I remember hearing this solo for the first time in 85 and being blown away. Up to then we were bombarded with so many EVH clones that this neo classical stuff was a breath of fresh air. Looking back though, YJM was one hell of a player for his time.
@@chasingfrets His Marching Out album was a game changer for playing. Took it all to another level. Then all the Sharpnel record shredders came along before Joe S took us all back down to ground level again. Mind you another god like solo of the time was Uli Jon Roth's I'll be there solo of around the same time. He could speed pick the notes as well.
Uli is a really great player not only in terms of technique but because of his sense of melody as well (just like Satriani) it's so important having something to say on the guitar rather then just spiting out notes as fast as you can, love those types of players who put idea and melody first
Yes!!! One of my favorites! I've learned this before and had to tweak it to fit some parts into those malmsteen patterns, it's great to have a proper tutorial compared to most others with this. I'm going to revisit it now since you posted this 🙂
Amazing man🤟 thankyou And a lot of guitar players still up to this day say yngwie sucks🤦♂️ Id like to see them play this, not to mention he wrote this when he was like 21, and lets not forget his solos with steeler and alcatrazz Yngwie ruled in the 80s and still rules now!
this may have been the first song some people ever heard of Yngwie...because of the music video etc. That opening lick would have been mind blowing, or just weird sounding since no one else played like that (and most kids in America had probably never heard Michael Schenker before lol)
Ah yes, the time when MTV actually played music lol. Seeing a new video was a treat and when someone like Yngwie showed up for a first time on TV screens I can only imagine the impact he had and this track was a great introduction of his mastery
@@chasingfrets I never heard of him until right before I started to play myself. Dude in the dormitory had the Trilogy cassette and I borrowed it and it just sounded weird to me lol. I was used to VanHalen and I was like "is this opera or something?" lol. Then I started playing and in 1988 all the magazines were all about Yngwie and Vai and Satch. I got the first Rising Force album and it started to make more sense
We meet again. My other favorite Yngwie jam. When he first came out, before Mtv, this was as crazy as when Eddie first sprang Eruption on the world. It wasn't until I saw him on Mtv that I kinda got what was happening. I absolutely despise "shred" guitar, but I love his playing. No sweep picking or sweep tapping. Both make me run for some rope and an unstable chair after about 30 seconds. It's very similar to Boogie Woogie piano on the public piano at the airport.
Thank you for all the lessons, I improved a lot with them! however, Malmsteen has always played 21 fret guitars if I´m not mistaken. I´ve seen 22nd fret on different tabs for this song including this one. Am I missing something?
Yngwie uses a 22 frets guitar in some songs such as this one and 'Magic mirror' to name a few. I generally transcribe his solos for a 22 fret guitar just for peoples convience, mostly to avoid huge bends from 21st to 24th fret besause most players use a 10 gauge strings which makes it quite difficult to bend ( where Yngwie uses only an 8 gauge set on top strings so it's very easy for him to reach those bends)
@@chasingfrets Oh I see, I didn't know that. Unless I get another guitar, will have to keep bending that 21st fret anyways :D thank you very much for the answer and best of luck with the channel!
hey man i'm really enjoying your lessons thanks a lot.I know you already did a lesson on suffer me but would it be possible to do one on the live version from 84' in japan?

@@IshredGuitar Enjoy the lessons brother,thanks!
Dude!!! Thank you for teaching one of my favorite Yngwie lessons of all time!! Your work belongs in museums!!!
Hahaha thanks man!
Rising force blew my mind like Eruption did when I first heard it, just phenomenal playing!
Yeah man, those songs were ground breaking, when you just never heard anything like it before, mind blowing indeed!
I agree I remember every guitar player was trying to learn just a pice of what he was doing

I can only imagine the impact of Yngwie's playing and hearing his style for the first time back then, the man is a legend!

What "guitar players" are really saying this!? Outside of bozos who don't like neoclassical/shred guitar playing?
and let us not forget.....other than opening phrases.......he improvised this on the spot !!!
You’re awesome it only takes 15 minutes to figure it unreal. Love it

Hola amigo chasing tremendo solo
Gracias Eddie!
But Yngwie only has 21 frets (lick 2). I don't get it. At half speed, on the album, it sounds like he's using 22. But I'm nearly certain he's not.
On certain songs he is actually using a 22 frets guitar ( Magic mirror is also one of the examples)
