    Probably only 7/8 qualify out of 120 or 130 , in Regional qualifying so work to be done . Good luck , try and play Fulford as often as you can and make sure your yardages are as exact as you can make them , you need to be putting for birdies on a lot of greens . Get a local caddie if you can .

    I found that to be a very enjoyable nine holes to watch. I thought your game was looking pretty tidy, especially around the greens. The weakest point was approaches to the green, but if your chipping game remains as good as it was here it will take the pressure off approaches a bit as you know you can get up and down if necessary.
    I liked the positive attitude, too. It will help you handle the tension of the actual competition. Good luck.

Accept the standards have moved to incredible levels at qualifying nowadays, rare that amateurs or club professionals make it to the Open, mores the pity. FIR is largely a pointless stat. GIRO (green in regulation opportunities) v actual GIR is more improtant at our level. So you were bang on, your driving was good, your reading of lie and course conditions would have been highlighted in stats if GIRO was used.

    • @sandersson2813
      @sandersson2813 27 дней назад

      It's a lot easier to hit a green from a fairway than from bushes, rough, trees etc on tight heathland courses like this.
      If you hit more FW you have a far higher chance of getting a GIR.

    • @oldred1959

      @@sandersson2813 If you hit a 350 yard drive and roll through the fairway into the first cut, but only have a 60 yard shot to centre of the green it's a fairway missed, but in reality it's a birdie op. If you knowingly sacrifice accuracy for distance (I could take 5 iron hit the fairway but leave a 220 yard second from fairway) then GIRO gives you that info, do the same on Par 5's all of a sudden the stats say your driving is an issue but in reality it's not, in the video he clearly drove well, except one hole, but the stats alone say he didn't.

      @sandersson2813 26 дней назад

      @@oldred1959 Why would you hit a 350 yard drive? Given that the longest drivers on tour don't do this regularly why would you or him?
      You only have a GIRO if you have a shot to the green. The vast majority of golfers are absolutely shit and so would be better keeping a ball on the short stuff.
      On a tight course like this you have rough, heather, trees, thick grass, gorse, broom etc. IF you can find your ball, and it's a big IF, there a high chance you will have no option but to A) take a drop for the cost of a shot or B) chop it out.

      None of these RUclipsrs are seriously under the illusion they can qualify.
      They know the ridiculous standard required these days and they'd have to be monumentally naive or narcissistic to think any of them are capable.
      Rick has stated unequivocally he's not good enough and I don't believe the others actually think they're at a high enough level, BUT this type of video does generate a lot of views among gullible viewers so I totally get why they do it. It's a guaranteed seasonal viewership.
      Enjoy watching, but be pragmatic and logical. They aren't good enough, and it's only some viewers who don't realise.

    no disrespect intended but i saw a video with you and Andy Carter talking about who was the best golfer of the 4 youtubers and you and Andy claimed to be the top 2.. i watch Peter Finch a lot and have to say his game looks far superior to yours at the moment.. quality of striking just seems so much better from Peter, maybe you were better than him once upon a time but from what i have seen not any more

      @@SolarflareGaming629 Do you understand how low the standard is for PGA pro's?
      Winning a tournament like that is a million miles off the level he'll need to even qualify from Regional qualifying to Final Qualifying.
      His previous years have been lamentable and I don't see that much improvement in his game that he's suddenly going to go from shooting 78 in regional qualifying to shooting level par or better to make it through to Final .
      There's simply too many players who are miles better than him, he knows this, he just does the videos for clicks, which is fair enough but be under no illusion that he thinks qualifying for The Open is remotely realistic.
