Colposcopy has great role in Cervical Cancer screening and it reduces the incidence of Cervical Cancer in general population. Pap Smear has got sensitivity of 57 to 80 %.

I feel like maybe I'm weird or maybe something was done differently for me during a colposcopy. They did give me a Tylenol beforehand, the 2nd time i had it done. The first was close to 20 years ago, so i could be forgetting things. I just remember a pinch n some cramping n that was all. The 2nd, less than a year ago, I felt pinches every time she took a biopsy. I had some mild cramping as it was happening. But it was mostly just uncomfortable. Think i had a few cramps here n there that night too. However, despite not having much pain, i nearly passed out afterwards. No idea why. The gyno said she's not sure why that happens bc the cervix doesn't have nerve endings. (Which doesn't seem correct to me or i wouldn't even feel the pinches.) I ended up going to get a cone biopsy later on. That i was sedated for, thankfully.
So im not sure if the really painful thing everyone is talking about is actually a colposcopy or if they had something like a conization or leep procedure done with no meds. I could see than being extremely painful. Maybe my cervix was just less sensitive than most. Idk.
