agree but its always happened. every sport when an athlete shows generational abilty. when tv was b/w...before tv.. when newswires teletyped around the nation. we're at the first big peak of the hype storm. as Ant settles into Ant like Kobe settled into Kobe etc and MJ became MJ and back into history....then later on, we get the GOAT or not GOAT if he continues doing MJ KOBE level things. Ali was once a young Cassius Clay with will he be the next Joe Louis talk.

Until Edwards wins a ring or at least a scoring title or an MVP, the MJ comparison is way too premature. He’s not even on the level of a prime James Harden yet.

I did enjoy Big Perk's essay. Good job Perk. After watching last night's Wolves-Nuggets game I can see that MJ was smoother athletically but otherwise the similarities are apparent. Watch out for Anthony Edwards in the All-Time Great Debate in 10 years. He is very similar to MJ athletically, in the way he plays, and in attitude. In addition he has the advantage of playing in the modern NBA where he benefits greatly from the floor spacing, no hand checking, and "modern" officiating. It is nearly impossible to defend him one-on-one without being able to hand check him and there is so much room for him to operate on the floor and when he gets into the paint.
There will never be another MJ the closest we got was Kobe. But saying Ant is the MJ is just crazy and putting too much pressure on Ant.

Ant and MJ have similar playstyles, but they don't have the same level of dominance, and I think that's what everyone has a problem with. When you watch Ant, you can see some MJ, but you don't get any feeling of MJ. We'll see where he goes from here, but I think a more realistic comparison is Ant to DWade, which is still very high praise.

I remember when ANT was coming out of Georgia. He had an nba frame already. The way he scored & defended with his athleticism gave a lot of resemblance to MJ. The nba scouts was comparing him to Donovan Mitchell & oladipo. It’s funny how these analysis picking up on ANT so late

Jordan's First 4 seasons: 33pts, 6reb 5.3ast, 2.8stl and 1.3blk on 50/16/84 splits. Also won dpoy and mvp in 87-88. Edwards is better from 3 but that's where it ends. Similar playstyle I suppose. But still, he ain't jordan lol

ANT is still 22, so while from a season perspective you are right he's not that far from where Jordan was at his age give differences in era. He's by no means *there* yet, but it's not like he's miles behind when you consider it that way. See where he is at 26.
