If I had to guess zito though “hey this thing is in the beholder family tree, let’s not fuck with that because beholders are deadly as fuck” when it comes to zito, as i have notice, he tends to miss read or over exaggerated on things then what they truly are. I will say Monty did say that gazers are used as familiars for wizards indicating they are weak as fuck, but I guess zito forgot about that.
