After watching the second season, I had mixed feelings about Malakai's character. First of all, the way that they made Malakai's realization that he is bisexual (crushing on Amerie's stalker and invalidating Amerie's feelings) but ending his exploration with just... let's skip it and get back with Amerie's love plot interest, like if they were saying that bisexuality tends to work like that, like you could change your preferences and physical attraction easily, like a hook-up tinder match or a change of clothes. Bisexuality doesn't work like that and if you start developing sentiments for an specific individual, you are going to get through until the end. This season about bisexuality feels like watching Maestro from Netflix, where they did the same thing about "real implications towards attraction" just ignoring the consequences of exploring your sexuality and saying "we really don't care that much, because we just need to be more "inclusive" and that's it" Nooo. So in essence, as a bisexual person, I really felt watching his character very "invalidated' towards attraction and a downfall in his character's development.
Secondly, they completely ignore his cultural background (the problem with the police in the other season) and the lack of connection with other characters besides Amerie and the forced way he tried to connect with Darren just because they are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Feels really bad, again like they were saying that his character only exist to be the plot interest of Amerie and that's all.

Having just binge watched the first two seasons, I really hope the show explores Malekai's bisexuality more in season 3. They probably won't, though considering it's the final season, and Malekai will probably spend it fixated on Amerie.

i would've loved this a lot more if he hadn't gaslit the fuck out of amerie. like all homegirl was trying to do was CARE about you. not just that, but also for him to go to HER HOUSE and ask for advice on how to win back the guy of whom he quite literally ghosted her for, who was secretly obsessed with amerie the whole entire time, and nearly KILLED, that was just gross all around. when amerie started reading him i was sooo happy because it was so deserved and necessary. like my guy, how dare you ghost me, gaslight me, blame everything on me, and have the nerve to come to MY house for advice cuz your boy toy didn't wanna deal with you anymore?

But I think he was just confused all along and discovering n stuff but maybe he always loved amerie throughout all of that too but sure it’s no excuse for how badly he treated her

This is so overwhelming for me. Malakai, Rowan, Spider, Dusty are all handsome. But i like Malakai the most. Im currently stucked at the episode when Malakai and Rowan on the bed, when he finally decided to forget Amerie. I love Malakai so much but I'm so sorry to Amerie. Amerie doesn't deserve that. Eventho, im a bit happy Malakai also likes guy, but Im not happy if he with another guy other than me lol (delusional but im being serious). At some early episodes until the one i still stucked right now (just because its so overwhelming for me and I cannot bear yet to go to another episode), Rowan seems very nice. But i still dont want Malakai to be with him over Amerie, besides Im being jealous, I also dont know how to tell my feelings that the relay between them is not right. Oh gosh, i wish director can take me casting, so that I can be with Malakai (the most), or Rowan, or Spider, or Dusty that have a happy relationship (lol, again im being delusional but serious, cuz they are just so handsome and attractiveeeee).... whatever,,,,, btw i ever thought about if Harper did not do the 3some with Malakai, Malakai might not be

Hi im here again after just finished the series. Now what i can conclude is, I want Amerie and Malakai to get back to each other, their love is pure. And as for Rowan, please take me as new character that can be his partner. Now, i feel sorry for all. The ending is actually quite good. Idk, maybe cuz i think Malakai would be back in S3, hope so. So the people that i feel sad for now is Amerie, Rowan, and Malakai. For Dusty, damn, hes hot.
