A proper comedian, took the piss out of everyone, including himself.
The world would be a happier place if every family had a Bernard manning
He was actually a very soft and kind hearted person towards all people, all races, all classes, despite the bashing the media gave him
The sorts of people who bashed him are exactly the kind of Woke hard of thinking virtue signallers (do as I say not as I dooo). By their fruits ye shall know them (not some risqué gags).

That's the problem and they don't do ANYBODY any favours, the truth is these idiots that kick off about everything and want to ban everything for little reason don't help people who are genuinely trying to help others because they are all tared with the same brush.
My mate and his wife met Bernard at the Embassy Club in 1986, said he was a true gentleman. Was legit a real nice bloke, never had any ill will against anyone's race, sexual orientation, gender, or anything . He just wanted to make people laugh.
@@harold5337 exactly, that's how he comes across to me, it was just a different era when people made fun of each other in the understanding it's just a joke, and was simply forgotten about afterwards, it wasn't personal. How did the world become so ignorant of understanding the context of humour?
@@harold5337 I met him at the Embassy Club in 1991. I agree with your mate. Lovely man. 3 Asian guys in the front row getting the Bernard treatment and pissing themselves laughing. Legend.
A working class hero who never forgot his roots and gave back to the community he was born, raised, and died in. R.I.P Bernard
The Love he expressed for his son and grandchildren was truly touching, Great Man Much Missed.
When Bernard came to Dublin many years ago the hall was packed and he called us every name under the sun and insulted us from all angles, we pissed ourselves laughing. He was one great fella!
What a lovely man. I met him at one of his shows...it was an absolute privilege. 🙏
The greatest British stand up comedian, ever!
daisyinbrighton I understand that Stephen Fry (and me by the way(!)) thinks so too.
a man who calls a spade a shovel
That fat lump was not even funny. Glad I don't see his ratchet ass on tv no more!
What ! ? You must be joking

"73 now, I'll give it another 5 or 6 years" - 4, so close! RIP Bernard, great man.
I love you Bernard. RIP. You are one of the finest people to grace this Earth
nice man years ago my 2 brothers had broke down near his club it was raining and he was coming out of his club he invited them both in for a drink and to use the phone nice guy godbless
An interview that highlighted what a genuinely honest and compassionate man he really was, and the humanity and caring he expresses proves his heart was in the right place, and he brought so much joy and laughter to so many over the years, and he's so sadly missed to this day............. May he Rest in Peace
Sometimes he says things that are so beautiful and sentimental.. brings tears to my eyes.
Legend! "They can't stop us laughin" Bernard Manning
Imagine a man painted as terrible person to the public but behind closed doors was one of the most kind & caring human being to ever walk the face of the earth.
This great man Bernard, had nothing, started from nothing, ended up with everything, but wanted for nothing, and gave hell of alot to charity. What a true British entertainer he became, worked all the hours god sends and became an international star.Like he says in the interview he had nowt, but he had the love of his family and that is all that matters if you have that. He was the best teller of jokes ever and his timing was always perfect. I dont think anyone will ever come close to Bernard, and to say his jokes were racist? Rubbish, they were only jokes . Bet your sold out every night up in heaven . Keep em Laffin Bernard
j I actually don’t recall writing this!
Bernard the best ever. Also did a lot for charity. He a legend
Rip Bernard, A great entertainer and true gent.
The best comedian ever. Nobody can replace that humour. His act was exactly what was required for his audiences.
Bernard was a man content with his lot - stuck to his roots and his people even though he made a few quid and could've lived large. True working class man.
Total respect to Bernard
Love how he always takes the piss out of the other comedians
RIP Bernard. What a guy
lovely man! sadly missed.
Nobody misses that fat lump!
@@annalafayette838 grow up you hateful bigot!
This lovely man was completely misunderstood, by those who are mentally challenged !! He was a great humanitarian , supporting charities, ( animals as well ) , bless him. He just didn't shout about it. Sleep tight Bernard xx
Great words about a great man.
Compared to Bernard Manning, every other so-called comedian stands in his shade. Bernard Manning is NOT a racist. If anyone is offended by his jokes, either turn off the television or leave his club, simple.
This was a good interview, one to be listened to.
Very down to earth kind of person, the best.A racist joke does not mean to be racist, dimwits.Racism crawls where ignorance, hate and prejudice have already their stronghold and throughout this interview everyone witnesses the absence of those 3 features in Mr Manning personality. Thanks for posting
A generous and polite man whos career spanned the generations...he was and always will be the gaffer of stand up
Brilliant interview bernard....LEGEND R.I.P.....
Fantastic guy, never a racist people in the black community love him,R I P bernard, god bless.
a great....working class man
He had a great outlook on life, was humble and operated within an internal code of honour not operating on his ego, which is testament to his upbringing.
He could've cleaned up his comedy and made extra millions and also became a neutered t.v star with some nice golden idols awarded to hm annually from the Guilds and critics for the 60 metre Mantelpiece[ which would've had to have been re-enforced and fortified with steel rods for the amount of awards that would've came his way.
A great loss to the world of comedy , as an irishman I could appreciate his humour , took the piss out of every race . A better man than any of the so called comedians today . Just look at his action 're charitable work.
bloody great interview alex nice one
RIP Bernard fantastically talented 😀
Too many adverts soooo annoying 🤷♀️
Liked the interviewer too. So did Our Bernard xx
loved listing to this interview thank you alex belfield benard manning legend rip made me laugh hahahaha
One of the greats!
Well I be damned didn't know Alex was a host interviewing a comedy Legend Bernard Manning, respect 👍👏👏👏👏😀
April 2021
Wonderful interview. Manning normally responded to these situations by telling a load of silly gags. Alex really brought him out -- regardless of what your opinion may be of him. Classic! Thanks.
Funny funny man a legend rip Bernard u will in our memory as one of the funniest guys ever we miiss ya we need someone like u
Manning had one great quality so many comedians never had: he was funny!
Miss you every day Bernard. You made our lives so much better for all the laughs you gave us. The best comedian in the world.
If I’m feeling down I go on utube, to watch Bernard and Dave Allan, they both have me in tears,,they can’t stop us laughing can they,
Bernard i didn't no weather is liked you or not when I was young but as a adult i love you your a fine family man and a very funny man god bless you i bet you have god in stitches god bless you xx
good old bernard manning
10:18 The interviewer thought in 2004 that you couldn't say anything. I wonder what he thinks now!
what year did u do this brilliant interview... thanks alex
I’m guessing late 2003/early 2004 as he said he was 73 at the time. He was born 13/08/1930.
He's the BEST
Probably Britains funniest stand up comedian ever.Even greater than the legandary Max Miller.
So funny, very talented, and a grate singer, he was literally one of my best entertainment’s during the summer lock down 🙂
Best British comic..from an Irishman rip friend
A good man indeed, reminds me very much of my grandad, dry humour and kind.
Here I sit - living half way round the world in the USA - and if i switch on anything on English tv today I feel angry and sad at the disgraceful, insulting, PC crap that passes today as comedy or entertainment - and i miss this man so much... he was the real deal- a genuinely good man who they criticised for ‘racist language’ - not realizing that its called laughter - COMEDY! (Not serious) ... fucking BBC sicko liberal c.... Anyway, at least i have the memories and film clips of that happy, funny man.
He’s right - Thatcher was a wonderful woman - what a brave and honest man.
Christian to the end - says everythibg right there - what a great man Bernard was - and is, somewhere.
You made me laugh Bernard , FUCK` EM
Give free concerts in strange ways they didn't report that did they ,They only reported negative stories about him ,Great interview loved it
Big hearted man.
I came from the same place as Bernard am proud to have known him a true working class hero and a damn sight funnier than a majority of the dross coming up now!r.I.p.
+seanna madra Totally agree, hate to think what he would make of new "Comics" like Michael McIntyre & Jimmy Carr.
seanna madra nhjj
People watch or listen to this kind of comedy, to find a reason to laugh at themselve's.
I only watch what I like! and Bernard was and always will be the best comidien ever to walk the earth. we are all very lucky that he lived in our time! RIP sir Bernard.
The best british comedian ever.
Loved hearing bernard here in his later years. I absolutely hate the fact though that this interviewer is prodding and nibbling at bernard by trying to question his jokes or style 🙄🤦♂️
My mum and dad were Irish and we loved Bernard's Irish jokes , we all laughed at his jokes and did not take it seriously , a great man and sadly missed . RIP Bernard
People tend to find jokes about themselves funny...because stereotypes are based on truth. No-one finds Irish jokes funnier than the Irish...just look at Father Ted. Theirs lots to laugh at.
Bernard always gives a straight and honest interview. I thought he was one of the best comedians ever.
Love Bernard Manning. Miss his genius too and a lot funnier than all the jokers around today.
32 minutes on - have a listen - Bernard the politician what a lovely caring bloke spot on . More people like him make world a better place
Great man, great interview Alex 😍
He was a GREAT man/comedian!!... :) *I'm Glad (generally speaking),that Alex speaks the truth & 'establishment' CORRUPTION!!... :)
So funny this guy….. “ I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND SMILE…..TO GET IT OVER WITH”
Genuine manc. Loyal and hardworking family man.
whats this interviewer trying to do? trying to get him to say he's a racist,so he can say i told u so !!!!!!! r i p bernard .
Really great interview.
Great comedian great interview thank you Alex
The funniest man ever to draw breath
At least he's honest
Dont make em like this anymore....shame
He was just magic .
Very funny fella,, the governor...
Great comedian who was succesful , you cant argue with that and the majority of comments here
bloody brilliant , what a great guy, RIP SIR x
He was in a class of his own, his only crime was making other people laugh, all those who condemned Bernard when he was alive should bow their heads in shame. He had a far better moral compass than any of the politicians we elect or the "woke" who choose to take the high ground and lecture us on how to behave.
Why did he keep pushing him on Ken Dodd
I was surprised to hear him criticise Ken Dodd. I have often thought of Bernard manning as a foul-mouthed Ken Dodd. Both had rapid fire delivery of great humour.
Fantastic, a true legend, RIP Bernard.
Saw Bernard many times at the Embassy. Genuinely funny man.
Remember laughing my ass off to his jokes at 8 yrs old… he was amazing😊
VERY BRAVE INCREDIBLY CLEVER COMEDIAN
His point about dod is fair. But the two of them had timing!.!! That is learned from decades.
shame he missed what became of Manchester city. come on the blues!
good
We won't be able to have banter soon the way things are going. some people don't take offense and some do, the ones that do, Don't watch or listen to this. No hate here.
Its called Bernard's Bombay Dream, type it into youtube for a clip...
love it :)

Top man, best ever
Ken dod is very intelligent he didn’t need to use foul language you were a rough bastard but you did come from Manchester
Susan Morris: you are so right, Ken Dodd was a brilliant comedian and, he never used swear words.
Admire the late comic but disagree totally with his view's on Thatcher.
Me too
He was a bloody good bloke met him.
One of the best stand up comedians that the UK has ever produced...............FACT......
Not one of the best, THE BEST
Wish I could have been there with you both. It seems to me Bernard was a man who was misunderstood by a lot of people, who didn't realise he was putting on an act on stage.
Class act, (from liverpool) bless bernard
Good interview … pleased he wasn’t interviewed by someone being judgmental
I commented earlier on a Roy Chubby Brown video on here. I'll say pretty much the same here. Bernard Manning was a great, creative, intelligent comedian. I'm a lefty and I even accept Jim Davidson is an intelligent and creative comedian. If a person has watched or read the works of Bernard Manning, Roy - Chubby - Brown or Jim Davidson, they are liars if they say they NEVER laughed. But those folk spoil their act with brutal racism.
Racism is when you exploit or harm people intentionally, based upon their race. Comedy is not racism
@@summan41man The dictionary definition of Racism is : " Treating different individuals from different races in a different way, one from the other " . That is as simple as it gets. Discrimination can be subtle, barely noticeable or more overt.
Not great if you are often the butt of the joke.
@@jeangreenfield5993 Anybody could be potentially offended by anything. It doesn't mean we should all stop talking.
@@summan41man nobody said we should stop talking 🙂 I am a big believer in communication. But it has to be respectful. Looking at Manning's archive material, there is some overt racism mixed in with more innocent stuff. Thereby sanitising it. Totally unacceptable. Jokes have power .
@@jeangreenfield5993 jokes only have power if you let them. That's the problem, people need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop living with a victim mentality, encouraged by a collective victimhood culture. Jokes are how you interpret them, so effectively the joke is on you.
You mentioned the importance of communication, which can not be effectively achieved if one has the 'power' to shut down that conversation, or the conveyance of discourse. One may not like criticism, for instance, but without the ability to interpret criticism one would not be efficacious to improve.
Humour is simply humour, to forcibly remove the power of laughter is more dangerous than the susceptibility to be offended.
