    In a recent kitchen reno project, I was on the hunt for a ready made can of limewash to apply to a range hood. I found it difficult to source a can in my area and took to the internet for advice. Many suggest that lime wash is a fairly simple recipe that can actually be made from scratch from easy to source materials! Say no more, I had to try this out for myself. After many sample batches and different formulas tested, I’ve come up with my very own recipe that worked beautifully on a large wall in our office.

    I hope Kelsey doesn't feel bashed by the negative comments about the blue! Picking a color can be really stressful and sometimes you just gotta try something to see what works and what doesn't. You both have an amazing sense of style and at the same time I'm impressed by the way you don't shy away from revisiting projects like this.

    The arch doors would look cool in a white washed wood colour or black! I feel like the door is too warm with the cool tone of the walls! But I do like the texture and lime wash look! I think the grey tone works with the floors and kitchen as you said :)

    I'm going to start off by saying I was one of the few who actually liked the blue wall. I thought it was a bold, cheery choice for that entryway! I also love the lime wash. I've always loved that technique. My only issue now is that I LOVED the beige color the wall before that final coat! Now the doors look dingy and like they should be painted black to match the cool tone of the paint?⁷

      I agree about the blue! I always get faked out when they start to hype a "crazy" color and it is just a new version of brown or beige 😁 I love watching their videos because they are inspiring, boss, diy babes but I know their style isn't for me. The blue wall was absolutely my vibe but not really their's.

    To be honest, I like the first coat (the lighter version) much better. The final result looks like a concrete wall, which is great. • @wellhello1603
    @wellhello1603 2 года назад +342

    Beige definitely looked better, blended in with the door so well. I think the problem with gray and blue previously was that door is warmer/yellower color, which makes door look completely separate from the wall. They don’t blend into each other nicely, but look like 2 different objects from different projects. Especially in a space with so many textures, styles, colors, tones, it’s important to tie everything together. Colors aren’t complimentary in my opinion. Beige was perfect with that interesting texture.

    I feel like the door could be a cool toned green or like a burnt sienna color, or even gold! It feels like the space isn't finished yet. It's difficult because it's a transitional space. Maybe some large curtains with tie backs can tie the spaces together by breaking them up enough with a different texture and weight

      See since a lot liked the blue still I’m wondering if they should paint the door blue! Not the same blue in my opinion, the color wasn’t exactly my taste personally. But Benjamin Moore had a new dark blue, almost black, color for colors of 2022 and it would look amazing as a pop of color for the door frame.

  • @marm2371
    @marm2371 2 года назад +37

    I think the windows and door would look good in a charcoal black (something similar to the cabinet next to the wall) as they still don't quite go with the cement gray (maybe the gray looks different in person). But it's better than the blue. It looked like a lot of work to redo this wall. Wow! Colour is so hard to pick out so don't be hard on yourselves. We've all been there repainting the same wall two or three times!!! LOL

    My stomach just dropped, I got the sickest feeling. That blue wall was my absolute favorite part of your studio. I was so happy when you painted an actual color, a beautiful color in there. I'm an artist and have been an art teacher for over 27 years and I am so tired, exhausted of neutrals. Beiges grays tans browns pale yellows. The world is full of such beautiful colors and it's like they've been killed. It breaks my heart it literally breaks my heart. My bedroom is the most beautiful purple you've ever seen, my bathroom is the most beautiful ocean blue, my kitchen is an aqua that just makes you feel alive. The rest of my house is white bright white all the trim is white all the crown molding everything. I live in a world of color. My art room is so full of color all my students over the years have just loved that room and feel so good in it because it's full of colors that turn on your imagination that makes your heart feel good not blah blah blah depressing neutrals. it's like shutting your brain off. Okay I'm venting. And someday this neutral palette will go away and people will have color again. But that wall made me happy and now it's still a beautiful door and beautiful windows but now it has sad color. I don't even think of neutrals is being color anymore they are the lack of color the absence of joy. When I moved into my house the entire house ceiling walls everything was a light tan. If it wasn't such an amazing house I would have shrieked and ran away. But I fixed it it's alive with color and life. Oh and all the carpet in my house is green. And to those of you who can't imagine it every single person who comes in my house absolutely loves it and wishes that they were brave enough to paint their house like mine and choose a beautiful Green carpet that goes with everything!

    Honestly, I like both the blue and the gray, just in different ways. The blue looked really fun and quirky (and it's the same color as my kitchen cabinets), but the gray looks very lux and mature. Nice job on both!

    I feel like the blue would have been so awesome if the rest of the space also had deep, jewel tone colors throughout it. But because the rest of the space is mostly neutrals, it didn’t match quite as well. I think this matches better. (Though I do prefer deeper colors throughout than neutrals, but that’s just me)

    I REALLY like the visual texture of this. Like you, it's also just a titch bit too grey, particularly with the warmer/yellowy shade of white on the doors. The sort of putty colour of the original swatches was brilliant. I really appreciate you showing how to do this and breaking it all down for us, as I can really see doing limewash on a wall of mine.

    I actually like the blue.. It's the POP statement of the space.. Like an accent wall or something... (but I guess you have your abstract mural wall for that inside the meeting room?) Maybe some think it doesn't belong in the space coz there's not much that relates to the color overall.. Anyway, to be honest, the limestone is giving me kind of cement vibes... Maybe because of the gray tone? I don't know.. Maybe you can make the door and the windows contrast with the gray? Just a suggestion... But you guys are the designers... So your call... 👍🏻👍🏻
