
Ellie probably would've ended up as a famous singer if she'd been around before the outbreak.

I feel not only is she singing this to Dina but also in the memory of Joel. The words of the song go pretty good with the story of the first game. Was a good hidden gem in the game.

Honestly, I’ve literally played hundreds of games and naughty dog are the best developers I’ve ever seen at developing storyline, emotion, and developing characters that aren’t one note. This and uncharted are incredible.

Man this part hits different after I finished the game SPOILER ALERT: This song talks about taking the challenge of a relationship and Dina took it with Ellie but ended up failing for the seek of revenge, she ended up leaving her and that is so sad because Ellie’s fear was ending up alone.

I like to think that they got back together and Ellie tried her hardest to win her back after returning from santa monica. When Ellie arrives at the farmhouse she doesn´t carry any weapons on her and she wears Dinas bracelett again, which she didn´t when she went to Santa Monica. Which could be a hint that she was in Jackson before going to the farmhouse and plans to straight things out between Dina and her or already has done so. The fact that the conversation between Joel and Ellie too has a lot of attention on the relationship between Dina and Ellie and Ellies feelings for her is a good indicator too.
Boris Borigi man that is some deep thought and I agree 100%, it gives a satisfying touch to the ending since she had lost everything and emphasized her fear of ending alone. Just wish Joel was still alive, I mean the great dad and daughter relationship they could have had would be amazing.

Definitely one of the best moments of this game. Still can’t get over the emotional rollercoaster I’ve felt all throughout the game and because of this, I don’t think I could ever move on, maybe I never will.
i think this game is great, despite how much people hate it. this game gave strong message to me mostly about love and forgiveness that i will never forget.

Honestly, this is my favourite game. ND knew this game will split the fanbase. But the characters are well written, of course some points are "interesting ideas" in the story but I am happy that ND had the balls to brake the rules and create something different.

I love how I completely missed this section of the game in my first playthrough and then on my second playthrough as well! I think it's because I'm so used to closed doors in open worlds like GTA that I didn't even bother to check the music store. Then I saw a tweet where someone tattooed this scene on their arm! That's how much it meant to them and now I know why. I found this place in my third playthrough and sat through the whole thing smile crying... Love this game and everything about it.

When she said "It's no better to be safe than sorry" literally sounded so sad, it gave Ellie's voice a hint that she's thinking of Joel in this scene. Damn, this made me tear up.
By far one of my favorite scenes in the series. As a musician, this song just hit differently. Kudos for whoever decided to do this song.

i didnt like the direction they chose to develop the story, at first, and i felt upset and betrayed. but after completing the game, i cant help loving the way the devs did it. it is such an emotional roller coaster with such a deep experience. most of today's tv shows' creators should learn from these guys, how to tell a great story.
Dina is so sweet, the way she looks at Ellie... She just loves her so much
To be honest, The Last of Us Part II has its flaws story-wise, but Ellie and Dina's relationship is really awesome. I love how it's not exactly plot-related, there's no suspense of whether they'll get together or not, it's just two people appreciating each other for who they are
I feel like Dina is there just to be there. She doesn't add anything extra to the game for me and for many others too.
@@user-us9mk1de9m i agree with that, however, I believe, that makes it kind of realistic: most people aren't in our lives for any good reason. Dina is the same: she doesn't add to or take away from the story
@@Senki207 no i meant it like in a low budget movie, how the protagonist's girlfriend is there and does practically nothing. The only things that we know about dina is that she had an older sister that was killed, she is Jewish and she didn't grow up in a military quarantine zone. We learned more things about Henry and sam and we had only a couple of hours of gameplay with them. With dina we had half the game.

Apparently its even better than it sounds here too Neil had to get her to tone it down so it sounded like Ellie to be realistic because her singing voice is just so good. Read that in an article.

I hope they managed to establish some of these special moments in the show for sure. It follows the game very closely and not at other times so we will see :)
This song takes me back to the 'TLOU' universe and I kinda miss being in the eerie post-apocalyptic universe. :')
Goosebumps realizing song was also some pretty ominous foreshadowing given the next two days in Seattle as Ellie lost herself in pursuit of her vengeance and ultimately ended up losing or abandoning everyone she cared about.
After a stressed, long day this makes you happy and forget all bad things in this world

Ellie playing Take On Me is def my fav scene! It really symbolizes how short life is and how you can really miss the time you have with the ones u love (Joel). I even played it on my channel in honor of those two lol
This brings me so much genuine happiness, I love Ellie and Dina together and I think we all really needed this moment of peace after that scene with Joel.

When I bought the game I originally wanted to play it in one night but then this song made me cry. It was so amazing that I just said "well, there's no way this game could possibly get any better" and I just went to bed.
I have finished the game about one week ago and am on my second run now. Just yesterday I played the flashback section again where Ellie and Joel visit the museum on Ellie's birthday. I had a similar experience, I stopped afterwards because the scene is so damn beautiful that I wanted to rest at it for the whole day and think about it without going to the next piece already.
