watched this thinking i couldn’t even hear the cover over the original recording. went and watched the tutorial after and my jaw hit the floor at the realization that the tone and playing matches so well it just blends in with the recording flawlessly excellently done, sir, this hog crankin’ goes out to you 🤘
I used a Boss ME 90. Clean/crunch amp with gain at 9-10 o clock. Distortion pedal with tone full and low distortion. Depending on your amp gain. Compressor, pretty aggressive. Reverb (Spring I think). EQ with a high mid scoop and a cut on the lower bass frequency and treble boost. Strat played on position 2 (for the strummed chords) and position 1 for the chonky riff. If you tweak these things you should get something pretty close. I found a Celestion V30 emulation IR and that has improved the tone even more. If you check the tutorial that I did for this song, I dialed in a pretty close sound with a more analog setup.
Those chords in the (first) chorus powerchords, just playing the low end or what are you playing there? I see what look like a chord shaped played in 2 or 3 different positions in between the licks
They’re not powerchords, I guess they are technically Bminor, A major, F#minor and G major but played in DADGAD tuning which makes the voicing different because of the open A and D strings. Bilmuri is notorious for using the 6534 chord progression haha.

@@ryanparrish3825there’s always a good reason to get a strat. 😉 The middle position on the Tele comes pretty close, but the EQ curve looks different, it isn’t as scooped in the mids and I actually boosted it at 8k-16k to get that ice pick-y quality. I used a Tele for my cover of livin laughin lovin.
Not sure if you've looked into NeuralDSP at all but their tones are absolutely incredible, that is, if you like playing DI into a computer/DAW. Highly reccomend trying their 14 day trials. Best part is you can do a 14 day trial for each pack they offer.

Devastating- I have an old tele and a 95 MIJ jag and I can’t seem to get the tone- been meaning to get a Strat eventually so I guess now’s the time!
