dodging out of lions heart can mix the opponent if they’re not on their toes cause you can back 1,2 right into stance and repeat , throw in a spin and low just need to space it properly
This will be my first Tekken game. Been playing fighting games for about 5 years now but still have not tried Tekken. Excited to jump in and learn as much as possible. Steve and King look the most fun to me so that's where I'll start. Thanks for the awesome videos
Unwarranted advice lol so you can ignore tf out of me if you want, but I say learn King really well first and establish your fundamentals, then when you have a better grasp on the game, move on to Steve as he's one of the hardest characters in the game to play. Just my two cents.
@@IccyTheOneah ok i have been wondering why i haven’t played since i was in middle school (tekken 6) and now im 21 and struggle to play steve as hard as i try but i can at least compete with king. What a hard game respect to people who are good at it!
@@yuh_19 Decent. He definitely is a harder character to learn. Thought I was doing well with him online. Recently picked up Lars and honestly he made me realize how difficult Steve is. After 90 minutes of practice with Lars I took him to rank and won 11 in a row. My highest win streak with Steve was 6. I will definitely keep playing Steve because he is extremely fun
The one mindset I’ve stuck with on Steve since like Tekken 5 (and I’m sure many others can attest to this) is to literally just play him as a boxer, full send. Look to score hits and win by accumulating points. If your opponent opens up for a knockout (counter hit launcher) then it’s a cherry on top. You’ll win matches just from his safe pokes and strings and you’ll win from some big combos here and there but don’t try and force it.
This comment stuck with me all day and when I finally came on to play tonight, I went on a win streak. I’m not even playing Steve, I just really love this advice 😂 thanks so much, bro
I havent felt this much passion for steve since early T7, I played him for years and dropped him and now all those fundamentals are paying off, he is so much more flashy and dynamic than ever before Cant wait to play Lee as well as he is my main, I think the counter hit gods are gonna be my team in T8, boy my hands are never gonna get a break lol
Great guide! Just wanted to add, after a CH d/f 2, you can duck into a crouch cancel with d/b, then do WS 1, 2.(WS 1, 1 works too) This does more damage than the machine gun punches, gives better pressure, and its easier to confirm since you want to hold down back to cancel the duck if they block anyway. and if you press 1 early by mistake, you swing a duck 1, which is safe at -7. WS 1, 1 is also safe at -3.
First Tekken game ever. I was a Little Mac main in Smash. I saw a boxing character and picked Steve immediately without knowing how complex he is. Thank you for some more in depth knowledge on how to play!
For the Steve players here just looking for some bit of info he ran out of time, but back 2 guarantees a sonic fang if it connects, still not a launch but another strong option
It's actually not that great. You can just jab or power crush him out of it for the most part and he can't do nothing about it. Its basically a slighty better back sway. Also what makes it worse is that you're forced into the stance after certain moves/strings. It would be fine if it were crouch cancle-able.
also found out something while messing with him that wasn't in this video. his up back 2 is a homing high that comes out at 18 frames and is +3 on block. it goes into lion heart but you can hold back to cancel it. on hit it guarantees sonic fang and on block you're plus three, it is a high though so they can duck and punish.
Played tekken when i was super young like the first 3 tekken in the 90’s , watching these makes me wanna play tekken 8 , im 30 now and seems like steve is a fun character , i really liked eddy and hworang when i was young but this character seems to suit my way of thinking
If you are new to Tekken, Eddy and Hworang are easy to spam, but very hard to actually play, especially Hworang. You have to remember if he's standing on his left or right foot when you do different moves because his combos can sort of be reverse and use the opposite kick buttons depending on what foot he starts his flamingo stance on
One of the hardest character to master and has been since forever in all Tekken games. One must really dedicate hard on Steve to excel with him but once you do reach that high skill level you will start to see how easy you beat down anyone trying to challenge your rushdowns.
It says allot about how difficult Steve is that as soon as i played a character who can actually punish and launch punish getting to emperor was the easiest thing i'd ever done. Did it just under a month and not in lengthy ranked sessions either, just maybe slightly over an hour casually 4 or so times a week and it was smooth sailing but with Steve my main i just couldn't do it. Hit a brick wall at Ryujin. He'll still be my main always and forever. Just gotta git gud i guess.
im new to tekken and picked up steve because hes cool and his game plan is basically pressuring and poking the enemy with a stick and always ready for opening, not forcing things. fitting to my style, lets see how far i could go
Just pulled the trigger on T8. Boxing is my favorite sport so I like the idea of being a competent Steve player. Wish me luck. Thanks for this crash course!
Even though I'm no pro at Tekken by no means, I still love learning to play characters. I usually suck at Steve but I really want to make him my secondary character this go around with Tekken 8. Thanks for the vid and tips!
I would say: above average - hard Execution etc ain’t too bad but definitely not easy Your gameplay tho makes him at least top 5 hardest character in the game if not even top 3 Definitely not beginner firendly
Knowledge and skill checks. Beyond the average level of a Tekken character. Above average execution but can be mastered with some real practice. But of an obstacle but not a barrier per say. Game plan however, is the real learning curve. Revolves around counter-hits and spacing. You need really good Tekken fundamentals and knowledge of Steve's moveset if you wanna level up. Once you do though, you're gonna be fucking up everyone you see. A good Steve player is a menace
Wanted to get better at the game as this is the first fighting game that I found actually playable online (I dont suck THAT bad), arcade quest really taught me a fair ammount of combos with Steve.
