Brings back memories I bought one in England when I was there in the 80's and when I got back to California Riverside, I had to put it in a public storage facility with a bunch of my other instruments so I could get situated in Northern California, and when I went back to get my things someone had broke in and took everything, I found one guitar string on the floor and not kidding the storage facility did nothing about it. Still doing music and now have another arsenal of instruments.
@@leejamesmusicandfilmI totally understand. But I'm glad you got some new gear. But I will let you know that I've been coming across some Rogues for sale online and can honestly say that they're still fairly cheap. Running roughly between $800 to $1,000.
I was messing around with mine and totally by accident, I actually got the sound Keith Emerson used on the Karn Evil 9 Second impression with the random LFO routed through the filter. Sounds EXACTLY like Emerson's modular Moog that he used on that song.
I just bought one of these, and I was showing it to one of my friends. Anyways like many do he looked at it and said "Ah you got a Mewg I see!". He even went as far as to call it the "Mewg Rewg". I had to teach him the correct pronunciation. I love this synth though, so nice and meaty. I love your video as well, you do know how to make a sick sounding bass! Keep it up!
loads of people pronounce it mewg the two Os make that understandable, and as a surname you can use either, but not rewg how could you look at it and think that lol
Superb demo illustrating the breadth of tones this oft-disparaged cheapo can produce. I bought one recently and this video provides an excellent tutorial to help me (or anyone) to get going. Thank you.
i loved my rogue, still miss it,v limited synth but hey i still loved it.come to think about it,ive only got one mono left-the oscar.had and sold-rogue/101/202/pro1/source/spirit/ms10. the only ones i miss are the spirit and the rogue.shame theyre so expensive now so youngsters cant get one and let rip with them
an absolute beast on its own, but these small, cheaper synths really open a whole world of possibilities when you consider cv'ing them into a larger rig. an extra couple of modulated oscillators into a big-boy synth? yes please!
+garysmithsontv grab the manual .. could probably find it online and learn it ... i have a voyager XL trust me after you read the manual you're good ~!!
Ciao Valentino, davvero interessante questo strumento.Spiegami una cosa, per suonare questo strumento bisogna per forza suonare il piano?Mi potresti dire il modello esatto del tuo Moog?Hai registrato qualche brano? Grazie.
@@eladreltuc I forgot about this post lol. Since then, I have picked up a GM, as well as a DFAM, M32, and Subharmonicon! I am hoping to get a Matriarch on a BF sale this year.
too many silly people on the net make DUMB comments! the Sub 37 is ANALOG!!!! the digital part is just for the patches/storage etc. it has nothing to do with the sound!!! you can programme some cool vintage sounds with the Sub 37!! they all have their own character. and what speakers is people using? my sub is massive on the bass!!
In fact the Realistic MG-1 misses just the 2 wheels, for the rest it has more than the Rogue. The MG-1 has a slider for an organ-sound and it has a ring modulation effect. So the MG-1 certainly passes not under the Rogue.
will come back. with much better modulation options. the same osc sound. a crazy machine. as eurorack modul and stand alone version. price is .... for everyone possible. anyware instruments.
monologue? you mean monophonic, no virtual analogue like those two is going to sound like this, it is expensive but unfortunately that's what they cost these days, the Pro-1 is even more expensive, and look at the TB303 that only has one oscillator at least the Rogue has two, they all have an irreplaceable sound
Define "better sounds" You mean thin digital weak whimpy? Then yes those two Rolands will work. Don't even get me started on Gaia2🙄 sounds cold as ice and quite horrible
The angriest Moog of them all, almost sounds like an ARP - and that's a compliment! ❤️
I can play this synth all day and never get bored.
Best demo of the rogue I have seen yet

Thats so shitty! Sorry to hear that. Riverside really isnt the best spot in south ca LOL
Those places usually almost always, have cameras all over the place. I don't know why they didn't do something about it. That's ridiculous.
@@terrybrown106God I miss it!

@@terrybrown106 that's not bad at all. I had to convert the electric when I got back to the states. Memories!

One of the best demos of this on youtube.
First synth I ever bought, back in 1984. Still got it and it still works fine. I love it.
I've watched this video multiple times to get ideas for my rogue....amazing video...you are an absolute magician with this unit
I felt in love with this synthesizer :o
Excellent demo of this beast's capabilities!
Awesome video!!!!!! Beautiful , I am buying a 'near new condition' Rogue tomorrow, can't wait
Fucking hell. I need this synth. Totally badass.
10:45 to 11:08 reminds me of early Front 242. Superb.
Synth ♡ the rogue was my first synth.
Mine, too!
And mine! Long time ago, but I remember I loved it and it got me into a lifelong interest in Moog and keyboards in general. Brilliant wee synth!
I had one. 1984. Used on King Hohokam 7" and 12" single, for all leads lines.
ahh.. nothing beats analog. Great video!
If I remember rightly, back in the early 80s, these were sold for something like £350. That's well over £1000 today.
Great demo!
Yes, really well done demo!

The Rogue is one of my favorites! Great demo!
He's the only one of the little Moogs to have the sound of modular - I have them both
sounds like some amazing depeche mode stuff
Yes absolutely.
dopE! ....thanks for making me appreciate how awesomE my Rogue really is :)
Dialing in the sweet patches!

Great video and so well preserved synth!!
I own de concertmate MG-1 but its nice to here the differences between the almost comparable Rogue, good demo.
Impressive beast.
ma che figo... la cosa più anni 70/80 del mondo!
great demo the Rogue is more versatile than I thought, I've never had one but have got a SC Pro One that seems to have similar features
Very nice demo...
oh my god i want this so bad.
thanks for this really great Demo!

You get some great sounds. I also have a rogue. I was wondering if you could help me with building a few presets? I can pay for the help.

If I was going to get my first moog, should I spend the extra for this, or will the grandmother be able to produce the same sounds?
GM can do this. I own one.

😮 strabiliante
ok...time to go listen to Trans Am. Absolutely sick
Are you actually playing in a certain key?
What he plays in the first minute or so is in Fm if I'm not wrong.
Very nice demo! Your fingers tell me that you are/were a professional keyboardplayer (true or false?).
This is the same as the Radioshack Realitic isn't it ?
This has a bit more to it.
But the Realistic MG1 is a great piece of hardware, too.

Reznor dovrebbe considerarti per suonare nei Nine Inch Nails O.O"
I would like to hear what this can do without being connected to a PC.
what do you mean? pretty sure the pc was used for recording only.
+trogwallaby You would hear the exact same sounds since those are the sounds of the synth! Nothing to do with the PC.
Thanks, I will keep my eyes open for one.
To be fair there's quite a bit of reverb and sometimes delay on top of the raw sound in places.
niezwykły
listening to this and all i could think of is crystal castles..
This has a FAT sound.
The sound is obese and versatile.
Needs an oscillator scaling.
Monologue and expensive. You can get much better sounds from any SH201 and Gaia synths.
