GUYS, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR BACKGROUND TO BE TRANSPARENT, OTHERWISE THE CHARACTER'S FACE WILL SHOW WHITE IN THE GAME. I NOTICED STEVE'S BACKGROUND FOR HIS BODY PIECES WAS ALSO TRANSPARENT, WHILE MINE WAS WHITE. AS SOON AS I'VE MADE MY BACKGROUND OF THE CHARACTER TRANSPARENT AS WELL, IT PICKED UP ON MY FACE PROPERLY AND IT WAS NO LONGER WHITE. I'M JUST WRITING THIS IN CASE ANYONE ELSE IS CONFUSED AS TO WHY THEIR PROFILE FACE WOULD SHOW WHITE AND NOT DISPLAY PROPERLY. THE BACKGROUND OF THE IMAGE NEEDS TO BE TRANSPARENT ONCE AGAIN. I BELIEVE IT'S BECAUSE OLDER VERSIONS OF MINECRAFT WORK LIKE THIS, SO ONCE YOU REPLACE THE "CHAR" FILE FROM THE 1.4.7 EXECUTABLE JAR FILE WITH YOUR OWN CUSTOM CHARACTER, YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT YOUR IMAGE COMES WITH A TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND, NOT A WHITE BACKGROUND, BECAUSE THEN THE FACE OF THE CHARACTER PICKS UP ON THE WHITE BACKGROUND AND IT WILL DISPLAY A WHITE FACE IN GAME. ONE MORE THING, MAKE SURE THAT ON OLDER VERSIONS LIKE MINECRAFT 1.4.7 YOU GET RID ON ANY ADDITIONAL ROWS FROM YOUR IMAGE, BECAUSE THE GAME WAS DESIGNED SO THAT IT USES STEVE'S BODY PIECES AS MOB ASSETS. YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL BODY PARTS IN YOUR IMAGE SO THAT IT MATCHES STEVE'S PICTURE, OTHERWISE THE GAME WON'T LOAD YOUR CUSTOM CHARACTER PROPERLY, AND IT WILL APPEAR MESSED UP. KEEP THIS IN MIND. ʘ◡◠👍 YOU CAN USE "PIXLR" IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE BACKGROUND OF YOUR CHARACTER PIECES IMAGE TRANSPARENT.
1.go %appdata%
2.go minecraft. folder
3.copy paste any version you like and name it whatever you like then
4.go to the folder you see 2
files json and jar rename those the same name that you renamed the version make sure no different
5.after that right click the jar file click open with
6.if you downloaded winrar click winrar
7.delete meta-inf
8.go download a skin in a skin website than rename it
steve.png and alex if your in 1.8 update or 1.4 1.2 name it char.png
9.delete the steve file and put your skin on and done
10.open minecraft then yeah open a world then theres your skin

wow. I've deleted meta-inf and put my skin on after that I tried to play minecraft but it won't open then I checked my minecraft Winrar folder it says error and it's empty inside but only meta-inf is there.. weird.. I deleted it..

At 3:01 when he says that he couldn't remember what folder he deleted. The folder you have to delete is the folder called META-INF

@@R_E_X_Edits just seach to the windows logo and search run then appdata roaming .minecraft when u are in the new minecraft you will see a assets folder or in old minecraft the bin folder and right click minecraft.jar use some file archiver 7zip or winrar then when you open it go to mob when in new minecraft replace and not dele the alex or steve.png in old minecraft char.png got it or not

This method is not always, "Perfect". I tried this method out first on a singleplayer world, end up fine, but when I entered a Multiplayer server, It look what was to be the same, but everyone can see that I was wearing the default Minecraft steve skin.

Due To the updates That bin folders has been deleted Therefore Each Update it will delete the old update file and replace it with the new one this vid was in 2013 Therefore any updates higher 1.47 Like 1.56 And others.

This is 2013, not 2016! Why did you say it was 2016? 1.9 doesn't let you change your skin anymore that way.

its old because its bin for the latest is versions then open to winrar next isgo to assets and minecraft and textures then replace the skin you want and replace it to steve or alex

when i wrote %appdata% and open minecraft folder there was not bin

ok... so I tried this and whatever I pressed on said evaluation copy. also I didn't start out looking like a normal character so when I tried to back it up by saving it to document in this case map it said there was nothing in the file. for some strange reason it didn't work for me and I look like a deformed zombie corpse lol. Actually it works for about a second then glitches back to zombie corpse
