Excellent. I have a lot of experience with this motor. Don’t laugh. But if you remove mufflers it will sound fantastic. The catalytic converters keep the sound from being too loud. Have a muffler shop remove them and add just lengths of pipe. It will not effect fueling at all. I have nearly a 100k of mileage on several of these motors. It’s the best way to get a great sound without any drone, not screw up fueling, and save a ton of money.
Awesome engine, looks like fun to drive. That gearbox though, you would think for a 2022 model Lexus could come up with something at least a little faster, that appears to be about as responsive as the old Ferrari F1 trans lol
Understandable, key difference is this box shifts quite smoothly and quickly versus a nightmarish single clutch automated manual, though paddle responsiveness could be better. Tbh seems like not much different from early iterations of this trans.

Behaves like an E55 with a snappier transmission - so it's enjoyable to drive but not too overbearing. It'll also be reliable and somewhat comfortable. Also reasonably priced, looks good, practical, and not too much tech. In the words of James May: Watch it flop
@@blackfish4674 0.1 second downshift is snappy. Keep the car at its higher revs. Or learn how the transmission likes to shift. Haven't ever lost a race from the transmission being slow in any of these cars. Its literally faster than the 2022 M3's ZF trans that shifts in 0.2 seconds.
It is quite a shame that in the beginning of the "Street Driving" chapter, the driver started driving the car aggressively before the oil was up to temp. The oil temp gauge is pretty far down, and the redline is only up to 6000 RPM at 14:45. For an enthusiast-oriented channel, I would hope that we could do better about treating cars with respect. You should not be revving an engine that hard when it is still cold. And also, it's leading to a lot of people in the comments asking why the shifts are so slow/delayed. It's because the transmission is saving itself. It won't give you the full performance until the fluid is up to temperature.
You're right, I haven't even noticed the lower redline at the beginning, only that the coolant temperature was very low. That engine isn't going to last long with that kind of treatment.
Timeless engine brilliant engineering from Lexus just wish the suspension and brakes were slightly more performance-tuned like in the RCF and GSF's but overall this engine and reliability will makes this a future Lexus collectors car with low mileage in 6-10 years from now.
If they just upgraded that steering wheel to something a bit more luxurious this car would be unbelievable. It really lets the car down that full plastic wheel they use.
I think only the AWD models have hump. It's a design flaw cause in Japan the driver sits on right side as opposed to left side in america. So really hump is not a problem for drivers in Japan
You know the military did a study on gauges/instruments and found that DIALS, with SWEEPING NEEDLES are EASIER to read "AT A GLANCE" than digital, or bar graphs... I dont know why they car industry can't do a simple compare study and find the same truth.

In Normal drive mode, the car has an adaptive redline depending on the engine temperature. Since the engine wasn’t at operating temperature yet, it’s redline was 6k instead of 7k. But it appears when the car is put into Sport mode and the tachometer changes to the sportier variant, it doesn’t seem to reflect the adaptive redline, even if it’s still there.
Where the heck did this come from, I mean this might be the last of the NA v8 rwd and it’s a LEXUS. I’m seriously considering it, I just wish they offered a v8 damn wagon, the is500 sport back maybe? Idk I have big dogs and that’s why I love my Rs7

It shifts much quicker in sport mode. He was driving in normal mode. I do agree that they should of put a dct on it a long time ago.
Lexus does have a faster 10 speed too, but they used the 8 speed to cut cost

I compared it with the AMG C63s and IS500. If you want to drive now, choose IS500. If you want to drive slowly and long, you will choose C63s.

Did you turn the ASC (active sound control) off? Sounds like you had it on.

Does the chassis feel like an ISF or less sporty? From what I have read it feels like a softer and less sporty car.
