If you don't want to spend two hours on a boring log delivery quest, you can always use this life hack, just spend 1 hour 30 minutes loading logs and quickly deliver the logs in 30 minutes
Just tip the trailer over at the destination and pick em up like scattered match sticks off the ground into your delivery trailer. Save a ton of crane fiddling around time.
As mentioned aramatsu forester is great for overloading medium and short logs. It's crane seems better than others as well and picking logs from logging addons and aramatsu is a breeze compared to sideboard. A few tips: 1. Use aramatsu and a truck with medium or short log atachement. Overload the heck off aramatsu (i did crazy amounts 10 packs or something) and then just load 3 at a time on the other truck/unload/repeat. If only needed 3logs somewhere i migh just unload on ground with aramatsu and deliver with aramatsu. Better than having trailers.. trailers do not drive or selfpack nor deliver. and to pack you need it attachet to a truck if that trach is the overloaded aramatsu with 5-10loads of logs you have a big problem having to unload everything as there is no option to just pach the trailer and not the truck. So using a second truck is miles better. 2.For long logs i use overloading on the logging truck strategy. The 10x10 azov 7series is great with crane and log front and rear. or kenworth can do this as well. With careful maneouvering you can bring quite some loads. I remember i needed many logs in the church amur.. got them with overloaded azov 7 with 7 long log loads (21 logs). For unloading was better to unhook rear trailer and go around and winch it from under the logs. then load 3 at a time. I really like overloading and became efficient in craning skills so it's fast and second nature. Not just from SR, but from MR and ST games as well. One overloaded c-255 or c-4320 with crane and it was map completed in one trip. But i get that some might find some craning more frustrating and timeconsuming that just driving 2-3 times. I like cranes
It's very tedious, it reminds me of trying to get a stuffed animal out of the crane machine at the arcade. I have to stop playing often to get my head back together lol
So basically, you can either spend lots of time setting up trucks and cranes to save trips, or, you can run single loads and spend lots of time driving back and fouth. Also I spent half an hour trying to fit 12 single long logs in a trailer then hit pack and most of them dissapeared!! Wish i watched this video first
It seems to me that reloading logs with a crane can take more time than just transporting them. And yet, as for me, operating this crane is not the most pleasant experience. It is best to find like-minded friends and carry logs together. The fastest way.
I dont think its the time that makes ppl do this but rather the repetition as in driving back and forth the exact same path multiple times in a row. Its a game about driving back and forth but in most cases u are delivering something different everytime and most likly taking some variation of a different path. But with logs your very likly to drive the exact same path over and over again and your delivering the same type of material so its starting to feel abit repetative especially if the location your getting them from has an unlimited amount.
I'm actually in an interesting boat where I'm sad of the lack of log quests and always love doing them because it feels like they're far and few between. I love my aramatsu forester and I want to make the most of it!!!
I managed to load 15 medium logs (5 loads) on a sideboard 2slot trailer but i would not recommend it as it was pure luck that the top layer dident fell off at some point and it was a very slow drive to make sure it stayed on. They could absolutly increase the grip strenght of the claw abit as if u dont grip it perfectly center it will not only tilt heavily but the log will start to slide abit in the claw. The Small and Medium logs isent that bad but the long logs really are a pain in the ass if u dont get a good center grip. I know doing logging is not intended this way but it would also help with getting logs out of the trailers as 6 logs perfectly fits in a trailer and makes it nearly impossable for the claw to get them out unless u tip the trailer. Its definatly doable but its a big trial and error untill u get 1 lucky grip. Also the very swingy claw makes sense for the addon as its a wide use addon, but the claw on the dedicated logging truck should not be that swingy. Real life logging trucks like that have a claw specifically designed to not swing all over the place and with loading and transporting logs being its main and only use really the claw on this truck should definatly not be that swingy.
I have a rule when i play, the trucks i use for long logs are Pacific P16 or Azov 73. They take 1 long logs and if i have to carry one load at the time i choose one truck and do it. Overloads do nothing more than complicate the game when i can make it simple,i have tough terrain to go and Pacific P16 doesn't have AWD,more weight is more trouble.😂😂 🚫Overloads🚫
The only time your saving is if you drop your load because its top heavy and your in a hurry just take your time on uneven ground and just tap the exelarator but and you wont drop the load you get no points or money for speed .
This trick's i use an half year and it is realy good, u just need some more trucks to change the maps because it can just travel loaded and saved loggs. But it can realy speed up missions. I made it on the map wher u must build the paper factory and there i calculate wrong because i did not know that there 1 logg is countet for the wood so i calculated with a 3 logg pack for 1 wood so i calculatet that i need 12 transports and there i got the idea to just do not save them and hey i just needed 1 teansport.
Still have to drive twice to get a log trailer thee. Or tow one which slows everything down s again. I don’t know about later but in Michigan the max amount of logs I had to deliver to a single location was 3. So not much saved if at all Maybe if you deliver more than one location on one route.
For that first method, I've tried it many times, but I could never pick the logs back up out of the trailer. I tried for hours, wasting all the time I saved by using the trailer in the first place. Eventually I had to just knock the trailer over and pick the logs up off the ground, which was also a pain.
Yeah that can be a pain as 6 logs will perfectly fit next to each other in a trailer. What i found to be the best way is to try and grab the log closest to the side of the trailer and try to grab the end of the log. To do this u position the claw so it tries to grab only 1 log and the side of the trailer. Its not perfect but i found this way to be the easiest way to get a log out and when u get a grab u pull the log slightly so it can rest on the front/back sideboard of the trailer. Now u can get a better grab and once 1 log is out its easy to grab the rest. Not sure if this is easier but i hade better luck with it anyway.
@@Shiftry87 I just use a mod trailer that carries dozens of logs in a basket, then you can lift the basket and drop one log at a time into the trailer below, and once you get 3 logs, you can pack it and turn it in. Works very well.
1:41 Is there an American truck that does this? A truck that could hold a log crane and a low saddle is just the thing I need to finish the Michigan region.
@@greenou7377 thanks. i’ve got a contract in the cola peninsula where i’ve got to deliver 3 long logs. this will be way easier than taking three trips.
this is one of the main reasons to uninstall the game.... the game is nice but some mechanics are just pure torture , it feels like sadistic. also when u finaly get a mission acomplished you get a nice fak off of nothing.....
The amount of videos showing you how to "cheat" at logging shows how completely broken this part of the game is. Seriously devs, is a "load" of logs 3 logs, or 30 odd? Which? CHOOSE FFS!! 😆 For me, I find operating the logging crane awkward and dull - but in an apparent example of game design all the logging missions (so far, for me) have a possible route that avoids the worst tipping over possibilities - it just needs scouting out. And avoiding tipping over is part of the game! Quite good fun is winching your tippy trailer to a tree on the inside of a curve to keep it upright while creeping round... IMO (and it really is just an opinion) that's more fun than fighting the logging crane.
