When I took up running as my hobby/past time around 4 years ago two of the first shoes I got was Brooks Ghost and Glycerin. They were excellent shoes and from someone who did not know about the brand at all at the time I was super impressed. Of course these days shoe technology and midsole foams have advanced but I still find the quality and durability of Brooks shoes excellent. I have the Tempos as well and recently got a Glycerin 20 and I find them solid shoes for their purpose. Nothing flash but do the job they are made for and have excellent durability. I'll definitely be trying the Hyperion Max if I can find it on sale here. The RRP is just a bit too expensive. Thanks for the review Edd.

One of the high points for the original Hyperion Tempo was its outstanding flexibility. Coupled with the paradoxically soft yet resilient Flash DNA foam, I think it was a real winner.
This shoe is on my list to try, for sure.

I bought two pairs, one for speed workouts and 2nd as an actual race day shoe (upto Half Marathon). This shoe is a real slave driver as the faster you go the more it gives back! The DNA flash foam is more resilient than PEBA and doesn’t bottom out either.

This is the only Brooks shoe I’ve loved besides the Tempos (I went through 2 pairs of those but I like this more) and going back to the “Pure” line before max stack height and max cushion became all the rage. The Pure Flow and Pure Cadence were great shoes for their time. Anyway, the build quality is excellent, the uppers are very comfortable for me (and TTS) and it’s an extremely versatile shoe. EDDBUD I knew you were going to like this shoe. I put more miles on my Hyp. Tempos than almost any other shoes I’ve had and never had a durability issue with either upper or midsoles/outsoles. Definitely starts out feeling firm but as they warm up they become very responsive and fun. People should try them on to ascertain whether the roll geometry works for their biomechanics.

I agree. It's a very capable shoe. Just had it recently because it was on a discount (a bit cheaper than a regular priced Pegasus 40) in where I'm at. Ran a 10K fun run with two prior (tempo and long) sessions in it and pleased on how it all went. It's relatively less hyped (maybe due to its initial price) but a very good one that can handle many types of runs (I can run easy on this pair, no problem) and, yes, it is definitely a plateless racing option because of its weight and no-frills upper. I say a no-brainer if it's on a significant discount.

What I envision the MetaSpeed Edge+ to be without a plate. The DNA Flash is slightly less bouncy than the FF Turbo foam. A bit more firm. Overall, I like the Hyperion Max. I don’t like training with carbon plated shoes all the time. I only reserve them for races. This shoe is probably good up to the half marathon distance for a bit heavier runners. For lighter runners, I can definitely see someone going 42k in them.

I have 114miles in mine , yes it might be a bit pricy for a non carbon ..etc , but its a great tempo trainer, durable midsole and while not my long run shoe of choice (puma forever run holds that posistion at present) I will take it out on my 15 mile runs when a large chunk need to be around race pace . Good shoe.. nearly took it for a 10 mile race on the weekend over a £230 super shoe , Thats how much I rate it .. actually reminds me of the old Sketchers hyper speed elite (think that was the silly name it had) but with a little more room in the toe box and foam underfoot.

Young Sir, as you know have had several bad injuries (Hamstring avulsion and knee), have found Hyperion GTS the dogs 🥜, as I suffer from high arches and supination issues, these shoes support both of my issues due to the amazing stability element. They are a joy to run in and not had this month fun running in a shoe for a long time (that includes Nike Invincible- too bouncy and unstable). anyone else find it a bit too long? it has too much space in front but i'm worried about going half size down because the top of my feet is very sensitive to pressure and get numb easily

@@EDDBUD so many better options out there, I think we all have brands that through experience or maybe stubbornness we won’t touch, I have many and brooks are at the top of that list 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@richshelley2922I would say you’re missing something then, unless this type midsole is too firm for you. If you must have squishy foam, then it’s indeed not for you but it’s a versatile winner for many people who otherwise have not been excited by Brooks. I really loved the Tempo as a more traditional shoe in the midst of my rotation and this one is even better.

@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 yep I like a decent bouncy stack, not sure how they can get away calling this thing “max” when it’s only got 31 in the forefoot, and that 31 is as dead and lifeless as all brooks foams. Time moves on brooks don’t luckily for them so many people come into running not having a clue what to get and must end up with brooks shoes, so kudos to their promotional dept

@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 just seen the retail is £160 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂u can pick up a prime x, a adizero pro 3, a metaspeed all for cheaper than that atm all of them can do tempo runs as well as being race options, I have just picked up the mizuno wave rebellion pro for £180 absolute beast of a shoe, best shoe since the alphafly 1 these are real running shoes!!
