Canon R7 - Is it worth buying in 2022?

The Canon R7 specification is really impressive but s the R7 worth buying this year, or are you better off waiting for the next full frame Canon R8. In this video I take a look at the specification of the R7 and give you my opinion of the camera.

Sure, not many EF-S lenses are great, but there are some... I believe 15-85 would be fantastic for a reporter with R7 and 55-250 STM for wildlife and sports. These are very decent optics.

I suppose the real question for a sports/action/wildlife shooter on a budget would be 'New Canon R7 or Used Nikon D500?' There are some affordable used 300mm lenses for Nikon F mount.

For wildlife photography the R7 should be a great match with the 400mm f5.6 ef (same era of lens as the first 70-200 f4 ef). This would give a very lightweight, sharp, fast focusing, stabilized lens with a further cropping option down to 15mp (a bit like having an 800mm lens).
