- Picture this, you're having a nice, relaxing walk on a private beach without a care in the world. All of a sudden, your foot drops into a deep and mucky puddle. You struggle to pull your leg out, but it just won't budge. Before you know it, you're sinking rapidly, and half of your body is submerged in cold, wet quicksand. The more you struggle, the more you sink. Talk about a terrible way to end a vacation.

It happened to me . I was in the 4th grade . We lived in a town called "Hidden Lakes". There were several ponds around my neighborhood..and one of them had been drained. There was a trail going across the mudd. I walked out a bit and immediately started sinking...I was up to my waist in mudd, within seconds !...as I was praying to God and yelling for help, out of NOWHERE, my neihbor/friend, ran up and grabbed my hand and puuuuuulled me out ! I was sure that I was dead . It wasn't my time to go yet . I had to take off my Jean's and wash all the mudd off of them, and air dry in his front yard before going back home. Because Mom would have never believed it....

Once I was in a lake as a kid, and there was always this spot where if we walked into the mud, it went up to our waist. It was always a ton of fun doing that. One time, I got in super deep, and I couldn’t pull my legs out. My friends helped me out, and then I realized my shoe was stuck in it, but then the mud went over. I never saw that shoe again.

Thanks for the video! I was stuck in the quicksand and immediately was watching your videos, while inside quicksand, I did yoga positions and even hired a yoga professional to teach me, after 5 months of yoga learning, I held my breath and then called 911, they saved me!!

I remember me and my friend got stuck on quicksand at a beach once, we were small so we got so scared we just started jumping and lifting our feet our and trying to put the leg we were able to get out first it as far as possible so we could get out faster. Scariest day of my life

It's true...😵I was on the 🏝️ island that the USS Minnow shipwrecked on, there are sand pits everywhere, and some of them had hats on the surface, and at 1 pit there was the remains of the bottom half of a person 🤮

As a child I saw quicksand featured a lot in shows like Scooby-Doo and Gilligan's Island. I really thought it was going to be something I had to contend with a lot in my adult life, but have never encountered it. Hmmm?

Hi fellow Arizonan! There is zero quicksand like the kind shown in this video in Arizona. The desert sand doesn't hold water- it either sucks it up or the water sits on top. If you listened to the video you would know quicksand occurs near water. We don't even get the sand dune quicksand here.
Because of the way physics work, you can't actually go all the way under because when you are at your neck your body weight isn't pushing down on sand anymore. You're most likely to die from the pressure on your chest, preventing your lungs from inflation.
Why can't your neck go under it's obviously part of your body . It's not like to sands going to say oh it's his neck now let's stop. It will take u under if there's more room to go

That's why you practice stepping LIGHTLY on the floor. Stepping lightly can sometimes avoid you getting submerged deep in quick sand. And step slowly on the quick sand

When I was 5 years old, I was at the beach with my family. I accidentally stepped into some quicksand and started sinking in. Then this old lady came up to me and said, "I got you." Then she lifted me out. I wish I could thank this old lady for saving my life, but she's probably dead now.

Maybe you think this will never happen to you , well it can , it happened to me twice .Here is how I survived
Step 1 Don't panic , keep your breathing movements to a minimal as the liquid will engulf more of your body .No movement .
Step 2 slowly focus on anything that you may have on you that is weighing you down , slowly release it from your body
Step 3 Now breath deeply and spread your arms out across the surface , begin to slowly free your legs ,slightly moving them to swim to closest edge .Keep your head up !
Step 4 At the edge , place your fore arms flat on ground surface past the edge , with all your strength lift up while using legs to thrust you forward in swim motion ..
Hope this helps . I was alone both times this occured . This can happen to you , so be prepared .

I have actually been in quick sand before in school when I was in school. Thankfully my foot was the only thing that was stuck. I tried to get it out but I couldn’t. Fortunately for me I had an army of kids trying to pull me up. Of course they succeeded. But they didn’t bull out my boot.and then everyone including me pulled tried to get the boot out. And at the time I had very small feet. And my boot was pretty small. So we couldn’t get it out because of that. There was a lot of people and very little space. Eventually a supervisor saw and got it out. I had to change in the bathroom after that.

LOL. i have been in quicksand and it got to my neck, however it didn’t go deeper and me and my friends were playing in it not knowing it was quicksand. You can move on it a lot and then you foot just plops in, I do know the dangers but it’s fun and pretty cool
