I believe he didn’t want him, but wanted to be him. He loved the idea of him, but hated him being the idea instead of himself.

He loved him.... Even the director said that if he'd loved him back, oliver would've not done everything... He loved him but at the same time he envied him
He was a psychopath and wanted to BE him and have everything he had. As the movie clearly shows, he orchestrated everything from the very beginning. Obsession and jealousy but not love. He didn't even know him at all when he started scheming.
i dont think its as simple as that, you should watch some of emerald fennell's interviews i think its much more nuanced than just black n white " he was a psychopath", hes literally an unreliable narrator i think he pretends as if he planned this all out to compensate for his sadness in losing felix after being found out of his family life. If he did orchestrate this from the start, i dont think we wouldve seen the grave scene. Emerald fennell said in an interview that oliver's ideal ending would be living at saltburn with felix. i seriously wonder what wouldve happened if felix didnt drive him back to his parents place. this movie is so interesting ive been unpacking it for a week now
@@lucIuc666of course Oscar had never planned all this ,he just wanted to be with Felix for this he lied and told more lies to Felix until his lie was caught and we'll he had to murder him and maybe yeah because of its guilt that he pretends as he planned it to overcome his guilt.

If Felix somehow hadn’t rejected Ollie after the truth about his parents came out, I’m sure Felix wouldn’t have died

Never talk to the silent kid folks
Not befriending the silent kid is cruel. People can be shy.
Not befriending the silent kid and bullying/shoving them away is what brings the revolt, not the fact that they are silent.
Also, some kids are silent because they don't enjoy gossip/drama and are actually sane kind people.
Some are quiet bcz too busy doing work amount to get into an ivy league college. Hard to have a social life at the same time/ppl hate on nerds.
Some are silent bcz of n underlying secret physical medical conditions that is at their discretion whether to share what it is or not.
Some can't afford the dentist and have been bullied before.
Some have been told their voice is annoying because it sounds too unique or younger compared to their peers.
Some were raised to be mostly silent by parents, over-controlling parents or just by culture.
Silence isn't a predetermination of insanity. It's just been perpetuated which has increased the bullying which reinforces the made-up prophecy, but that makes it a false correlation.

I loved Saltburn and Felix/Oliver’s relationship and it's so cool to see it play out in this beautiful video!
Am I crazy or a genius for thinking that, while Oliver was obsessed with the idea of what Felix represented, with weird psychosexual undertones and some kind of bond they developed, Felix actually fell in love with him(or rather, with the version of him that he thought was real)/had a crush on him. The way he was jealous of him, always looking at him with longing, and just acting in a seductive way around him + the scene when he kissed his cheek...

Movie name: Saltburn. Released in November 2023, so relatively new, and is just over 2 hours long. Haven’t watched it but will definitely be looking into it further.

I understand Oliver. Sucks not to be a Felix type. It all comes easy for them. I had a similar after high school experience. I wormed my way into a small town jocks life through a mutual friend. Got close but never had sex. I did give him back rubs and foot rubs. Fed his ego but after a year or two he married a nice woman and we were done. Never wanted to harm him but the things I would have done for him. I am older and wiser. I hope Oliver finds peace.

The biggest let down of the movie was the ending. I still dont understand Oliver's actions. What was his motivations? Fortune? His parents seemed "rich" they frequently took their 5 kids to Mykonos which is in Greece. They lived in a wealthy neighborhood in a large home. Was it obsession? Love? Hate? At first the movie felt like a refreshing twist to a Cruel Intentions or Basic Instincts kind of story then it ended in such a bizarre ending. The movie also forces side characters to be oblivious. Despite it all...still a solid movie. I mean Jacob Elordi is just...beautiful lol

another movie with an evil effed up gay guy like white lotus 2 and talented mr Ripley. Actually liked the film- the actor who played Oliver is excellent but as a married gay man ive got issues with how we're portrayed .
I don’t think it’s a slur on gay people - it’s about psychopathic obsession, where the main characters happen to be men. There are also plenty of movies about deranged female obsession in heterosexual relationships.
