Besides, usually people design challenge hacks for games that are already pretty challenging. I thought it would be a bit of a break if the concept was turned into more of a hunt for new upgrades, sort of building on the already metroid-ish concept. In fact, the shoot through walls upgrade was inspired by the Wave Beam, as is the dash upgrade. I haven't release anything else yet, but I had at least 3 hacks going at some point. Anyway, thanks for playing my hack. I did have fun making it.

@Jigglysaint Thanks for commenting and for making this hack of course! You did great job with all of the ASM hacking. All upgrades worked really well and also added something new to the gameplay. I also like the idea of a hunt for new upgrades. I mean all the changes you made worked really well, but I still would've wished for completely new level designs. That would've made this game fantastic. But yeah, this was still lots of fun to play. Thanks again for all your effort and hard work.

@Jigglysaint I forget the third excus...er...reason I don't finish stuff. Also there's one other thing that you never really saw, since you didn't touch special weapons in the game. I made it so that after being the first, third, and 5th bosses, you were able to use your special weapons. Ammo starts out at 10 capacity, then raises to 30, 50, then 99. I think I would have also made it so it took less gun powerups to gain a level.

@Toopelius Perhaps one day somebody will create the ultimate Blaster Master hack that changes everything. The 3 big reasons I don't usually create hacks is that the bar has risen quite high since I started. Most people expect graphical overhauls, which I am incapable of doing. The second thing is that I don't generally have the attention span to perfect things. I would have liked to develop this hack a bit more, but at some point other things catch my interest and things just drift away.

I wonder why his hair turns blue at the end.

Hey wow, a run of my hack. It's true that it's rather unfinished and could have been alot better. This is actually my first rom hack release, which for me was quite the feat seeing as how I tend to hang back and do things like discover data for games, rather than actually release hacks of them. this was also my first ASM experience, and I think I did pretty well for a novice. Also, yes the game is a joke when fully upgraded...

...I did it that way because Blaster Master and myself have a bit of a love-hate relationship. See, the game is great, and the music is great...except for one stage in particular. You see, I am not exactly a fan of volcano levels, and as a level the combination of stage 7's theme plus it's music actually gave me nightmares. As a result, I designed two specific powerups with that in mind. The one thing I hated the most about the stage I reduced it to a laughing stock...

So is this a better alternative to the original Blaster Master?
I mean, it has not many level redesigns, but that doesn't matter if you haven't played the original game before.

@Jigglysaint Oh, actually I knew about that case with special weapons since I made some practice runs before this recorded one. I just forgot to show or mention it anywhere...
I totally understand that you don't do complete hacks. Even if I don't have experience about hacking a rom, I'm sure it can be hell of a job if you want to create something good. I'm always in awe when I play a well made rom hack and wonder how someone has had patience and skill to do such things to the original game.
