  • In this video I laser engraved some inserts for bottle stoppers. I used the Creality Falcon 40 watt laser to do the engraving. Engraving inlay pieces for your work is a great way to embellish and personalize them.

Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.

The flat one would look great in bloodwood with very dark engraving. 😁

That is great Carl. It would make a great handle for a meat tenderizer or coffee press. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Cool beans! Now I’ll be looking at a new laser! I have a LaserPecker LP1, but it’s very slow, and limited as to what it can do.

Thanks Matt! I watched quite a few videos with the LaserPecker it's really cool you can take it just about anywhere.

Looks great. For another effect, select the fill option instead of lines -- you can also play with different layers and line intervals to add more features as well.

Awesome idea, they look great Carl. If you're going to record lightburn again, I find the easiest way is just hit "Win + G", then in the pop up, look for a button called 'capture' - easily lets you record your screen to a video file. 👍

Those are really nice, Carl. Think about using a flat insert and pouring clear epoxy over the end. You could then shape it into a dome. Just a thought (I ramble a lot in my mind).

Once upon a time handmade was the norm. Then automated production came into play and the handmade element became less and less important in the desire for more and more by producing it for less. Now it's plastic items made in vast quantities. I guess if your chasing the dollar why not go full cnc, laser, ai and automation. If you want to preserve the essence of woodturning I'd say the traditions and skills are a better way to go. I understand this is a complex topic and has many nuances. I'm not saying either way is right or wrong.

@@jpncompany6275 Very cool! Did you make your own treadle lathe? I’d like to try one someday.
