I drove this lovely engine years ago. My abiding memory is that to apply the vacuum brake there is a hinged cap that you pull up against the vacuum to let air into the train pipe.
Not a big tank engine fan but the Webb Coal Tank being the only operational LNWR loco makes it very special. I love pregrouping steam from the LMS so it has a special place for me. Can't wait for the new Build George to be completed.

Such a lovely little loco. Glad she was preserved - most LNWR engines were withdrawn before the 1930s.
