@gabrielcastaneda9700 Zendaya will be lucky to be nominated let alone win. I just don't see it. It's way too early in the year to keep that momentum for a movie people don't super duper love like other early winners. It's a kinda mid year on paper but I just don't see her getting in.

Not really. Past Lives last year already proved that movies released early are forgotten by the time the awards season comes.
Zendaya's performance was also quite average in it. I think this is her PR agency trying to drum up any support because it's hardly a performance worth of an oscar let alone a nomination.
I'm almost done reading the book Conclave, and you're spot on about Fiennes in my opinion. It's an absolutely perfect role for him, he's going through a lot internally and he has to react to extremely shocking news. I don't think it's a winner but he's gotta be in.

That movie is like guaranteed to lose lots of money. No distributor would even get close to invest anywhere near the ask price of 100+ million plus marketing. I am excited to see it but it has flop written all over it.

Hope this year, especially on Golderby understand that there are a lot of factors that will make someone win. Not just the narrative. That's why so many got it wrong last year with Emma vs. Gladstone
Narratives usually work with veteran actors instead of newcomers i.e. Lily vs Emma and Hopkins vs Boseman
It really depends on the year. Sometimes narratives work, sometimes they don’t. Michelle Yeoh’s overdue narrative helped her beat Cate Blanchett, whearas Chadwick Bosemans last chance to get an Oscar narrative didn’t work against Anthony Hopkins. It just depends on which way the wind is blowing.

@@poett8875 Nah, it's a combination of things as I mentioned. If Yeoh would have been in a movie with little support she wouldn't have beat Cate. She just so happened to be in the Best Picture winner that swept with 7 Oscars. Plus, Tar although heavily nominated went home empty handed it had no passion. Again, it's not just 1 thing. It's a combination.

I looked at the app again and I gotta say, disagree about Keiran Culkin being better off moving to Lead. In Supporting Actor he has a shot to win, in Lead Actor he'll get nominated but he's never gonna survive the apparent battle of the Titans between Domingo and Danial Craig.

I just don't see how he misses given he already won for the exact same role again and Globes seems to be a massive precursor now and they have that Comedy/Musical split. But i would agree with almost everything here. Also i think while the trailer looks fucking terrible, people are severely underrating how BOOMER BAIT Costner and Horizon are.

Marianne Jean-Baptiste is 100% getting nominated. Every Mike Leigh female lead gets at least some awards attention and she has a more compelling case than anyone outside the top 3. I also think it has a great shot at best picture and director.

If there's a sci-fi movie performance that deserves to be nominated it's Timothée Chalamete in Dune Part 2.
They're not going to nominate Joaquin Phoenix's playing a character for which he's already won an Oscar. I can't see Lady Gaga winning, either. Marianne Jean Baptiste will move up in the rankings.
